Is it time to give up on the Phoenix Suns after loss to short-handed San Antonio Spurs?

Is it time to give up on the Phoenix Suns after loss to short-handed San Antonio Spurs?

Let’s start with the audible anger of Tim Kempton he’s not wrong Jeremy Sohan had missed 16 consecutive three-pointers before that shot he had missed his first six last night however Jeremy soan a had a very good basketball game and is a willing three-point shooter why in the

World was Jeremy soan that white open what was reyce O’Neal doing on that possession Kellen olssen he is trying to contain any semblance of Dural penetration and basically in his position with the scouting report on soan basically in a spot where I am going to play free

Safety basically and if that comes to the detriment of this guy getting wide open then that’s fine that’s what we’re doing now a difficult part of this is how much of that is true in terms of what The Scouting Report was like was he specifically told in that instance or

Was he coached in that instance to basically leave soan wide open to contain everything else or was it like help off of the shooter but you should still like keep a safe distance with him so you can close out thought the Suns in in the first half at least were

Doing an okay job of like at least contesting to Shooters they weren’t they were leaving them open but at the same time at least making them get up a shot with a contest that was something that they didn’t do against Milwaukee but listen to the sentence I just said I’m

Giving them credit for contesting jump shots it’s ridiculous it’s absurd um the soan thing to get to get angry about that of all things I think is is crazy because guess what if he makes a three in the fourth quarter when they’re up 27 like they should be then it doesn’t

Matter but you put yourself in a position to be beat by anything yes and Time After Time game after game this season we’ve talked about do not let these teams get comfortable and confident because they’re going to see the way you play in the first quarter

And be like oh we can we can maybe win this game and then they try and win the game they’re like oh we can definitely win this game and then they start playing with more confidence Deon Vel who was terrible on Saturday gets a wide open dunk and all of a sudden he’s

Making everything yeah that’s all it takes these guys are really good time and time and time again for a long time in that game it looked like the suns were content doing just enough to win like they thought like we’re we’re going to just we’re going to do just enough to

Win we’ll get the win and we’ll move on my perception was they thought they could do that and they do it time and time and time again this was Frank Bogle the head coach after the game it’s unacceptable to lose that game you know for our guys you know we all said the

Right things we all uh did the right preparation to come in but we didn’t play with the necessary focus in disposition uh throughout uh I would say the first half and you give a team like that life and that’s how the NBA Works they get they get going they get charged

Up they start believeing they can they have a chance to win it and um credit those guys they you know with Victor out those guys played really well to quote mle crew this is the Same Old Situation the Phoenix Suns will let you know what kind of effort they’re going to put

Forth very early in a game you could tell from the jump last night there was very little interest in having another complete 48 minute Victory they had no passion they had nothing resembl energy early in that game and it showed and this is again three games after they did

The exact same thing against a much better team who was missing their best player in the Milwaukee Bucks in a game after they actually did the thing against the same exact team yes in the same exact building and Frank vogle said on Saturday night Kellen we expect a

Much different energy from them well of course you just kicked their butts they got a much different energy so did the Suns the sun’s different energy was none and there’s so much to pick apart from this game Frank vogle to me in that sound bite sounds like a coach who

Realizes these guys aren’t listening to me when he talks about saying the right things and doing the right preparation and then not coming out with the requisite passion it needs you need to play in an NBA game I think he’s at his wits end I think the players by their

Actions appear to be at their wits end it’s such a frustrating this is the most frustrating Suns team I have seen in 45 years of watching this franchise to go back to something you said there just a minute ago you said 48 minutes right like a complete 48 minute effort we

Haven’t seen that all year even in the good games this team has had and the reason why they are not going to be in the finals they are not going to be in the Western confence Finals I don’t think they’re going to be in the second round of the playoffs this year is

Because they have not proven that they are capable of a full 40 minute effort not 48 40 they’re lucky to get to 30 most nights they cannot play consistent basketball over the course of a full game and guess what that is all the playoffs is what we learned a ton of

Over the finals run especially is possession by possession it can really just be a couple of possessions that changes games and we know the landscape of the West we know how hyper competitive it is you are going to be facing a really tall task in the first

Round and and they are not going to get away with what they’ve been not even doing in these games but doing in the games that they’re getting up for like it’s it’s the same stuff and we’ve been talking about it for three months now at

This point Colin can I ask you in your opinion how does that happen then when your team is led by two of the all-time most focused hardcore basketball people in Duran and Booker because there is a disconnect somewhere Now where’s the disconnect we can sit here and speculate we can say it’s a

Disconnect of Frank vogel’s message not getting through to the team we can say it’s a disconnect of Frank vogle not bringing the right message to the team we can say it’s a disconnect of Booker and Durant’s leadership not getting through to the guys we can say it’s a

Disconnect of Booker and Durant not connecting with their team it’s one of those things maybe it’s all of those things but this team is broken they’re straight up broken we said there was a disconnect though between Monty Williams and the team there was a disconnect between no no no that’s completely

Different that’s completely don’t do that that’s completely different that team had a culture and identity you knew what that team was what is this team we still don’t know what is it and there’s another team in the Western Conference that’s going through it right now too searching for an identity the LA

Clippers they lost again last night their head coach tyou came out and said we’re soft that’s our identity we’re soft right now that’s a motivational tactic I don’t I I don’t think this thing is salvageable last night was the last straw for me and I didn’t feel

Great about it before last night but man that was just unacceptable is the perfect word but everybody said it afterwards why is it not accept unacceptable when the ball gets tossed and it’s clear to everybody yeah we’re going through the motions here let’s get our crap together on the sideline and go

Out and compete probably the worst thing that could have happened three losses to the San Antonio Spurs in one basketball season they’ve only beaten 13 other teams this year wanyama being out was probably the worst thing that could happen if in fact that changed their mindset about okay we don’t need to give

48 minutes tonight thanks for watching Bickley and marada click to see the latest Bley blast and hit the button in the middle to subscribe to Arizona Sports

The Phoenix Suns fell 104-102 against a San Antonio Spurs team without Victor Wembanyama. Vince Marotta and Kellan Olson debate whether it’s time to give up hope that this Suns team can regroup to make a playoff run this season.

  1. YES. ABSOLUTELY. This team SUCKS. GUTLESS FVCKING TRASH. Most disappointing and rudderless Suns team since 1995-96. A loss like that eliminates any final hope. They are NOT going to magically click once the play in, yes, PLAY IN starts. They are NOT making #6 or higher. They will be properly DUSTED AND DESTROYED in the play in which at this point with the brutal final 10? Isn't even guaranteed. At this point just try to outlast Golden State and/or Houston for #10…..SEASON OVER. ACCEPT IT.

  2. When the game started, I was thinking “No Wemby, this is unfair, PHX will destroy them”. Oh man. Such disappointment.

  3. Ish is killed this team last year and now it’s evident. Thinking you can piecemeal a team together in a years time and the team has no continuity or desire.

  4. It’s been that time since December but people wanted to remain patient believing this team would turn it around

  5. Once you look at it from the perspective of, the league is rigged and manipulated for gambling purposes. You'll never look at it the same anymore, and these types of long shot losses start to make alot more sense.

  6. Without a doubt. I hate saying that, but it's been the same message all season. They feel that they can get by on talent alone. Execution is their downfall. When they are locked in it's a beautiful game, but when they aren't, this is what we get. They let teams get too comfortable and have to work harder than they need to in order to get back in it. It's a joke.

  7. Crazy how the main difference is chris paul and DeAndre Ayton and we go from being the best team in the NBA to mediocrity…

  8. I feel bad for the fans who actually spend money to go and watch these games, spend money on jerseys and shoes etc etc….the players go home and eat shrimp, steak and have no worries. They are just employees…high paid type.

  9. I gave up on the season when they lost to Houston a few weeks back. You guys finally waking up to what this team is?

  10. Phoenix is just like the clippers.effort, effort, effort, and both teams coaches are not getting through to their players.the players have tuned out their coaches and among themselves.just watch both teams body language.its pitiful.

  11. Not ready to give up on them just yet, Celtics lost to the hawks last night too. Good teams losing to bad teams happen.

  12. No heart, no grind, no willingness to do the little things to win equal’s no chip…

  13. In retrospect, we probably should have kept CP3 one more year and paid him the 30 million. I mean they are not playing any better without him. Honestly I think one of the Big 3 needs to go in order to get better pieces because I don’t think hiring a new coach and putting different Vet Min guys around them would work

  14. I will never understand how the Suns after Nash went through mediocre PGs and were TERRIBLE until they got a legit PG in CP3 then now all of a sudden believed they don’t need a PG again.

How this organization lacks to see the importance of the position considering how important Nash and CP3 have been on this team in recent years is beyond me.

  15. Book and KD don’t have the intangibles to raise the floor of the team, they lack leadership skills and both can be pushed around.

  16. Vogel biggest problem is roatations and Deciding lineups and adjustments in game . I would be okay bol 20 minutes every night . And tell Booker he needs to play make more

  17. I have no hope they'll figure it out and if Nurk misses any time in the playoffs this team has shown they cannot win a single game without him. Eubanks is horrible, it's shameful they don't have better Center depth

  18. Book is the de facto leader of the team given his tenure here and all-star pedigree. Problem is, he’s lost the killer instinct. Too much time distracted selling sneakers?

  19. What if we don't even make the playoffs? The schedule we have remaining and the way we are playing? We might not even make the play in

  20. The disconnect is too much weed smoking by their star player. That is why there is no passion. It is setting the lackadaisical tone for the whole team.
