ESPN reacts to Jalen Green 37-Pts lead Rockets beat Thunder 132-126 in OT to extend win streak to 10

Where it was in the standings with basketball began tonight Adam W alongside the Hall of Famer Calvin Murphy Gerald Green we had a lot to discuss over the course of this game and then the final seven minutes or so uh The Rock has finally said once and for all we’re not losing

Tonight let me calm down from in here once again I’m G say I’m GNA say uh I disagree with Jabari the Rockets had a great game because everybody had a piece of the pie in winning this game tonight everyone now of course they made some mistakes but they made up for the

Mistakes this is the first time this year that the Rockets bench has been outplayed doesn’t matter because they found a way to win anyway the Rockets starter say you know what let’s give them a night off let’s go out win for the for the boys ourselves you know what

They it’s the way they play tonight is just it just it’s just the they’re growing so much I just feel like they’re just growing in front of our eyes every game every game three weeks ago four weeks ago last month before the All-Star break Rockets lose this game easily

Easily but the fact that they wi themselves to win they wied themselves they would not give up they was making huge plays down the stretch huge plays in overtime I mean the Rockets played a really good game I I disagree with jaar as well yeah they did some things late

In this game I mentioned the five minute overtime period final two minutes of Regulation is where they looked like it had Slipped Away fell down five the subject of our breakdown feature presented by Memorial Herman Rockets Orthopedics Calvin we we pick it up and the rockets had fallen behind here late

In the fourth quarter they’re down five were under 140 left and they just kept making plays well you know no I’m I’m sorry just amen Thompson this is a shot he had to make F 26 OKC missing shots late so that was the final score Jaylen

In that overtime period hit both of his shots scored five points and had three of their assists he had already had an unbelievable game offensively and he really drove this team to Victory the latest assist in regulation to Jabari and he was Flawless there in over time

Well well here again and you you said it many a day we’re watching them grow up right before our eyes they’re not making the same mistake twice what they’re doing they’re learning how to win they’re learning how to to make things happen as a unit opposed as to the

Individual you know what they are really learning how to win I I I think you know they’ve always been a hard playing team but just because you play hard ain’t going that ain’t going that’s not that ain’t going that’s not enough to win this league they’re too good everybody

Plays hard got to be smart now they’re exactly murf they’re playing with some type of sense some type of urgency they’re they’re they’re they’re spacing out they’re moving the ball they’re like murf said earlier their help defense is always there in the first the first first half of the season the help def

Some help defense was Sometime Late they’re learning how to win games even when they shouldn’t be winning and I think this was another EX another example of the Rockers just growing and they played a fantastic game tonight I I really do talked a lot about this winning streak reaching 10 could also

Mention their Road winning streak reaches six and prior to that six game winning streak they had five Road wins all season I don’t think there’s much doubt our Infinity in the driver seat is the man who’s been Sensational over his last 14 games all month long that is

Jaylen green he had two points like that I feel like he’s taking over the games he’s putting the rockets on their back and and quite frankly the Rockers are just riding with them they’re riding with him they they riding with him and once again once again I’ve got to give

The the coaching staff some love in this situation because they’ve instilled confidence in their players by letting them do what they do not trying to change their game not to over Coach them let them go ahead and make the mistakes if they make too many then they make a

Substitution another situation we talked about in the past I like the combinations he puts in uh uh throughout the game he’s making the other team have to play what the Rockets are trying to do opposed to the other way around continue to win all these games three rotation players unavailable with E and

Whitmore and shenon and obviously two of them left during this winning streak which has just kept going you just gave some credit to the coaching staff let’s hear from the head coach eme udoka say the first two or three times took a second um for him to recognize

And get off it and then the guys were rolling too far taking themselves out of the play and so um you know I think it was one turn over too many after he kind of noticed what what they were doing but um you know trust him he’s he’s really adjusted and

Done a good job against against traps and blitzes lately and trusting his guys and you know finding the pocket and getting the number so um you know something that’s going to be constantly he has to work on for a young guy but you know sometimes he beats it and or

Sometimes simple as making the right play and having four on three behind it you trust his pass to Jabari in the cor what do it say in that situ ation send that pass to the guy three line yeah it was huge we just showed the team that it was our basically our

Favorite play of the game um you know we know that they’re a team that loads up the paint obviously hr’s in there but without him they were really going to come over and try to take charges like on the last play of Regulation so uh we

Just showed it four guys in the paint he made the right pass and to to your point guy who was struggling all night Dylan made two big ones after going one for nine and then Jabari who was struggling with the fouls early didn’t hesitate and Jaylen didn’t hesitate to pass to him so

Great pass great growth um proud of them for that play what did you think of your team’s resiliency specifically in over time yeah it was good I mean it was a high scoring overtime so we didn’t necessarily get a ton of stops but we

Scored at good clip 20 to 14 um you know I loved that we felt like we gave one away late when we should have taken the foul um had a decent look at a shot but uh you know we we felt okay put it behind us nobody hung their head and we

Just went after it and so till to to my point what I said earli earlier um it was big that Dylan came out hit those two and then we guarded obviously better until the end of the overtime so love the way they pushed through it regardless no nobody hung their head and

Um got it done what’s the significance of the game streak for you consistency consistent basketball I mean that’s for the most part tonight was a little up and down great start um little ugly in the second and third but always kept in a Striking Distance you

Know we you know I think their biggest lead was eight and was always floating around that five and weren’t playing that well so we knew we had a good chance there if we stepped up and made a little harder on them defensively but I think I’d say consistency across the

Board that’s the main thing um that we have been more consistent in what we’re doing um can rely on defense when we need to and offense will get going eventually so that’s what we kind of did tonight in the fourth in overtime have that sort of reaction the postgame

Reaction to see how much it means to the guys coming down the tunnel how do everything you just yeah I mean you know I didn’t have the pain of the last three years of all the losing and so you know obviously it means a lot to a lot to them obviously

Myself as well 10 10 a a rows 10 in a row regardless if Shay is out or whatever the case may be but um you that’s hard to do in the NBA and so guys are proud of that effort and um well deserved and so like I said the last

Three years of you know 17 19 22 wins that’s that’s the reaction you’re going to get when you put 10 together in a row how about Thompson’s performance tonight foring 25 points I don’t want to say he had quiet performance cu 25 and 25 but what did you see from him um really

Finding his niche in that dunker spot um attacking when he needed to find him making the right plays 15 rebounds you know six offensively kept kept it alive especially when they went to Zone um quite a bit so you know stat sheet stuffer I mean four assists and you know

He had five fouls I told him he should have had six and that that’s the biggest one of the biggest plays but um yeah 255 and four will’ll take it coach what was the what was the key to neutralizing chat tonight fouls points it’s large the

N yeah I mean going small uh takes away a lot of his lobs that he gets on typical five men or the pick and Pops that he gets sometimes so um being able to switch we put Dylan on him to start and kind of took away some of the things

He does well which is getting behind the you know defense on the rolles and and take away the pops and so just crowded them on the perimeter with our smaller guys and kept them off the glass and then attacked them on the other end you know El leite shot blocker you have to

Just go into the body at times and that was a big part of it obviously getting them in foul trouble I think in the first quarter you guys forced Six turn like 13 14 shots what was the mentality going into game understanding that even pun yeah it was the same game plan

Regardless um we wanted to be more aggressive than we have been in the three games um you know we have a smaller lineup where we can switch and try to uh be a little more physical on them on them um had to adjust to the

Refs calling in I mean it was at I think 17 14 to 7 halftime fouls and 15 to2 free throws so um we didn’t love that part but you have to adjust to it and we’re going to keep playing aggressive and kind of let chips fall where the may

But I think that was the biggest key was trying to make them uncomfortable I think looking at last game U Jaylen Williams um SGA those guys were a little too comfortable or pickup points were too low we wanted to climb up in them a little bit more and give them a little

More resistance be more proactive instead of reactive how much do you guys talking about you know the playing picture and the STS and discussing those things with your team using that as instrument tool yeah we haven’t discussed it at all honestly um everybody sees the standings we know

Where we are but it’s not something we talked about since we’ve been winning and playing better since Allstar break that’s what we’ve been really focusing on is maintaining that standard and playing a consistent level of B fore F St Fury First Blood try me I dare you an ally has been

  1. Man all this talk about what they learning and doing, but can we give Ime some shine too. They seem to have a old school defensive minded coach, and he coahing them to win. Boston overreacted, and gave up the golden goose. Thanks Boston.

  2. What sucks big time is Warriors won back to back yesterday and tonight. Dayum! Hornets need to put that aging team in the dust.

  3. Giddey had too many lucky shots on this game it's crazy. If that is him, then trade Shai already, Thunder doesn't need him. But I think Giddey was on an unbelievable roll and it was his night tonight. Rockets did not game plan on stopping him and he blitzed them each time he touched the ball.
