I know players swing bats for their former teammates pretty often but to directly cross Gorman to do it seems a little off-putting I won’t lie.

Everyone saying “If Mike Gorman is saying this it cannot be otherwise!” in shambles. All these people pretending they weren’t having a great time when Grant was better at defense, hitting corner threes, and showing up in a Batman costume.

Gorman was being playful but he lacks the delivery he used to have (getting old sucks) so now everyone will take what he said seriously.

  4. I think people are taking what Mike said a little out of control. I don’t think he was saying Grant is a bad teammate. He said he can be annoying, which he can be. It sucks to see the Grant slander because I really loved him here. He’s a huge goofball, but he has a big mouth and for guys like Luka that can be really off putting. Luka has a big ego and has been a professional since he was like 14. Tatum is the complete opposite, this was like the perfect place for Grant, a ton of guys that are down to earth and chill.

    Grant’s a good guy … He just talks a lot … Like A LOT

When you’re like that, you’re going to have a lot of people love you, but you’re also going to rub some people the wrong way

I’m sure Grant knows that … But the pros of it is he has friends throughout the league and was pretty immediately a NBAPA VP

Honestly was not a fan of Gorman’s comments, and am not the least bit surprised that JT would come out and nip it in the bud.

Feel like this says more about what a great guy Tatum is than anything else lmao

ESPN’s next headline: “Trouble in Paradise? The ongoing Celtics civil war”

I love Mike, he’s been *the* voice of the Celtics for my entire life, but “bad teammate” doesn’t exactly track with the things we’ve seen with our own eyes over the last few seasons.

There’s a difference between “the guy likes to talk and it can get grating after awhile” and “he’s a bad teammate”.

If anything grants situation speaks more to Luka and Kyrie lol. I imagine those two take themselves maybe a little too seriously

Mike Gorman doesn’t even know where he is anymore.

Not to say that he’s necessarily wrong either. I’m sure Grant pushed his way out of Boston and the same happened in Dallas, but Mike Gorman isn’t the arbitrator of what Grant was or wasn’t.

Two things can be true… grant can be annoying and tatum can also not want people slandering him

The only thing I’m taking from this whole saga is Jayson Tatum is super easy to root for

I personally think Mike’s comments were a little harsh lol. Not surprised JT is sticking up for his friend.

Mike Gorman talks a lot. He needs to just shut up before he causes more drama. None of the Celtics players have had anything bad to say about Grant.

  16. Idk why Gorman would knock anyone. Seems out of character for mike

I think Grant is annoying. He is an agitator. Some people are too sensitive to handle it. I think Gorman is right, but I expected this exact response from JT. Grant is a good dude and I can envision people being completely unfazed by his antics if they are accustomed to them.
Summary: Luka is soft. Grant is annoying (sometimes on purpose).

  18. kpopvapefiend

I don’t think Gorman would lie about something like that. JT and the rest of the team have enough media savy to stand up for Grant even if he did cause problems. They showed support for Kyrie after he left too.

  19. frauenarzZzt

That’s a really forceful rebuke of Mike TBH.

I don’t think that Mike said that Grant was a bad locker room guy **IN BOSTON.** Rather he was specifically referring to Dallas.

  20. Ok_Seaweed_9452

Lol. JT also says Kyrie is great teammate. it’s only natural for friends to stand up to them. Doesn’t Invalidate Mike Gorman comments.

  21. GotKarprar

I’m a Mavs fan but I’m glad bc I was feeling bad for the guy

  22. GooseMay0

Tatum loves everyone though. I mean he thinks Tristian Thompson and Kyrie Irving were great positive influences. Hell, if Arenas was on the team brandishing a gun on the plane Tatum would talk about what a great locker room leader Arenas is. So ya I’m taking what Tatum says with less than a grain of salt cause his standards are low as fuck. If Al says otherwise, ok I’ll believe it more.

I think Mike is just tired of everyone’s bullshit and I don’t blame him.

  23. paintingfainter

I KNEW he would say something, lmao. And I’m glad he did. He’s a really good friend.

  24. Dudeman-Jack

Maybe Gorman is the bad locker room guy

  25. plato4life

lol at all of the people in this thread acting like they know anything about what these players are like in a locker room.

  26. aviatorbassist

Grant is an annoying guy, but he cares about winning. Tatum probably appreciate the cares about winning part a lot being that he’s had a star teammate that he liked but didn’t care about winning.

  27. sortageorgeharrison

Love Gorman but he’s very long in the tooth at this point and he’s very good friends with Freddy T. He’s going to have some fun at this point before retirement . I personally don’t read too much into this as someone who follows the team and the radio program in question very closely.

  28. I love Grant, but when Mike Gorman says it… there’s no smoke without fire

I remember him recounting that story where he and kyrie got into the same lift and kyrie deliberately ignored him. It said a lot about kyrie as a person

Good on JT for publicly defending the Dork Knight, and hope that Grant learns from the Mavs experience
