The San Antonio Spurs defeat the Utah Jazz, 118-111. Devin Vassell led the Spurs with 31 points and 6 assists while Victor Wembanyama added 19 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 blocks (21st 5-BLK game of year, no other player has more than 9). Collin Sexton (26 points, 9 assists) and Lauri Markkanen (25 points, 3 3PM, 6 rebounds) led the Jazz in the loss. The Spurs move to 17-56 as the Jazz fall to 29-44.

The Jazz are eliminated from postseason contention with the loss and wins by Golden State and Houston tonight.

Victor Wembanyama (222 blocks, 79 steals) becomes the first Rookie to eclipse 300+ combined blocks AND steals in a season since Shaquille O’Neal in 1992-93.

Since these stats were recorded in 1973-74, Wembanyama is the sixth Rookie to eclipse this mark, joining:

Shaquille O’Neal (1992-93)
David Robinson (1989-90)
Manute Bol (1985-86)
Hakeem Olajuwon (1984-85)
Terry Tyler (1978-79)

Victor Wembanyama is only the THIRD PLAYER to total 300+ combined blocks AND steals in a season since 2014-15:

Anthony Davis (2017-18) – 193 BLKS, 115 STLS
Hassan Whiteside (2015-16) – 313 BLKS, 44 STLS
Anthony Davis (2014-15) – 200 BLKS, 100 STLS

  2. Congratulations Spurs, that was a true team victory, with 40 assists and distributed scoring. Can't count on that kind of three-point shooting every night, but it's nice when it happens.

Remaining schedule looks tough, hopefully the team chemistry will keep going though.

  5. When the tank’s engine failed again … spurs show a glimpse of what young beasts they have on the future… bruh! Spurs only tanking they’re not the worst team this season LoL πŸ˜‚πŸ˜…

  6. Honestly they could keep Vassell, he’s been playing good. Please god get rid of everyone else though and get Wemby some great talent

  7. Wemby is the second best player ever, right behind MJ. He can do everything, and do it awesome. Offense, defense, protect the rim, pass, shoot the three, and dribble. Plus, no one dares to try anything anywhere around the rim. And he's not lazy. At 7'4" he runs up and down court with lots of energy. His free throws are good enough, and will improve.

  8. What Vassell lacks is consistency. If he can play like this in most of their games and can develop a bit of playmaking and learn how to have better shot selection, I honestly think he can be a star.
