I think every piece of insight taken from this rotation needs to be done with a grain of salt. I haven’t watched this episode but Blake Murphy is smart enough that I’m sure he’s qualified his statements on what he’s taken away from these games.

When a bunch of players that would normally be coming off the bench get pushed into a starting lineup together there’s going to be a mismatch of skills that puts players in bad positions. I think this is particularly pronounced for players that have fairly limited creation games and fit in as role players.

I really liked how Ochai was cutting when IQ, RJ and Poeltl were in the lineup. I imagine it’ll be even better when an elite playmaker like Scottie is playing alongside him.

Same thing for Dick. He’s playing major starter minutes and being relied on to create more, which isn’t something that he’s ready for yet. I think it’s fine that he’s getting the reps doing that, but the results aren’t going to be pretty right now.

Its hard to fully evaluate given the current state of this team. Happy to see what what he can offer with two years left on his rookie deal.

However, I was hoping he would grab the opportunity to showcase himself with extended mins with the starters out. This has not happened at all and its fair game to point this out

  3. skill wise Ochai is in that 11th spot right now

let’s say we keep our 6th pick.

    IQ | RJ | top 6 pick | Scottie | Poeltl

free agent PG | Gary or Bruce Brown | Gradey | Pacers pick | Olynyk

then you have Ochai, Boucher, Nwora, 32nd pick

Ochai’s peak is probably a better Norman Powell

His peak is Joey Graham. Just not worth it.

I’m pretty low on him right now. Can’t stick in the NBA if you can *only* play defence. You have to be able to score from *somewhere* on the floor and right now Ochai can’t. He needs to have a seriously huge summer.

I feel like I rarely see him in the corner to take those 3s lately, with this group right now he’s been taking a lot of wing and top of the arc threes which just wont be his role when the team is healthy.

It’s hard to simulate a role you’ll play with better guys around you, when you’re currently playing with a bunch of bad players

I’ve hade High hopes for him since he was drafted to the cavs

  9. Yeah got to be honest. There was a time when I would’ve been excited to get Abaji, he looked decent in some of the Jazz games last season. I’m starting to see that was just from a bigger opportunity and empty stats on a bad team. I don’t see him really making much of an impact on this team long term, he’s undersized, can’t really shoot, not much of a scorer and is a okay defender. Not sure how much he could realistically improve for this team. I feel like he would be a 3rd string or deep 2nd unit guy on most teams.
