Big reinforcements on the way for banged-up Knicks | The Injury Report

Big reinforcements on the way for banged-up Knicks | The Injury Report

This is the injury report presented by NYU langon Health with 13 games left in the regular season the big question is can the Knicks get healthy just in time for the playoffs let’s talk with Dr Kirk a Campbell orthopedic surgeon at NYU langon Orthopedics in today’s injury

Report doc thanks for hopping on with us man you ready to talk some Nick’s basketball let’s talk some basketball super excited to be here all right this team’s been banged up pretty much all season and two guys that fans want off the injury report is OG anobi and Mitch

Robinson uh OG as you know had surgery back in February to remove a loose bone fragment in his elbow he returned to the court on March 12th he reinjured That Elbow my man’s been out since we both know what he means to this team so how do you think the Nick’s training staff

Treats this injury does he rest completely or can he at least do light workouts and get that out there on some light Court action fantastic question we all know that OG is extremely important you know to the Knicks uh you know unfortunately he did have a setback the

Good news for Nicks fans out there is that he had an MRI uh and the reports are that you know the MRI did not show any new damage there was some inflammation in his uh elbow uh and I think the Nick staff we going to do a

Really fantastic job of making sure that they’re appropriately rehabing him to get him back on the court in a safe time frame what does rehab look like for OG you know so in terms of rehabbing him they’re going to to rest him uh allow the inflammation in the elbow to really

Calm down he will be able to continue uh with his conditioning uh you know program to make sure that when he does get back to the cour from a conditioning standpoint he’ll be uh ready to go all right so that’s from the conditioning standpoint we know how much of a

Physical player he is when he’s out there on the court how close to 100% do you think he can get for the playoffs with just only 13 games left so he likely will not get to 100% but I think he’ll be you know very very uh close uh

To being uh normal prior to the playoffs as you mentioned there’s about three uh three and a half weeks left in the regular uh season uh so the staff is doing everything they can to really get him back uh you know on the court he’ll be very close maybe not 100% but you

Know let’s be honest at this stage of the Season everybody’s playing uh you know with some type of injury nobody’s at 100% do you think when he gets back there back on the court do you think we’ll see him in some sort of noticeable pain or will he have what’s his what’s

The pain management going to be like for him when he gets back out there you know so hopefully prior to getting back he’ll be pay uh free right he may have some discomfort but you know the staff uh you know the training staff The Physician staff from the next you know they’re

Really fantastic they’ll make sure he’s very comfortable uh and if he’s not I’m sure they will not risk uh you know further uh long-term injury uh for him all right we’re talking playoff time so they’re going to need all hands on deck for that one so hopefully when he gets

Out there he’s like as close to 100% as possible uh they got some good news Big Man Mitchell Robinson went through contact at practice on Wednesday he underwent ankle surgery this fall tip said that he has to go through contct for a while before returning to play can

You break that down for us like what do team doctors have to see from Mitch Rob in the final stages of his rehab for him to be cleared for game action so really fantastic question very important player for the Knicks he’s a very very physical player uh really great news coming out

Of uh you know Nick’s facilities that he’s there uh you know doing some contact after a surgery we have to make sure that the players have responded well uh to being back on the court right so he did his conditioning work now he’s there uh practice going through plays

We’re going to see how he responds during that practice more importantly we’re going to see how he responds after the practice is there a significant pain is there significant swelling and then what happens the day after that is he able to get back out there and you know

I’m sure they’re going to slowly ramp him back up uh to get him back on the court in a safe fashion hopefully before uh you know playoff time uh he should be able to get back out there but let’s say he comes back like around that playoff

Time that playoff Mark how long until he gets his conditioning his conditioning back there’s rehab speed practice speed and game speed how long till he gets caught up to the game speed yeah so game game speed is’s only one way you get game speed right you have to be out

There uh and you know I think he’s gonna have to really work really hard to get back uh you know uh in a game shape uh everybody else they’ve been playing for 82 games right you know he’s coming back uh end of the season and it’s the more

Important part uh of the season but you know again uh you know I’m sure the staff has a really fantastic you know uh rehab uh program for him and conditioning program to make sure he’s back up to speed you likely will not see him uh you know playing a full game but

You know anything uh he’s able to do out there big help for the team can he be effective in the playoffs you think 100% he’s a very physical player he’s leading the league in offensive rebounds uh you know there I think you know he’s going

To do a really fantastic job uh you know once he gets back as long as there’s no setbacks being the caveat I think for the first time we’ve done an injury report Nick’s fans can walk away with this with some good news you know getting some guys back so uh doc thanks

For join absolutely I know thanks for hopping on with us hey thanks for having me

Dr. Kirk A. Campbell, a sports orthopedic surgeon at NYU Langone Orthopedics, joins New York Post Sports anchor Brandon London to explain the standard process for Knicks center Mitchell Robinson to return to the court after undergoing ankle surgery in mid-December and why OG Anunoby’s elbow is being managed by the ‘Bockers in a specific way after the defensive dynamo played in just three of New York’s last 23 games.

  1. OG is careless. He's dunking and hanging off the rim with tha bad arm. He's helping teammates off the floor with the bad arm. I could only imagine what else he's shouldn't be doing at home with his bad arm.

  2. You srs rn ? My guy wore his work uniform for this ? Why do I think I’m pretty sure he shouldn’t be doing this . Looking like Tracey Morgan
