Dissecting the Sixers’ 101-94 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers

Dissecting the Sixers’ 101-94 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers

The Sixers suffered from a severe case of the poor shooting Blues you are locked on 76ers your daily Philadelphia 76ers podcast part of the locked on podcast Network your team every Day thank you for making locked on 76ers your first listen every day we are free and available wherever you get your podcast and on YouTube part of the lock on podcast Network your team every day well last night the 76ers lost 101 to 94 to the Los Angeles Lakers and I’m

Here to tell y you know the Sixers played hard they did everything that you can ask them to do besides make shots seriously everything you can ask him to do besides make shots they made the score was close the game was close Tyrese Maxi was balling Tobias Harris was doing the

Thing Kelly UB was was was playing like Kelly UB has played the last 20 so games where he was just out there just giving it to people right the problem is this team just couldn’t make any shots I mean you look at it the 76ers shot the ball shot the ball 23 more

Times than the Lakers the Sixers shot 33 for 96 the Lakers shot 32 for 73 so the Sixers shot 34.4% from the field whereas the Lakers shot 43.8 and it’s a little worse when we talk about three-point shots the Sixers were eight for 37 on threes for

21.6% while the Lakers were 12 for 31 38.7 so you know again and when I say when you say what you mean to buyas them was playing well what do you mean Kelly UB was playing well and this and that um Maxi and the team shot poorly yes they

Were part of the guy’s struggle but their overall play I me you look at Tyrese Maxi he had 27 points he had three steals he had he had three assists right but he yes he shot 10 for 26 he was one for nine on threes and then you

Go to Kelly UB Jr who was at 19 points he was six for 18 from the field one for five on threes he was six for seven from the foul line he had six rebounds three assists three steals two turnovers and a block and then you go to Tobias Harris

Now Kelly UB was the him and Kyle Lowry and moama were the only players on the team that didn’t have a negative like plus minus right so moamba was right at even Kyle was a plus two Kelly was a plus three so then we go to Tobias Harris first game back after missing

Three with a sprained right ankle looked like he landed Gendry on that ankle in the uh in the fourth quarter so we’ll see how that goes but he had 16 points he had 13 rebounds four assists one block one still he had two turnovers he shot six

For 18 from the field and he was one for six now he started out the game two for eight so when you factor that you know two for eight then he came back and he was what four for 10 the rest of the game 40% um but and the thing that got

Me with Kelly is I felt like you know I know Tyrese Maxi was baking he was moving he was Groove and everything was working out for him but I felt like that Kelly became too much of a bystander you know as the game went along you know early on he he played

Well but I felt like once the the Sixers start like getting into the groove especially in that fourth quarter you know Kelly was just standing around watching and I felt like there were times where his ability to cut to the basket and do some of the other things

That he can do that where I felt like they needed to give him the ball and they and they just didn’t right I mean in the second half he had six points you know but Maxi was cooking he he had 22 he shot eight for 19 in the second half

Maxi did um but I felt like Kelly need to get the ball kelly didn’t attempt a single shot in the fourth quarter not a single shot the only stat that he had was a Ste and you know I just felt like you know to um they they shot the ball

In the fourth quarter they shot the ball 23 times uh Maxi shot 13 he was four for 13 in the fourth quarter 0 for four on threes he had 11 points so you know I just felt like they needed to get Kelly a little bit more involved I really did

Um and I feel like that would have benefited the Sixers it would have helped them out um and who knows what could have happened right but the the thing is um I mean taking the shooting out I feel like they played better they played as like I

Said they played good I mean and I know you’re saying what you mean good Pompei when they shot as poorly as they have I’m just talking about the effort the thing is I wonder how if that effort is going to continue if they continue to

Take law is like this right now to me the Lakers game was the most winnable game of them all I felt like they would have a tough time but I don’t know if they’re going to be in this thing tomorrow against the Clippers and then they have a back to

Back where they go to Sacramento right for Monday and that’s when we go into like Kyle Lowry about to be 30 is he going to be able to um you know is is is is he going to be able to play on backtack games now without without him you know I think

They could be in trouble right you know you look at him he doesn’t score a lot of points he doesn’t anything but you notice he and UB were the only two players with a plus right he UB and both Obama were the only three players that didn’t have a

Minus so he does certain things he makes winning plays that don’t really show up in in the Box Score so to speak right so I think losing him is going to it’s going to if he doesn’t play it’s going to hurt them right so we’ll see how that

Goes but uh you know the 76ers still in eighth place he still got um you know ways to go um you know that Joel embiid is still on Pace to return but you know this was a game that they needed to win in my opinion um and they

Got to get this shooting thing because they’ve been struggling mindly might toly since the All-Star break now granted we all know that since the allstar break Joel EMB was wasn’t wasn’t playing and and and everything like that so we get it but you know it’s funny when we talk about their uh

Shooting offensive rating right get this the 76ers were rent 27th in the NBA in offensive rating since the All-Star break that’s not good and then when you look at three-point percentage right pre-point percentage right in entering the game they were ranked 20th in three point percentage and that’s just the whole

Season and they made just eight of 37 shots behind the arc against the Lakers so these are two things that they got to address they got to get their overall offensive rating up and especially they got to get this three-point shooting thing up because it’s crazy and you know

We talk about this and I can talk about it for days and days and days and days and days again so I mean this takes me back to when they waved Isaiah Joe right like you had a three-point shooter you felt like he wasn’t any good or he couldn’t beat out

For conc M and then what happens is you trade him to OKC he becomes the man and now feron is not even on the team and Furon really wasn’t getting any minutes so I don’t understand it and just like you had all these centers and what happened every quality Center that they

Had they traded or didn’t bring back I mean it’s just I don’t know so now we’re in a a point where they miss it right they literally miss it you know buddy heill I hate to say it but he hasn’t lived up to the hype that he had now who knows it

Could change when Joel and be comes back I said that before you know he might be a a play Setter but when you look at buddy last night you know what I mean buddy had five points on two for six shooting overall he was one for three on

Threes right you know one for three you say oh that ain’t bad 33 3% one for three like two for three would have been great right who knows one might have rimmed out and it would have been two for three but but this is your best three-point shooter now you look at Maxi

We talked about it one for nine Kyle Lowry one for four you know mo bomba is the center and he was the best three-point shooter on this night he was literally he was two for five so then you have um you you you have Tobias one

For six UB one for five baton 0 for two healed one for three and uh campaign one for one for three they got to do better than that y’all they do they do and the sav them Grace is they shot 83.3% from the from the uh foul line so

That was cool but they had nine turnovers compared to 21 by the Lakers and be honest with you that’s what kept them in the game the Lakers are just giving the ball away just giving the ball away so that’s who we are listen y’all I want to thank y’all for

Listening to this quick quick recap you know just something to um give you guys the morning um the Sixers again they play uh the Clippers tomorrow it’ll be a game against James Harden facing the Sixers for the first time since he forced the trade in November one um so

It was a lot to talk about um you know KJ Martin will play against his former team so we’ll ni oon we’ll see what type of Applause they get um the Clippers have been playing really well so this should be an exciting game um I expect the Sixers to

Lose but it should be exciting uh nonetheless I want to thank y’all for listening have a blessed day but I before we go I want to thank y’all for making lock on 76 is your first listen every day we are free and available you get your podcast and on YouTube part of

  1. Sometimes when these players get negatives as you so call them that is so overrated a negative also means that you tried to do something never tries to do anything plays it safe comes down and passes the ball to somebody else😎

  2. Poor shooting night the Sixers never find a solution to anything. Kobe Bryant always said, when you're playing away find a place to practice shooting. There's always an answer to a solution you just have to figure it out. You can't use their floor to practice before a game?
