Raptors hit new ROCK BOTTOM & make history vs. Knicks

BR you so much of the Season You’ been uh it’s about how you can create off the ball kind of moving and cutting and and sort of kind more limited role what have been kind of learning about your game now that you got to kind of initiate

More offense on your own um I mean humbly I think it’s just more of an as in you know as more time goes by I get more comfortable with this it’s just kind of me showing what I can do um with it but um obviously I’m more interested

And just how I can use it to you know help the team um in any way not only just scoring you know get on the floor you know all the kind of the Dirty Work stuff like that whatever I can do I just want to try to bring in um you know

Whatever that like I said the team needs at that point it’s um fun to kind of show everyone that kind of more facets to my game that probably people don’t really see when they they look at me after a it was a tough start to your

Rookie season is it kind of exciting now that you’re able to turn like just a regular pin down stagger sets the dangerous stuff for the team when we show like hey I’m here giving all plots of points night tonight kind of that stuff yeah I think you know at the same

Time it’s just opportunity and I’m thankful for the opportunity I’ve been given and and the team that I’m on and and the teammates that I’m with because they make it so much easier for me and you know as we you know made some of those trades in the middle of the season

And got guys like RJ and um quick that you know brought a ton of attention you know made it only easier for me and you know guys like me and Gary um to get open shots and so it’s it’s nice to um be able to kind of you know give back

For you know what they’ve you know when they’re driving you know whatnot and getting their own and um open up different things and that allows us to kind of open our offense to them and um so it’s kind of cool when you you get different opportunities like that and

Just play off that play off each other what does it mean to you that you can score 23 points at this level like what kind of confidence does that give you um I mean like I said humbly again um it’s something I’ve feel like i’ I can always

Have the the chance to do um I mean it’s not as much about points you know when we get a tough loss like this um but you know you kind of take away the loss in the game and think about me as a rookie and um what I’ve

Been you know trying to achieve as my dream as a little kid it is cool to think about um that I was able to put up some points but at the same time you know it really doesn’t mean anything without a win um so that’s kind of it to

That but I mean I’m going out there and just you know try to play my game every night the linging jayen Brunson uh sometimes in space and you know what do you what was that kind of experience like what do how do you kind of measure yourself in that

Kind of match up yeah it’s tough I mean it’s tough to guard a guy like that um that’s you know so quick and um just so so low to the ground where um you got to just stay on them you can’t um just waste any time with it because you look

Away one stck you know you could just be going around you so um but in my situation it’s it’s amazing for me and I need that um um you know I always talk about at my age but at my age you know that’s what what I need as a rookie I’m

Playing against guys like that and just getting me prepared for um the next you know possessions leading forward and just the next games and then more into the future with you know different years so it’s um great going against guys like that not in not out mention the loss um

Obviously you’re used to winning most of your games what’s this loss like how are you dealing with all these losses basically it’s different obviously see with you know how many games we play in the NBA compared to um college right now we have like nine or 10 left and that’s

A big chunk of the college season and we’re thinking you know this is just a couple weeks so it’s just crazy to think about um cuz you know you’re in college and I’m yeah used to you lose a tough game you got all week to think about it

And it’s just kind of you know stinks that whole week but U I think the thing about that I’m learning you know quick at the start of the Season you know through the Vets was um how you can’t just you know dwell on what just happened um with you how quick the

Turnarounds are you just got to move on to the next one and um obviously take some time and think about what we can you know do better but at the same time um just build from that and then just move forward and just kind of think

About the think about the future in a way Sim similarly um what is there anything from this season maybe either from your own perspective or like what’s going on on the team as a whole um are there any lessons that you think that you’ll take into maybe the later years

Of your your career maybe think back like oh like because that happened in my rookie season SE I can kind of learn from it or something like that of course I think you know I found out quick just with the changes and just kind of the the craziness of Trades and and through

That where you know you’re your boy’s with you one night and then you know the next morning he’s you know off to a different city which is you know crazy in my eyes for the first time seeing that so I think it’s just um look for the changes but I think the biggest

Thing is really just be prepared for anything um you know you never know when your name’s going to be called and you it could be randomly in a game and then some guys might be out just like you know our season and you’re playing more minutes and you just got to be prepared

For that so I think um learning that from the Vets early too was was amazing with Garrett and you know Thad when he was here in aotto um of just such a long season there’s going to be ups and downs but as long as you’re prepared and you

Stay consistent and you can be ready for you know really anything that the game throws at you so there’s a lot of triple threat in your game footwork is a huge part of it do you guard a guy like Jaylen Brunson or watch him how he moves

Throughout the game and try and pick things up he’s one of the best in the league sure yeah for sure I mean the way he can yeah like you said triple th when he gets in the paint and just plays off two feet um it’s kind of it’s not

Overlooked don’t get me wrong it’s it’s but it’s like the fundamentals that people Overlook um and you know if they wonder why he scores so much it’s just because he plays the game you know the right way and you know gets in there and makes the right decisions and you know

If he doesn’t have a shot he passes out to teammates and he draws the attention so um it’s definitely great to play against guys like that like I said earlier with with you know that helps me out and um definitely just helps out our defense when we can learn from different

Things like that and how we can use it to next games Additionally the stutter rip I think is your most common move out of the Triple Threat which which player did you pick that up from do you remember I don’t know I think it was just summer workouts when I was little

Um just trying to like you said when I get my triple threat I got to figure out different ways if I’m not going to shoot it or or pass it how I can get open and um I found out that I mean just over time that works so want to suck it up

And get ready for Sunday what what Happ I mean got to get ready for uh for Sunday but also uh cannot take anything for granted you know anytime when you step on the floor all all I’m asking for is give your best and give your best not just

Physically but also you know following the game plan and being focused you know focus is a is a big one and uh I thought that tonight uh obviously they are more physical team but uh bigger and bit more physical team I thought that our uh

Focus was not where it needs to be and uh where that’s that’s area where we can get better over here we’re going to have uh three days uh opportunity to to practice and watch film and uh and learn from those mistakes and get better is that surprising given that so many guys

Are actually playing for their jobs and I don’t think it’s uh surprising uh it’s um you know maybe maybe disappointing you know but uh it’s not easy for this group of guy guys to hold ground every single night you know and then a lot of games lately

We were very competitive we staying in a game and uh you know nights like this happen and hopefully we learn from this and and get better and uh on Sunday we play a much much more competitive game just to be clear you’re not thinking or or sensing an effort problem or of a

Concentration and focus I I thought that was a combination of uh of both tonight to be honest with you it was a little bit of of effort but like when somebody’s like twice your size there’s not much that you can do especially like rebounding uh they got uh 16 offensive rebounds when Mitchell

Robinson he checked in on the court looked like a giant out there but uh that’s uh that’s that’s that’s the moment we’re in and uh we got to find a way you know you we cannot just rely on one player to rebound the ball we got to be more

Focus to to send more people inside and to to do better job rebounding the ball and offensively to take care of of the ball as well uh we scored 59 points in the first half we had 20 assists in the first half but uh we we were not able to

Sustain that that uh offensive game in the second part most of those competitive games you mentioned recently have been on the road it seems like a lot of these types of nights have come at home recently is that disappointing something that you guys have talked about maybe just in terms of like being

More competitive and defending home court better yeah I mean I always tell tell our team that we have the best fans in the world and that they deserve our best effort every single night you know so uh um unfortunately but it it was the case uh last last couple of games but uh

I’m hopeful we can uh turn this around and then be much more competitive at home as well you’ve uh you’ve obviously been a head coach at different levels this is your first time as a head coach in the NBA with some of these bullet losses and some of the like a difficult

Season to be sure are you learning anything about how you approach trying to get like the maximum maximum effort how to stick to the game plan over time and all the different guys coming in what have you learned this season regarding that um definitely I’m learning a lot this this whole year I’m

Learning a lot just the different situations that we are facing um night in and night out you know we did not plan for roai to get injured in the first quarter and it’s just like how how to continue staying competitive in those games is the most important thing for me

And finding ways to to improve I thought that the Grady tonight uh that he had some some really good moments out there uh for us but uh it has to go to another level and it’s always like asking for more and always asking for better execution and better focus and and all

Of that so it’s U it’s with a big uh change of players night in and night out it’s not making it easier but uh it’s the the moment that we’re in uh we got to see the big picture and really focus on developing pieces and plant seeds

That going to give us great fruits in the future obviously Garrett has had an impact on you guys all year even if we haven’t seen it even if it’s been in the room but when the 37-year-old is out there diving on the floor and and those hustle plays doing those little things

How how good of an example is that for the young guys that’s that’s absolutely great example you know for somebody who’s been in league for such a long time to understand what takes to compete and win at this level uh I think he’s a great example you know for for a big

Part of the year he was great example you know with talk and conversation and Leadership and lock room and now he’s uh he’s able to go out there and uh you know to show that his words are not just words that he’s capable to follow the

Game plan and to be focused and to give the best effort he can as well do you have an update on oai uh not not not yet he’s still um uh doctors evaluating here you know but I don’t have any any update at this point okay the Toronto Raptors make a

Little bit of History some numbers that I need to put into perspective because I feel like our math skills as a society are so low and they have just declined year overy year where to the point where when I was growing up it was pretty ex I

Think it would be pretty absurd that an educated adult could not figure this out but it’s a new age it’s a new age that we’re living in so put this into context these are the worst R these are the worst losses in Raptor history okay now

Depending on how badly you want to feel about this I want to just put this in perspective to me losses um I always consider losses in terms of percentages not in terms of raw raw numbers if the pace picks up like so for instance I’ll give you an example

What’s worse losing 25 to 10 in like a high school game or losing 130 to 110 in a high school game obviously 25 and 10 you weren’t even close right but you lost by 15 versus losing by 20 so I would consider this not as drastic a

Loss as some of the other losses I’m not trying to put a positive spin on it but clearly losing 78 to 122 to the Seattle SuperSonics in 96 or even 74 to18 against the Pistons to me at least feels a little bit worse than 101 to

145 um I will also say that this is kind of interesting because now the Raptor’s worst loss on the road uh came against the New York Knicks in 9596 in their inaugural season if I’m not mistaken and that was uh 125 to 79 and now their

Worst loss at home also is to the Knicks so really really funny in a in a hilarious way if you think about it given that the Raptor’s first ever success in the playoffs with Vince Carter was at the heart of like it was against the Knicks so the Rivalry

Continues if you need and hey this rivalry is going to hit a new Crescendo if OG anobi ends up coming back to Toronto I’m just going to keep saying it let’s let’s just speak it into existence keep speaking it into existence the good things for tonight obviously um couple

Couple more uh couple me couple random things number one OG anobi comes back receiv receives a Standing Ovation people were very excited probably as excited as they were going to be the entire night because there was not a lot to to clap about in this game I tell you

I I tuned in uh two minutes into the first quarter I was a little bit late I was taking a bit of a cesta and um this game I cannot lie I couldn’t stay awake I kept falling asleep I kept catching myself falling asleep like it it was

Like momentary slips where I’m like okay I’m going to really really pay attention to this dble handoff with Kelly oin and then my eyes are just like it is so boring I at this point would rather watch my nephew’s like grade six team play that is way more

Exciting than this uh if you want me to make a list of 250 things that are more exciting than watching a Tonto Raptor game I could probably do it in about 12 minutes it isn’t that hard in fact as an artist artistic expressionist you know type of you know artist I considered

Making this live just pointing this computer at a wall watching paint dry for two hours or even 24 hours as I don’t know people who are very generous pour in the super chats and you know make Raptor history as the first live that goes 24 hours just watching paint

Dry and the whole message of that live would be this is more entertaining than watching the Tron Raptors play basketball right now if you’re not watching the Raptors if you’re just tuning into these lives no shade no disrespect it’s okay I’m supposed to watch these games because I have to

Cover them and I have to talk about them but you don’t have to save your eyes there isn’t much to see here gr dict did go off for a he went off for a career high and he was reasonably good um someone else who was really good Deuce

MC McBride man that guy and jayen Brunson and Mitchell Robinson and everything that is the New York Knicks right now this is a good team it’s a it’s a really good team I don’t know what their ceiling is right now but they are a team that takes care of business

They’re a team that plays really hard and with OG and anobi and with a hopefully bought in um Julius Randle um they can do some damage like I have seen contenders look like this before and um you know there was a lot of talk about Becky Hammond saying your smallest

Player can’t you know your best player can’t be small and she was saying that as a 5 foot6 guard who thrived against the odds in the WNBA but I will say this it seems to have lit a real fire under this Knicks team and you know I have a

Lot of family in New York and a lot of them believe that this could be the year that they go all the way and that is going to be Bittersweet for guys like RJ Barrett and emanel quickley who got shipped out a little bit like I don’t

Know being on the other side of deard Rosen and San Antonio equation um just for context I don’t think the Knicks are gonna win a championship I don’t even think they’re going to make the finals but if they’re in the Eastern Conference Finals I would not be surprised at all

Uh watching the sh watching the Cleveland Cavaliers get smacked tonight by the Charlotte Hornet was non- inspiring Brandon Miller going nuts watching the ending of kawhai Leonard versus the um Philadelphia 76ers was also interesting a team ironically that he has a lot of history hitting big buzzer beaters against and a coach that

You know last coached him when he had that Big B buzzer beater and then of course you know he basically ices the game at the end and Nick nurse was losing his mind that was interesting there was an interesting finish down down uh with uh the Houston Rockets

Versus the OKC Thunder a lot of upsets a lot of upsets today man [ __ ] uh the Charlotte Hornets beating the Clinton Cavaliers was on nobody’s you know expected list of outcomes but that’s what’s happening I want to point to a couple quick quick numbers well one quick number before we bring on a

Special guest Vince uh I think you guys were expecting me to say Vince Carter it’s it’s Vince it’s it’s not Vince Carter um but it is Vince the music guy that that y’all remember and it should be a really Lively discussion we haven’t had we haven’t had a conversation in a while um

Okay so quick thing just for anybody out there I’m going to sound really arrogant and really pretentious when I say this just bear with me and remember I’m a podcaster that you like but I get a little bit assholish about math okay I had a real conversation with someone

Today about why it’s not relevant that the Raptors take how it doesn’t really matter anyway they’re going to get the pick convers like this actually drive me insane so here are the numbers just for clarification just in case you haven’t figured this out yet just in case joint

Probability is not your jam okay these are the numbers for How likely the Raptors are to get which pick as they currently stand by the way so if they move up you can assume that their odds will be the same as Portland’s if they

Move down you know which is to say if um you know the Memphis Grizzlies end up catching us because we end up reeling off a couple wins against teams we shouldn’t be beating or I don’t know if RJ Barrett and Emanuel quickley come back at the end of the year to Stage

Some fan interest or you know I don’t know Scotty Barnes comes back which I don’t think any of these things are going to happen there’s been a lot of talk about RJ coming back IQ coming back a lot of people saying why are we tanking this way look at the [ __ ] odds right

Now your most likely outcome is you move up to top four that’s your most likely outcome but your most likely single outcome is you move down to seven you have you have near 30% chance of one of the teams so basically how would you move down to seven for those of you who

Don’t understand how the lottery works all that needs to happen for you to move down to seven is one team from 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 or 14 just needs to move up to one two three or four and you automatically get up down to seven which

Is why those odds are so high your odds of being eighth are higher than your odds of being first or second your odds of being eighth are higher than your odds of being first and second combined your odds of being eighth are higher than your odds of being third and fourth

Combined your odds of being eighth just to put this into context are higher than your odds of being fourth and sixth combined which means that if you don’t somehow find a way to get to five and you’re probably not going to the most likely outcome on draft night or Lottery

Night is you get the you get the seventh pick but guess what you don’t get the seventh pick San Antonio gets the seventh pick so this is why tanking is so important please screenshot this for the next time someone tries to tell you the tanking is not important it is very

Important okay [ __ ] sorry it’s annoying it’s really annoying okay let’s bring on Vince Vince what up man how you doing what’s going on buddy how are you I’m good how are you I’m I’m good I’m gonna give you a quick quick caveat before um this laptop that I’m currently on does some screwy

Things from time to time so if for whatever reason I cut out or or something happened there’s there’s something crazy going on with my my screen it’s one of the it’s one of the the Mac MacBooks with the um touch bar touch bar is no no old new is last this

Last three three years so it has the touch bar as opposed to the F1 F1 F2 F3 thing okay anyway some [ __ ] happened to it and and it gets screwy but people don’t want to hear about that people want to hear it’s okay look the way the

Way I figure it I have a 2012 Mac or 2011 Mac you have a Mac that may con out and I believe that this current iteration of the Raptors deserves no better than this level of technological proficiency I feel that’s true that’s true anything more would be

Overkill 100% I am 1,000% in the same camp as you you got to lose and you got to lose big um I’m also in the camp that that even if they do luck like first of all I was actually scary I I didn’t know that they had a greater chance of of um

Getting seventh or lower than they had of getting six or higher that is that is 45 it’s 45 uh it’s 45 versus 55 yeah yeah that’s crazy uh I really hope that uh that they get it for for their sake um I I really think that even if

They do get one I think they’re gonna they’re targeting your boy topic or topic however you say that toic and then I and I think they’re gonna I I think they’re gunning for Zack Edy at 18 I I think that’s that’s probably gonna happen unless somebody as unless somebody else takes him

Before what are your thoughts on that not CH no chance in hell I mean I want I want I want to say no chance in hell I’m sorry I see the Zach Ed like I’ve watched him play a lot I mean people have been talking about

Him for a good two and a half years now and every single time people talk about him I was ignoring it for a while then I decided to do some game film I’m sorry there’s just no way in hell there’s no way that a coach that understands pick

And roll as much as Darko is going to petition for like I mean I would be surprised if he didn’t go if he didn’t threaten to go on a hunger strike if we took him no I don’t see it at all um okay someone’s saying is actually 14th in the current draft

With the latest ESPN update okay I mean honestly for us to take him oal I would love to put him and and Shaquille O’Neal in a pool and just show you the agility difference um you know between those two guys no I I look in

Order for Zach Ed to be the pick number one they would would have to massively massively massively believe in his shooting potential and and um I I see elements of it sure um they would also have to believe that he can guard in the pick and roll because I mean right now

You have a guy who is let’s just say proficient at guarding the pick and rooll but not great in Kelly oen and you are getting killed do you see what Mitchell Robinson did to this team tonight like have you seen what athletic bigs have done to this team or even

Stretch bigs have done to this team any skilled big has done to this team you cannot put I want to say he’s unplayable in the NBA for the first little while now again I also said this about luuka Garza and he sometimes gets on the court right people said this about Oscar

Sheway and he gets on the court so maybe bigs are coming back a little bit right but not as a major rotation piece um so yeah if he’s there at 32 I wouldn’t be shocked if they took him I’d be a little bit disappointed it feels lazy um yeah

I’m not I’m sorry top 20 I don’t I don’t see it I could be wrong off the train H I just I I think a lot of people are saying it just based on the Canadian the Canadian can can con yeah um Can can

ED be a Brook Lopez type uh Brook was a way better shooter way way better shooter and I’m sorry like I I think like you know if you’re talking drop drop Bigs like Brook is like the 99.9th percentile outcome of what that type of player could be I don’t I don’t see it

But who knows man like [ __ ] start as a good shooter though he was always a good when he came to the league he was a great shooter I watch I watch I watch him a lot like I I’ve known of this guy for a long long time uh BR and Robin um

Yeah um yeah he he he’s been able to shoot since he was like 15 years old we’re the same age yeah but not threes like he wasn’t he didn’t he didn’t hit like a until like bro in practice he would he would net

Them like he was a long to two guy uh he would he he was very it’s like Chris Bosch like Chris Bosch was hitting you know college threes or long twos in College seak Long twos the shooting potential was always there for these guys um Zak Ed I think the only thing

You could probably flash to is he’s not a horrible free throw shooter right now I mean maybe that’s something but yeah it’s it’s not like yakob purle where you’re like oh there’s no evidence of hit him hitting jump shots at any level anywhere um no it’s like Christian Koko

Like Christian Koko didn’t hit a ton of Threes in in Arizona but he was taking threes as a rookie you saw the potential right so it’s I think it’s maybe not as far along as Christian Colo or definitely not as far along as as as Brooke um but yeah maybe it’s maybe it’s

Something that they can develop maybe it’s something they believe they can teach well I think overall important thing is that is that the like this is rare this is rare territory for Raptors fans to see like this this like like deficiency this kind of like losing we

Haven’t seen this in a while um not even in the in the barani era where we this this bad right and I think they’re they’re 100% like they’re thrown in the towel on the season they are actively tanking they’re trying to lose um so it’s it’s perfectly reasonable but I

Think I’d love to get your take on this I think it’s possible that that obviously they’re not going to tank to this same extent but next year might be painful as well right and and I think I wouldn’t be really against that if you look at OKC you look at Houston they had

Lots of kicks at the can right Houston right now just beat a fantastic OKC team I’ll be it without Shay but they didn’t have shenon right right green he was doing his thing and then Thompson had a fantastic game like you need to collect multiple guys if you want to if you want

To compete and and Scotty’s good you know obviously quickly is good RJ’s RJ’s got a little something I think we need one more thing like one more real player well I mean thank thankfully you have a lot of cap space right you have a lot of flexibility you have a lot of roster

Flexibility um and that flexibility will be more valuable in a in a league that is increasingly facing the pressures of a declining economy um potentially uh some some poor planning I think the ucba caught a lot of teams with their pants down in terms of like what can they

Afford versus what can they not afford in terms of their long-term thinking and there are a lot of teams you know out there like when you start to really project their numbers out like one or two years you’re like they can’t even keep these guys they can’t even keep

These players so now you become a player potentially in restricted free agency where you could take a team and basically I don’t know play chicken with them and just say okay we’re gonna we’re gonna we’re going to sign this guy to a you know $24 million cap sheet and we

Know you’re not going into you know the second apron to keep him you might have to overpay a little bit but that’s like the Lori marketing thing you know with Chicago and Cleveland so yeah I mean you think that’ll happen you certainly could I mean you’ve set yourselves up like the Raptors have

Set themselves up about as well as any team in the league to deal with the the changing economic landscape of the NBA there’s also picks in the vault for the first time in what feels like forever the the big swing here there’s a couple swings really um let’s say three

Swings four swings okay let’s say four swings four things that have to go right for the Raptors in order to avoid the disaster outcome you’re talking about which is being bad next year um so number one obviously Scotty has has to take that next step like from Star to

Superstar like if he can command the game um like a jayen Brunson level you know and of course he’s always going to be a better Defender than Jaylen Brunson I mean offensively if he can just put a team on his back and climb it back like

Like a version of Shay maybe not quite as far along as Shay because Shay’s older and better and whatever but something approaching that conversation like if if next off seon the conversation of is Scotty Barnes gonna be better than Shay gild Alexander it’s not a ridiculous conversation I think he

Has succeeded number two obviously Grady dick um or RJ Barrett or Emanuel quickley have to take a massive leap into second star type of territory and I know a lot of people have automatically assumed that that’s going to be Emanuel Quickly’s job to lose and and I see why

Um but Grady and RJ have more size than him size is helpful in the NBA um Emanuel quickley is entire skill set right now to me screams third option not second option right I would much prefer him as a third option and I mean if you

Look at it like even if the best case scenario is he’s Tyrese Maxi which he’s not and he’s not as good as Tyrese Maxi Tyrese Maxi’s even best case you know scenario right now is as a third option he can do second option stuff with certain lineups but if you’re serious

About a championship and he’s your second best player you’re probably going to lose so that’s my point like if Grady or RJ can take they were they were looking pretty good for a while with uh when embiid was was there that was my nightmare scenario was

Was like I actually called Philly to get to the final if it wasn’t for the embiid injury yeah I think I I don’t think that was ever going to happen I I don’t trust embiid in the playoffs I don’t trust his durability and I just don’t think like

Like look when when when things are new when things are new and a guy is like doing really well and he’s playing a lot of minutes and you know whatever like they’re just I don’t know like they had depths you know I think there’s a lot of depths pieces that were contributing to

Their winning you know Tobias Harris as like um you know Paul Reed I think like DeAnthony Melton like these are really solid role players a lot of solid role players on that team um but yeah like I think like if you want to Stack second best player on a championship team like

Terry Maxi is probably not the best one in the league you know like is he better than Devon Booker no you know is he right so so I mean like and the suns are not contenders is he better than Paul George right now no you know is he better than

LeBron or Anthony Davis no so that’s what that’s what I’m saying like I’m not saying he can’t be a second option on a pretty good team I’m just saying if he is your second option you’re G to be over you’re going to be you’re going to

Be beat on the second option front which is why I thought it was so great when he was the third option behind Harden and embiid because that is a championship court if you could ever get the person personality [ __ ] to work okay so those are the two things that need to work the

Third third sing factor that needs to work obviously is you need to keep this pick you need to keep the sixth overall pick because um you just do like there’s there’s just I mean and it would be even better if you move up and obviously the

The numb suggest that you have just as strong a chance to move up as you do to um move down a pick right so yeah so my expected outcome honestly my expected outcome is we we we going to get sevens because I’m a numbers person and I

Believe in the odds and I think we’re going to end up with sevens sure which is you know [ __ ] sucks right but if we don’t end up with seventh I expect I expect us to end up with third or second or or fourth like one of those three um

First would be way too generous I feel like we haven’t done enough by the NBA Gods you know to to to Warrant that level of blessed Lottery luck it would be hilarious though to to win back-to-back first overall picks in the draft that people were saying there’s no

First overall Talent like with Andrea and now with this draft that would be hilarious to do that um I don’t I actually I thought of that too like the the two worst drafts of all time raptors raptors clinch clinch first on both I don’t okay yeah I mean 2006 is up there

In the running for one of the worst drafts of all time but I will I will remind you Kyle Lowry was in that draft so was Rudy Gay so was Demarcus alridge so is Brandon Roy and if his career doesn’t get derailed the way it did like

I think that draft is a lot better um there were other players but if Lamarcus Al is the best the best In fairness the reason that draft was so depleted is because that was the first year high school players were not allowed in in the draft and that’s why um you know

Kevin Durant and Greg Oden would have been in their draft just think about that the rappers could have won first overall pick with our luck we probably pick Greg Odin but everybody I wouldn’t have I made a video about why why he was the wrong pick on

Draft day so I just want to be clear on that everyone always says well everyone had no Rob strus strikes again okay this was this the [ __ ] started early it started you know a good 18 years ago okay so so those are three things that

Has to work and then and then the fourth thing that has to work is um you know uh you have to hit some sort of success in free agency you know something has to be done with the assets that’s worked out in an intelligent way either that means

You hit like gold um you know with one of these second round picks or you hit gold in a trade where you are able to leverage your flexibility against someone’s cap space and they just give you a lot of talent to take on something or you are able to leverage your future

Flexibility for a win now player that actually works out for you as opposed to I don’t know blows up in your face like Dennis Schroeder um and yeah like and I think maybe the fifth swing factor which is like just a Kumbaya of it all is just your your roster just overall maintains

Or gets better like you don’t have any massive drop off where like I don’t know yaka purle gets injured in the offseason and misses the whole season or you know Kelly oen falls off a cliff because he’s 32 33 years old like you just have like

Steady you know I think I think this team could be good I I’ll be very surprised if they’re bad next year very surprised well when you say what when you say good what do you mean do you mean 500 yeah I think like close 40 wins competing for a playing spot 500 um

Right yeah like I’m I’m not like who who is better than us next year I mean certain teams will be worse for sure um you know but yeah like as much as I could expect a team like Orlando to get a little bit better because of their

Youth and France’s development Etc and I could even see maybe somehow like uh a team like New York Chicago why why is Chicago getting better de yeah they beat they beat they beat I believe they beat uh the the Pacers tonight which is great for us they beat

The [ __ ] of the Pacers tonight they killed them dear is just doing our bidding like I appreciate this dude so much I think this is the second time he’s come through for our pick um yeah and I mean honestly like you got to do something productive with this pick even

If it means trading like I don’t have a problem if they get the third overall pick and they trade it I would have a really big problem if they trade it for like a 32y old but like I don’t have any problem if they trade it for like a 25y

Old in his prime you know no problem at all like a dejon Murray kind of deal no we don’t need any more guards see that’s the thing if jonte Porter this entire jonte Porter thing you know and I did a live this morning for anybody who wants to you know um

Watch that I think I think it present a different side to the jonte story for sure um yeah I don’t know like should I should I even talk about this game that just happened like I I feel bad because like I think a lot of people tune into

These postgame lives like it it was it was pretty abysmal to to to to keep it quite blunt and you know you got 145 to to 101 um you know this game was over in the second 80 in the first half dude like the score at the first half was exactly

8059 like that’s insane and when I knew this game was over it was 5539 um Jaylen Brunson makes a free throw and then you know it was like 60 to 41 I’m just like dude this game is so over and that was like Midway through

The third I think like they hit uh they hit close to 50 points with like a minute left sorry a minute into the second quarter they were at 50 points and I was just like Jesus the Raptors are really not guarding and and you know

It was a lot of shot making and a lot of like bad body language but like how do you allow a team to shoot nearly 60% from the field and 50% from three and you you get outrebounded like this is how you get thoroughly annihilated and

The Nick’s credit to them they take care of teams under 500 they’re they a well- coached team um they are 25 and two against teams under 500 so they are good team that takes care of business they they TCB as as Cosmo Kramer would say um Isaiah hartstein The One That Got Away

You know 15 and five 15 and four light work in 19 minutes like he got whatever the hell he wanted you know um you got Duce MC McBride 29 Points you know Dante Devan chenzo AKA Malachi’s evil twin you know or or better better half you know

16 points uh Jaylen Brunson an efficient as [ __ ] 11 for 19 and 29 minutes he did not need to play like when’s the last time you saw and and I mean precious sucha the Revenger precious sucha [ __ ] like even in garbage time he was killing

Us 19 and 12 and three and two and one and it’s just like my God like I guarantee you if he was playing for us tonight he would have had three points and four rebounds right yeah it’s a different yeah and I mean bonovich like 18 like bogdanovich had 18 points in 16

Minutes on seven for 11 shooting and it’s like this same guy was struggling to get Buckets in in in Detroit and that’s when you realize that’s when when you put guys in their spots right like when you put people where they belong in the offense things

Tend to be better you know and for the Raptors like I mean they get a really good performance from Grady dick who who’s the leading shot taker tonight which was a welcome sign they get a really solid performance from Garrett Temple they get bellbottom Scotty I

Don’t know if you saw that fit that was [ __ ] whoa that was interesting um did you see it something I saw it leather leather purple bell bottoms like wow his mom’s in attendance too so he’s doing that Jimmy Hendrick that Jimmy Hendrick style bro amazing um Kobe Simmons was horrible

Tonight I felt like he dominated the basketball I don’t think Jordan was great I think jayen McDaniel’s body language is like [ __ ] so checked out he leads the team no surprise uh apart from Gary Tren Jr in in plus minus uh with the bottom negative 27 in 16 minut

Netive plus minus yeah negative negative 26 there are no winners here okay everybody who played tonight was negative there’s not one lineup played five minutes eight and ochai ochai was like um you know he goes up for that dunk on the account I believe it was on the

Kelly oinc pass and he unfortunately uh gets undercut and I’m surprised it didn’t turn into one thinks the same about Jordan wara or Bruce brown or you know name name the guy okay here’s my question for you I like kellyo here’s my question for you I like kellyo we just talked about precious

Auua and Bo bu bogdanovich right and how much better they look now that now that they’re with the Knicks as opposed to their previous pit stops where they were effectively you know dumpster fire you know garbage men in their previous stops and so the question then becomes

Um I guess the question is do you have guys like that right now that are just being massively overleveraged like who is a jayen McDaniels on a good team I mean I I don’t I don’t to be good um you know but like like who is who is RJ

Barrett as a fourth option in this offense as opposed to a second option or third option who is yaka purle as a definitive fifth option is he closer to the player we saw with Fred B last year or is he closer to the player we saw

This year because I tell you last year he was much better than this uh who is oai abaji as a bench defensive role player who plays 10 minutes everyone is in the wrong space so here’s the thing people like fans are seeing one side of the evaluation which is they’re looking

At the box score they’re watching the games the organization has to evaluate these players differently because you cannot like it would be like hey Rob I want to see how competent you are at business okay great um I’m Gonna Make You CEO of Netflix tomorrow for a

Week no prep no planning you’re just going to be CEO of Netflix for a week let’s see if you sink or swim now on the basis of that I’m not going to be deemed stupid or smart or good at business or bad at business because I have no

Business being in that position anyway Kobe Simmons has no business playing 24 minutes in a basketball game Emanuel quickley has no business right now running an NBA offense um Kelly o and jonte Porter are not you know Nicole yic they cannot handle 25% usage so what

I’m saying is you cannot judge or no one can judge no one should judge any of these players based on how they are playing on the court rather you need to somehow it’s a bit of a catch22 as well it’s kind of a good because their numbers are not like being

Inflated like right you traded away all these players right and you got back all these players and a lot of the players that you got back are pending free agents and the good thing is that a lot of these players that are pending free agents now are having their Market

Ruined by being on a bad team and make it better their numbers aren’t exactly jumping off the page either Gary Tren Jr is not having a great year there’s a very good chance that his market right now is like eight 8 to 12 8 to 15 whereas I’m pretty sure

He expected it to be 20 um there’s a really good chance that like like okay like the the one casualty of this is a guy like Chris bue where like okay it would be great if he had some value or or Bruce Brown would be like great if he

Had some value because it a trade piece but also consider that Bruce Brown is also extension eligible now we’ve seen Bruce Brown in an offense that makes sense before twice and he’s great and we’ve also seen him in a fluxy weird offense like this one and he’s terrible

Um so I’m I’m just saying like if the have their own internal calculus about who is good and who is bad like if they if they can see okay Jordan War looks really terrible right now but we are putting him into positions which are designed to

Make him look terrible or Grady dick uh maybe doesn’t look like the greatest Defender right now but we see enough in these play groups and in practices and scrimmages to know exactly how we can effectively use them next year there needs to be a different basis of evaluation next

Year that’s what I’m saying I agree um I think the so you said a bunch in there um we’ll say we’ll say with the okay so touching on the Gary Trent valuation you said you see him as an eight to 12 million dollar player who

Who is his comp who’s a guy who’s like a proficient three-point shooter but for all intents and purposes does nothing else right can’t attack the rim can’t dribble a lot better attacking the rim he’s gotten a lot better at attacking the rim dude so in the last few games

Now that like he’s the only guy around and he’s just like driving to the to the rim with quote unquote Reckless abandon he’s he’s actually show he’s he’s got a little bit more but when when he’s on the court with actual good players and he’s not getting you know 38 minutes a

Game because who else is going to play the [ __ ] game you know he just he seizes up he’s terrible look at look dude he’s not so bad look at his shot chart this year okay so this is pain like do you understand this is actually pretty decent he has become

Decent I mean he’s still five percentage points lower than League average he’s a guard no no no no no no no no no no dude you you got to think you can’t just you can’t just off the cuff this you got to think about this he’s guard guards

Always finish worse than bigs at the r 56% is actually pretty damn good for a guard um if I showed you manual quickle numbers I’m almost positive they’d be worse so what I’m trying to say I mean that [ __ ] this is not too far off from how how certain much bigger Wings play

I’m telling you man like apart from this like this like he doesn’t have a lot of inefficient zones like this is maybe his one of his most inefficient zones as a corner but dude like I I have seen great development in him um so yeah I

I who would you say is his comp in terms of a contract Kelly UB but Kelly UB signed for a minimum last year so I mean maybe what Kelly UB will be worth next year um I don’t know like a less specialist That’s what I’m saying Kelly

Ubber signed for a minimum right these are minimum guys okay but In fairness Kelly a should not be a minimum guy and there’s no way in hell if he hits free agency this year that he will be a minimum guy but see the Kelly UB thing is a really interesting one because he

Put up like big numbers on a really bad team in Charlotte and everyone was just like I’m not buying it I don’t give a [ __ ] right and so his his offers dried up um I think at some point you do hit some French value where where people

Just see your limitations for what they are the last time he was up for a contract extension I believe it was 22 or 23 years old so there was still some theoretical upside in terms of like what you could do I think most Scouts and most general managers by the time you 25

26 they just say I see the path I see the line you’re not going to deviate from it too much we see the growth I mean the more data you have at this point no one is expecting him to become a starter in the NBA I hope nobody is

Expecting him to become a good starter in the NBA so really you’re going to be looking at his sample Off the Bench when the Raptors were competitive he was the worst right when the Raptors were good and he’s been the best when the Raptors have been bad now if you’re rival

General manager you might actually use that against him you might say hey like why didn’t why were you not able to contribute with the ball a little bit less in your hands um right so that’s why I’m saying like he has really played down his market value now knowing the Raptors this is

The team that’s gonna [ __ ] you know offer him like a $20 million contract for no [ __ ] reason whatsoever because they do that they do that sort of stupid thing once in a while um but yeah I’m not I’m not really sure I I think 15 million is like I mean

What 14 what was mid level last year 13 million 13 million is around mid level right that’s kind of where I place him right now I place him around mid- level but I think a good example is someone like Grayson Allen right Grayson Allen in my opinion is a little bit better

Than Gary Trent and he’s playing on a much better team and so it shows right so the question then will become what would Gary Trent do in Phoenix can I can I interject and maybe I don’t know this might be like you’re in class yes I didn’t want to I didn’t want to

Slow I think Grayson Allen is a lot better than Gary Trent like a lot better he has some guard like he has some real guard a lot a lot better I don’t think he’s a lot lot better but he is better for sure he is better uh SP saying

Malik good example Malik Beasley yeah by the way Grayson Allen was absolutely a for Fred Van last year Grayson Allen plus pi for Fred Van [ __ ] um dude I Tyler hero no Tyler hero Tyler hero is much better than Gary Shan Jr um yeah I just think like we need to

Look around the league at guard depth right like there’s there’s so many guys like d Robinson is better than him Carris Levert uh Duncan Robinson um cavius Caldwell Pope like this is the range that you’re competing with and I just named three guys that are probably better than Gary trance so I think

Raptor fans need to stop here’s a question for you which is like really I mean it’s it’s not necessarily relevant to me because I’m not a parent but were you okay when you became a parent right or when you became an adult did it ever surprise you how little you knew about

What the hell you were doing number one if if that is the case and number two did it make you ever think back to how little your parents or teachers might have known about what they were doing when they were rearing you as a child I think about it every day okay me

Too because on top of the fact that my mom was like 24 when she had me and and I was 40 when I had my kid that’s interesting so I I’m listening listening to Jack Armstrong um and Leo Ron and Randy um as I was just preparing my coffee for this

Live sometimes I I check in on on the on the chicken wing live you know it’s it’s it’s cool sometimes and I was listening to them and and they they got a random question about uh what do you do uh what would you know from from apparently like

Everyone’s turning into a little bit more pensar basketball because there’s a comment in the chat about hey I I just got out of a rough breakup what do you want me to do like what what any advice and I was just like wow like this is

This is what this is what a 41 42 Point 44 point loss does you know it starts making you real existential about you know [ __ ] and so Jack so Jack just spewed out a whole bunch of like these very cliche you know there’s plenty of

Fish in the sea there’s you know um and then somebody else said like um what did they say they said okay well if if if they don’t value you you you you got to get out you know and and find someone who values you more like if and all I’m

Thinking in my in my humble opinion as a 36y old was how unexplored these ideas are to be so cliche and it was just like hey like when I was a kid I really like I was 17 or 18 I really thought Jack Armstrong you know he looked like a hundred to me

Back then so he still looks really old now um I thought this guy’s like lived through life like you know you expect a guy who’s who’s been through so much and he’s clearly been through a lot lot like he’s been married he has kids he’s coached at Niagara he’s had a

Professional job how many people does he meet he meets athletes he he does ADS he does commercial you would think that a person like this probably has a great deal of depth about life you might think that Leo rton a guy who knew some of the greatest players that ever play coach

National team you would think that he has a great deal of depth about about life but here’s a question that I wish that they would have you know pondered in that in that moment and maybe they they do know this is what if you can’t do better what if the person left

Because you really suck you know um what what if there aren’t plenty of fish in the sea you know maybe maybe that’s just a [ __ ] cliche I think like so here’s the thing I think more often than that that’s actually the case nobody it’s just not glamor it’s not

Glamorous to say that exactly exactly and and you know it’s it’s bad advice it’s bad advice you know every time someone loses a job you’ll find something better it’s like maybe maybe but yo like you kind of sucked at that job right you know like maybe chill a little

Bit right what is this uh thing that we do with children is like you can do anything it’s just like except for color within the lines right like like we need to be a little bit realistic about certain things and it was just it was it was a little

Humbling to to know that we have a um natural appeal to Authority I think in in most cases like if you see a cop or you see a firefighter or you see a doctor you assume that they are what they are about basketball than Doug Smith people

Be like yeah but he works with the try to Star this natural appeal to Authority needs to stop there are a lot of people who run basketball teams that really don’t understand basketball very well I believe this to be case there are a lot of people who work for the government

That don’t really understand governments look at the Canadian government Justin Trudeau is an elected official I wouldn’t hire him as a mailman wow so I mean and that guy you know he’s had a life of politics politics teaching and you know wealth and and incredible incredible privilege

I do not find him inspiring I do not find him insightful I not find him bright or brilliant or anything he’s nothing I don’t I don’t get it so okay so get sorry getting back to the Doug Smith thing for a second do you think anyone under 60 actually takes this

Guy’s word as gospel like who who even when I hear that guy talk I I almost tune out there’s no like you can tell when people like you can tell when when you say something there’s actual like you’ve fact checked yourself to some degree you’ve you could tell

Just the way the the uh the uh confidence with which you talk about a specific subject matter that there’s depth there right same with same with um Samson I know he’s he’s maybe not your your best buddy right now but you can tell that there’s that there is there

There is some sort of knowledge there right go theology you can tell that when that guy talks he knows what the [ __ ] he’s talking about nobody nobody yeah nobody listens to nobody listens to Doug Smith well that’s the thing be reporters reporters I mean you you know like we’re old enough I think

We’re both old enough to remember when beat reporters were just people who reported on the news like they just said this is what happened that’s it this is what happened this this thing happened here this bridge fell here this person was here this person said this that’s

What a beat reporter was suddenly beat reporters are analysts and coaches and you know savants and critics and and they and they give it a they’re not they’re not capable of it they are not there are some who are there are some like Blake Murphy and Eric Karen where

Their working knowledge of basketball is going to come in handy even if their takes are not flawless you know whatever nobody’s nobody’s are you can tell they have like a fundamental understanding of the game whereas with Doug Smith there’s nothing um and he’s not alone and at some and at

Some point those guys are gonna take over for for uh they are and here’s the thing like I mean you know I’m I’m listening to people you know really really uh feel bad for Canadian media right like everything that’s happening in the media news etc etc as someone who’s generally on the

Out outside of that entire group and has always been on the outside of that group even when I was inside that group I was on the outside of that group I never really vibed and understood you know the way that they thought the way that they

And so there’s a part of me that’s just like any inefficiency over time is going to correct itself sure it’s not forever it’s not endless if you if you are no it’s it’s like having a cut that won’t close you know at some point you die you

Know what I mean like at some point it has to clot or you die like you can’t just endlessly lose blood so it’s you know it may not happen right away it’s like a pin prick in an elephant right it’s not going to happen right away but

At some point you you know you fall over so I I think of the Toronto media and and these P people I’ve had issues with It’s Not Just Sports it’s everything it’s like it’s it’s how they cover politics it’s how they cover art it’s how they it’s how they prioritize it’s

How they virtue signal it’s all of it I take a look at all of that and I’m just like I’ve had an issue with this for 25 years so I understand that most people are waking up to this now I don’t know um but that being said

You look at a guy like Messiah Jer or Bobby Webster and you assume these guys probably know what they’re doing better than the average person and it’s just like hey man last year this community said go this way and I can tell you 100% this community was right as [ __ ] talked

About exactly what this this team needed to do what they did not what they should not have done and I know that you know Broken Clock can be wrong you know but we’re talking about like six seven eight different moves right it was a it was a broader

Structure of direction of this team and yeah I think there needs to be a bit of humility and just say hey these are still trained professionals these are people that have opinions but I think there needs to be more of an open Embrace of the fact that yeah you can be

Right about things that have this sort of uh um especially with now like the the numbers being a lot more accessible games being more accessible like who’s to say these are just opinions I mean someone yeah I’ll it’s just like the pick thing I will bet that MSU Jeri outperforms the average fan

99.9% of times or 99.2% of times but when you start like honing that average fan population to a very specialized segment of fans like people who really understand the numbers I think the numbers might be closer to 90 or 82 or 75 it starts to Edge closer and closer

Um I don’t know but but that being said like this this offseason I I I fully believe that this this team is they’re trending in the right direction right I would I would go so far as to say that every single every single person who follows your

Channel let’s let’s not even say has more knowledge than Doug Smith I’ll just say this every single person that follows your channel watches more basketball than Doug Smith does I’ll just and and is therefore just through osmosis more informed than that guy is on the landscape of basketball you like he

Comes across as somebody who just does his job and that’s it like he he he does his job to the least like to to the least level of proficiency needed to get by doing that job right it’s so obvious you know what’s interesting that passionless type of in you know energy

Is everywhere it’s everywhere and I do not understand it uh he okay there was a question that he asked today I believe of Darko rakovich and it was very interesting because sometimes the questions that we ask are a portal into how we think so he said isn’t it disappointing that players who are

Playing for their jobs are showing this level of effort right number one it it it shows to me at least that this guy has a wck league level of understanding of basketball because if you can’t see how in inherently outmatched the Toronto Raptors are offensively and defensively

I know there was no chance of beating a team that was fully committed to beating you this way by like the best case scenario tonight was a 20o loss yeah smash I smashed the over on the the um on the spread like I smash it like like

As hard as I could and honestly had you know not I think sports betting is a very big topic right now and some people have told me don’t talk about sports betting because it’s almost like a promotion for sports betting but I do want to say this if the Cleveland

Cavaliers do not choke against the Hornets the amount of cheese I would have been able to buy today four digits mhm yeah oh yeah yeah stupid ass [ __ ] eban mobile but see this this in itself this is this in itself was was hilarious because it’s just like how much does a player

Underperforming in on a bet that you really need to land skew your perspective on that player I was just like dude right now if I was a Cavaliers fan I might be assigning EV Evan Moy to the G league right now just [ __ ] you I’m kidding obviously I’m kidding I I I’m

Very um I have a bird’s eye view of this like I fully understand like where it was and um yeah but [ __ ] like so this idea of like oh play harder and you’ll you’ll have better results it’s like yeah to some extent yes but this notion that players

Are just not playing hard and that’s why they’re losing by 20 to 30 points it’s like you have to be blind to not see the talent deficit that exists on this team and even more so when a guy like oai goes out because he is like he is just

Barely holding water defensively like he is one of your few neutral Defenders he’s not a positive Defender he’s not a negative he’s just neutral but you start replacing him with guys who are not positive Defenders guys were in the g- league like really what do you want them

To do it’s so stupid and like I I I actually didn’t realize it was him who asked that question but I’m not surprised um how how did he word it specifically did he say something to the effect of did you notice any did you notice any lack of effort is is that

What he said did you notice any lack of effort in the game today effectively yeah I think he said like is it disappointing to have so many guys who are sort of playing for their careers uh exhibit such a lack of effort and that’s are you stupid that’s like like if I

Really wanted uh like if if I had to play one-on-one against Kevin Durant and and and there was $10,000 on the line of course I would give effort and guess what he would [ __ ] destroy me and that’s just how it is right yeah I think there’s also the

Um the compounding of I mean In fairness the difference the gap between precious atua and Janus is not quite as large as the gap between you and Kevin Durant In fairness not not both in terms of size and skill however although man I’m being very generous to to Jay McDaniels when I

Say that just but just to keep it a book I got a sweet J my friend I got a sweet J okay um but I will say that um there is a human element to this too when you’re getting smacked by 20 um especially in a season in which you’ve

Been smacked by 20 a lot the human element kicks in you know and people who’ve played Sports understand how difficult it is to get motivated when your season is over um there there are objectives of course you know um last year there were all these bet on yourself objectives of guys trying to

You know Chase individual Glory or contract or a particular statline or whatever right I’m pretty sure if Jaylen McDaniels had just wisened up and bet on his [ __ ] player stats today like sorry if he had come out and just smash the over on 10 points for Jaylen McDaniels he would have been highly

Motivated to score 10 points but apart from that motivation what is the human motivation to do that I think human motivation is very much linked to dopamine dopamine is very much linked to the expectation of results and the expectation of results is that the rap at best case scenario put off getting

Their 50th loss of the season for one more game in which they will inevitably get it the playoffs are out of the line the plan is out of the line anyone expecting or anyone anyone okay here’s the thing as I said what people say often projects what they think and and

Who they are you know um when I listen to let’s just say I listen to a reporter you know trying to be very very intellectual with players I understand this is probably a person who is deeply insecure about their own intellectual status and is seeking validation for how

Smart they sound from NBA players who they deem to be the only people who can actually validate them we all have a certain need for validation some of us are healthily raised and so we can self- validate others seek it others uh there are some people who have a very low bar

For validation psychologically speaking so they can get validation from anybody on the street someone says oh you look nice some of us have a need some of us are at a Crossroads where you have a desperate need for valid but we also are pretentious and arrogant at which point

We believe only the rich and Powerful can validate our status because we see ourselves as being above other people and I think I’m I’m talking about someone that you know exactly who I’m talking about and and and that and that is obvious when you start to really

Examine like what people are saying and how they’re saying it and so when um where where was I going with this the the nature of the questioning of these players in terms of all this stuff that you know Doug Smith said or you know all the media is saying right now

It’s it’s bypassing a very critical part of the human element of being a basketball player you have to go out like most of us fail in private you don’t know how about like how about how about how many times I fail today you don’t cuz my life is not completely on

Display but my job is not on display I can fail privately and I have the luxury to fail privately and maybe only two to three people know about my professional failures but for for a player like Jay McDaniels you know to go out there and again like he’s he’s played horribly all

Year there’s a lot of reasons probably for that some of which could be mental health some of them could be seasonal seasonal you know depression I don’t know I don’t know what what what reason he has he he has been on the phone have you noticed this every photo of him

Literally all year that I have seen of him you know those fitted know where they capture like what they’re wearing he’s always on the phone they had a they had a 12 to 15 second clip of him basically walking he didn’t look up once why do people stay on their phone they’re

Numbing they’re numbing he’s he’s clearly in some sort of distress over something and it doesn’t really matter that he’s six but 10 and that you think he should play basketball better and maybe this is just something you’re not going to tap into there’s a lot of

Players like this there are a lot of players who are talented enough to put up you know 25 points and become allst stars and and they never crack it in the NBA you think Anthony Bennett didn’t have a big self- sabotage streak you ever see that guy play in high school he

Was so talented doesn’t didn’t make it there’s a human element to this and I think you know for for for Joe Schmo sitting on the couch saying like uh you know this guy if I had you know his opportunity shut up no you wouldn’t no you wouldn’t you would succumb to a lot

Of the same pressures you know there’s a lot of people you know who are calling jonte Porter stupid I really had an issue do you watch them do you listen to the mismatch uh yeah yeah did you happen to catch their last episode on jonte Porter no I did not so Kevin

Oconor had honestly the nerve to make fun of jonte effectively his entire tone was snarky and condescending like who the hell are you to do this you’re Jon [ __ ] Porter you should just be happy to be in the NBA and it made me so angry it really pissed me off like I I

Actually turned off the mismatch I’ve watched I’ve listened to the mismatch all year I find them to be really a good listen this was the first time where I was like no this arrogance needs to [ __ ] stop you talking down to one of the guys he ke jontay Porter is one of

The top 200 basketball players in the world you’re Kevin o’ Conor shut the [ __ ] up you know how dare you talk down about this guy and and to act like you know he’s some dumbass because he got doing this and it’s like who who the

Hell are you to do this and you should just be happy to be in the NBA this kind of nonsense talk it shows me just how bubbled and guarded and how unpreceded people’s perspectives really are um but yeah there there’s been an erir of condescension when discussing jontay

Porter like he’s a scrub compared to LeBron right but he would still beat an average basketball high school basketball player 101 to nothing like there’s so much work like I feel like there’s no appreciation for what he had to do to get to this point like the

Rehab the the you know the grind the all that stuff and for people to just be like oh he’s an idiot he whoa like I think we I don’t know I’m going all over the place no no I get it I I I definitely it it’s it’s kind of this

Like the same people who who like critic criticize the [ __ ] out of Tiger Woods for cheating on his wife and meanwhile you’re just like and have those opportunities that wife yeah you not say that you should cheat on your wife but like you have no idea what the sort of

Temptation that a guy like Tiger Woods like you are not in the same anywhere close to the same Stratosphere of what this guy has to deal with and it’s it’s kind of the same if you’re if you’re an NBA player even if you’re someone so

Close to the NBA that you cover them and have like a national following right you still are not even anywhere in the stratosphere of an actual n NBA player end of bench two-way guy doesn’t even matter right you are nothing you’re you’re you’re nothing close to that so

So yeah I agree listen if I was jonte I probably would have tread a little bit more lightly um I’m I’m gambling a verse at the best of times um I do it here here and there but in the in the safest

Way possible uh if I go to a if I go to a casino I usually give myself like a hundred bucks like if I go through that 100 bucks then that’s it I’m tapping out and if I go up to like 160 I’m like I’m cashing out you know that’s actually

Been my that’s been my sports betting strategy literally the entire time that’s also believe it or not my Casino strategy and I have been very successful based on the strategy because I do have a heart out right I have a heart out and

By the way um I so I I I shared this in today this morning’s live so I turned a 100 bucks into 2900 bucks um sports betting over the last 14 months and I always did yes so the the crazy thing about this is I always withraw once I

Get to 100 so if I have 160 I would draw 60 and I get myself back to 100 so that I never see the big amount so that I’m never tempted to like bet 160 on the sure thing and then lose it all what’s crazy is since this jonte Porter thing

I’ve been on the coldest streak of my life three straight days my $100 is now $29 I might finally run out of money oh no it’s okay it’s fine but but hey like I mean it worked out it worked out brilliantly for 13 months and and

That’s the crazy thing I I do have actual heart out like my only lottery ticket ever that I played got five numbers and we got $5,000 for it that’s the only lottery ticket I ever played come on I promise it was 200 it was 2009 my friend Max can definitely verify this

Um I was working at harleyquin books if anyone knows what Harlequin books is don’t Google it and um I was working security at harle Quin books and my friend Max comes in and he’s like hey we’re going three we’re going three dibs on this you know

$48 Million jackpot and I was like okay I’m like I don’t play lottery I watch my mom play scratchy lottery tickets I grew up in government housing I watch a lot of people like devote their welfare track to scratchies I’m like I’m not playing he’s just like come on it’s two

Bucks what the hell for 48 million I did the calculus man I’m like [ __ ] whatever you know I’ll do it and so I put in the two bucks and one of those three tickets won so we split it three ways so that was the only time I ever bought a

Lottery ticket and then the only time I ever went to a casino ended up profitable and then I went again and again and again and every single time I have this like $20 limit at a casino sure and I will not go over it no matter

What I don’t care if it’s like if I got to 500 and then I fell right back down to zero it’s if it’s if that if I hit zero it’s over like I never go over I never lose more than 20 bucks it’s like a stop loss and that’s you know I think

I thank God for my financial training on this um because in finance like one thing that I learned is don’t don’t chase your losses right people people like to people like to give like a white collar um treatment to stock trading or day trading and they give like the blue collar treatment

To gambling right right sure in a weird way they’re both a little bit like gambling whether you’re betting on Apple to outperformance Q3 you know out Outlook or whether you’re betting on you know kol linic I I understand there’s a difference to it and one is definitely

You know treated as better than the other or more civilized or whatever the [ __ ] you want to call it but they’re the same thing and they operate under the same psychology and I’ve seen a lot of people lose their minds trying to chase a loss because you know maybe they have

This really negative outcome and then they get very emotional and then you know what I mean uh one of the things I learned as a day trader was when you notice that it’s going bad walk away right you know what I mean like there there are many times where at 10:00 a.m.

I was like I’m done for the day this is just not going to be my day I can feel it and it’s just like that self- understanding awareness to know and then at some point having the humility to say even if I can’t check myself there has

To be a hard limit on how much money I’m willing to lose today and that’s it right I’m out um I know that things like gambling can become very Insidious and and ruin lives and everyone thinks that they have it under control and that they don’t so it’s very dangerous to say

There is a way to get it under control and I’m not even pretending to say that I’m just saying most people are designed to fail at gambling and betting and everything related to this stuff it it is I I definitely don’t like where where the like how how mainstream it’s

Become and like how overly um just like o how how overly visible it is like every single uh if you’re watching a if you’re listening to a podcast if you’re watching a game if you’re watching sports center every single um ad is for some kind of sports betting platform and I mean it’s

Just I don’t know man just given given that the the likelihood is so high that that the sports books are profiting and the people are losing out um they’re designed to be profitable yeah every the math is undefeated on this all it is is praying on society really it’s it’s

That’s that’s what it is like now does that mean that there aren’t like there is a you know people like haralabob volaras who does it for a living or did it for a living I don’t know what he does now but you know famously he he has

Like made his his entire his entire uh Financial existence off of sports betting um that’s what’s been advertised to us on on on podcast that’s exactly it but that’s like you have to look at that with a critical eye I I’ve been around a lot of people that swore that they were

Financial gurus or whatever but when I had a private conversation with them so like I mean here’s the thing here’s what’s really disrupted my entire theory of Life having private conversations with public people has shattered my understanding of people in general that could mean an actor that everyone adors

As one thing but then you actually meet them you have a conversation with them and they’re different they’re materially different or an athlete or a sports star or a general manager or you know a head coach who preaches one thing and then is a different way I I noticed this even

With my family where like I had you know prominent figureheads in my family that were you know matriarchs or Patriarchs of their respective you know uh group in within the family and you know they presented themselves socially as this very like I don’t know Forward Thinking

Progressive and then you get them in a closed door and then they say something that like really [ __ ] like jols you like you I can’t believe you thought that you would never say that in public so I I realize that people hold these very different people have very different private lives than public

Lives there aren’t a lot of people just go around saying everything that they think so I I am very dubious of people that present themselves as Messiah and gurus on sports betting or investing or whatever because I’ve seen their books some of them at least I’ve seen I’ve

Seen their I’ve seen their actual investment track records and it’s a it’s sales it’s sales right like if I introduce you to a guy let’s just say like you and I go to a game and I introduce my friend now you trust me and

So I say to my friend yo Vince this is a guy and you know he’s outperformed the sports books for five years now let’s just say that’s the first piece of information you got about this guy and I’m validating it and I’m saying it

Because he told me and I told you now if at some point he just nudges you over and be like take the under on the Celtics tomorrow you’re probably gonna place that bet with a lot of [ __ ] confidence you might even over leverage yourself on the basis that this guy’s

Right now if this guy goes and gives 50% advice to take the over and 50% advice to take the under half the world is going to think he [ __ ] up once but he’s still a guru the other half is going to think this guy actually is a guru right do you

See what I mean like it’s very easy Once the first the anchoring bias in human beings is very real once the first piece of information that you have about a person is they are exceptional at this and it comes from a credible source be at be that CNN be that you know the

Sporting news be that nba.com be that your parents be that your best friends whoever as long as you receive the information that they are incredible and really gifted at what they do you will give them quite a bit of slack and if at any point in the first three

Interactions they outperform the average you will assume oh [ __ ] that they know what they’re talking about you’ll assume that the two negative things were aberration sure sure um so I think that there’s a real human component to this and so I I don’t I don’t typically believe that but

You know there are people out there who’ve made their entire life Fortune with poker and whatever it’s a slippery slope and and my I’m the the reason why I’m so floored at the fact that it’s it’s uh it’s every second ad that you see nowadays is just because they like

Do they even do they need to be advertising like you know word of like we have computers now everybody’s on everybody’s on their phones 247 there’s um there’s social media like does there does it need to be like force-fed down everyone’s throats like it’s crazy like it it’s it it’s got

Of like at some point like was there legislation put on um on smoking like yeah you sorry you don’t see any advertising for dorier cigarettes anymore I I assume that’s because some law was passed saying you can’t put cigarettes on giant Billboards it’s the same [ __ ] thing right like instead

Here here’s here’s a question physically you heard of them finally you’ve SE you’ve seen the cigarette labels right yeah you’ve seen like what they say like they have the disgusting pictures and it’s very gross right yeah I don’t necessarily know how much those labels have done to deter people who already

Smoke from buying cigarettes I tell you right now they never deterred me my my mom what my mom is a smoker she doesn’t give a [ __ ] she doesn’t care that those things are there like well that’s exactly it and it’s like if if they were effective they would never allow them

Right that’s the that’s the power structure of this if it were successful it would never be allowed if you were really like some sort of like I don’t know if you had the magic pill of gambling like if you really like I accept that you know turning a 100 bucks

Into $22,900 is exceptional I’m going to consider it very small doses of beginner’s luck I don’t think that I have like the Magic Bullet I’ve been wrong a lot I just know how to Chase Chase wins and I I believe I have a little bit of an advantage over the

Average person that I’m very good at bath so that discipline but I’m not presenting myself as like some sort of person who can teach a system there’s no system to teach here I’ve been phenomenally lucky um but people who do come out there and they say I have a

System it’s like bro if you had the system you’d be in a dark cave right now you wouldn’t exist if you had a system that could beat the sports books and that’s not to say I’m taking this relegating myself to this very defe as position but like if cigarette ads

Worked they wouldn’t allow them they don’t work because the basis of why people you know consider this why are movies free why is like everything so free these days because of because of streaming yeah but like I mean consider like people you know I mean when I was when I

Was a kid you you went to the movie store you rented a movie you paid for cable you paid for you know to the cinema right but now everyone expects movies to be free why why are movies supposed to be free well I don’t know maybe because Netflix gave you like a

Thousand movies for $7 $8 and and basically killed your entire appreciation forever paying $15 for a movie maybe that um maybe that’s it that’s probably part of it but also like I think that this this curbing of appetites can can have this sort of disastrous effect on people’s expectations going forward and

Yeah like I think there’s this old quote that if what was it if the product is free you’re the product right sure and I really like the older get the more I appreciate and understand that statement you know Facebook is free why YouTube is free why X is free

Why things that are valuable typically cost money right betting apps are free you don’t have to pay to download them why they pay you to download them why because you’re the product yep you are the product and and you know if there is a vested interest in declining

Our attention spans to the point where I mean you know I I always try to like think of things from the power dynamics you know situation there’s this guy Andrew humman have you heard of him hman lab love him right yeah I love that dude like he’s everything he’s preaching I

Mean I’m not saying like I know that I’ve never met him I don’t know maybe he’s a complete dick in in in private life same with Joe Rogan I don’t know Joe Rogan it’s like I only know him from his takes on things like I don’t never

Met him whatever so maybe these guys are complete douchebags in real life I have no idea or Lex fredman another guy that I really like maybe he’s a douchebag in real life I doubt it but these people their entire advocation is anti-establishment for the most part they don’t they’re not

Supporting the big businesses necessarily and maybe that’s part of their persona but like does that not go into why people are always against them because when somebody’s telling you to turn off the phone and and hug your kids and embrace the sunlight nobody’s making money there right it’s true you know

What I mean yeah H I think I think guys like that that like all three of those guys that you just mentioned um I don’t know much about Rogan I’ve I’ve never I’ve never listen I haven’t listened to his podcast beyond a few Clips here and

There um but I I listen to Lex Friedman and I listen to a bunch that of Andrew humorman stuff and they just come across as being genuine and not not so hardcore in their stances and I think for the most part that’s that’s that’s where humans should live

You know in in the realm of like being like maybe having an opinion right being but being open to to somebody else’s opinion um as long as they they’re coming from from a place where they’re not you know benefiting from from whatever stance they’re taking like not reaping reward financially or anything

Anything like that um and and so I think I I think naturally that’s how how guys like that um gain their following right when when Lex Freeman is interviewing um Ben Shapiro right yeah I I I have no idea where where Lex Friedman’s uh uh political stances lie right but I I

Would be willing to wager they’re they don’t align too too much with Ben shap Heroes but when those guys talk it’s just two adults talking you know what I mean right Ben is definitely giving his his slanted yeah his slanted view on on his side of the political coin but but like

The guys like that are like I people people like that in general are are more of what the world needs in my in my opinion um the people who are willing to have conversations with both sides I agree I agree with you 100% um and that’s super and not and not being like

Um uh like even if you dis disagree with them just being open to it you know what I mean like it’s hey we’re two we’re two people we can disagree and still be and still get along and still be friends right I think that’s exactly it like when when the Curiosity outweighs the

Bias right sure like you know it’s hard not to get not to view Ben Shapiro or Donald Trump or even Mark Zuckerberg as a loaded idea because what they’ve done precedes them they’re so public and their and their and their impact is so massive right so but the Curiosity has

To outweigh it and I think with with Lex and with Andrew hberman and with Joe Rogan and a lot of people in this in this space that operate with their ethos their curiosity to learn about the other person is why people find them so fascinating and so important and so

Interesting and you know division sells division cells isolation cells it’s interesting like isolating a human being cells telling somebody to go to the park is not a sales pitch that is a that is an advocation for their own growth you know when I tell people um not to like for instance

Like I know that people like so here’s here’s the here’s the moral conundrum of it it’s not even a moral conundrum I think it it might be a moral conundrum for somebody I know for a fact that the More horrible someone feels about life in general um the more likely they are to stream content for hours on end like so the more likely they are to watch a a significant portion of what you’ve created now I stream my revenue is directly tied to people watching a lot

And I know that um still I will advocate for people to not numb themselves through YouTube content and I’m going be very firmly against it um I think I think there’s there’s kind of there’s a distinction to to be uh to be outlined though when when you’re trying to when

You’re assessing what uh mind-numbing content uh C procuration is versus non-m mind numing I think when somebody if you listen to a huberman podcast or you listen to like long long format uh uh video or content in general I think there’s it’s a little bit different than if you’re just

Scrolling what’s the what’s the kid one Tik Tok right it’s just like quick 5c videos you know one after another sorry I if you’re on Tik Tok my apologies I didn’t I didn’t mean to like talk down about it whatever I’m sure it’s it’s very good you you you you could talk

Down about them that’s okay I’m just kidding I’m kidding kidding a music artist I should be on Tik Tok and I am not on Tik Tok like I should be too but but you know what the thing is um I find the app is so freaking addictive that I

Refuse I mean it’s not like Instagram and Facebook in their mirroring or attempt to mimic Tik Tok have not also become deeply addictive but they’re not nearly as addictive as Tik Tok Tik to is the original like crack cocaine of social media apps and there’s a reason

Why they get so many people so you know here’s the thing um and honestly this is an application for anybody out there uh I don’t know if I told you this I quit smoking a few days ago which is probably why my coughing has been to a somewhat

Minimal I don’t know if you’ve noticed like if you’ve been listening to these lives progressively as the as the season wore on I was coughing more and more and more sometimes I had to clear my throat like 17 or 18 times in a single thing so

What was cool was thank you it’s been it’s been freaking fantastic today I only had one nicotine gum and wait two two nicotine gums and I had like minimal Cravings I had like three Cravings the entire day and one of them two of them were during the game so I was like man

Raptors are really buming me out here um you days H it’s been a few days it’s been four days going on five days going on five days tonight yeah and usually after quitting smoking I’m usually very very irritable and very angry and you know very Snappy and maybe even a little

Bit depressed and heavy because it really does hurt you emotionally inside um because you’re breaking an attachment and typically breaking attachments is hard but this time it’s been really great and there’s been a lot of new things that have come out of it um and

One of them was today it went to Home Depot to get a whole bunch of paint because I’m renovating and um I did not stay on my phone through the dull moments right on which is amazing um typically when I’m in line I just pick

Up my phone and I just start looking at it right or um if I’m on a bus or if I’m on a train I’ll just pull it out or if I’m waiting for something I’ll put it out uh or even if I’m at dinner with somebody and they go to the washroom my

Immediate impulse is just to pull out my phone and see what happened sometimes my first impulse when I wake up in the morning is to pull out my phone but today my first impulse when I when I woke up was to go outside and like look

At the Sun not directly look at the Sun and burn my retina but like just be out in the sun get some vitamin D and I just be careful H April be careful what what is April 8th April 8th is the the full um the full the First full solar eclipse oh

[ __ ] in many years I can’t remember in in in decades anyway okay um anyway it’s it’s GNA be a thing April 8th night I’m going to show up and my eyeballs are going to be missing and be like Andrew uberman damn it bastard should have

Looked at my phone um but yeah what what I noticed was a bit of a dopamine reset and not like a detox or whatever but like just an a diminished need for constant stimulation which is really what Tik Tok and Facebook and YouTube are giving you they’re giving you

Constant and what’s interesting is what does that do to your ability to meet normal people in a day-to-day BAS basis like when you meet somebody they’re not entertaining they’re not as entertaining as you know the thing on your phone which is why your brain naturally gravitates towards your phone

While even while they’re talking because they’re not as entertaining as people being highly entertaining in a 60c clip on Tik Tok and so it’s like when you meet a person when you meet like a random person it’s so hard to give them presence because they’re so boring

Relative to so this I tie it back to sports betting watching Sports in and of itself used to be so entertaining for most people like yes people would people would go Miles and Miles they would travel before the Advent of cars and and you know they would walk for like I remember very

Clearly traveling three and a half hours one time when I was a kid to go watch a game the New Jersey Nets play when we were living in when we were living in Pennsylvania at the time I remember very clearly doing this and being very excited the entire time

Being excited while we were there and being excited on the way home even though I think um I think that that’s lost but today you have league pass you have various betting sites so you have everything is on your fingertips which means games are no longer commodity people are talking about there’s too

Many of them etc etc and you have this betting thing and props thing and and fantasy element to it so if you’re a very highly addicted basketball fan you have a particular game is not even a game anymore for you it’s three different games so it’s it’s the basketball that you’re watching it’s

Also potentially basketball that you’re split watching with other games you know kind of on different screens but also it is a money wager um you know on a particular player so there’s a game within the game of like okay well it’s fine that my team

Won but I really need a Jordan award to hit two threes and get one Steel and you know you’re watching the entire game for like is he gonna get this deal uh I remember one time I put I put a player prop on OG anobi um 12 points I I bet

The over on 12.5 and he was sitting at 11 points for like an entire quarter and a half and I’m just like every time he touched the ball I was like [ __ ] shoot shoot shoot and then one time he does shoot and they call it travel I was

Like [ __ ] like I remembered that so clearly for the entire quarter and I’ve got like $50 riding on this guy to hit one [ __ ] point and it’s like how is it possible to not think about your own interest there and so that’s why I stopped doing the player props for the

Most part because it’s just like it’s so weird um yeah but think about it how do you go back now to just watching sports you can’t just like these people you know go ahead I I was gonna say I I I’m locked into that that exact same thing

Now mainly it’s done um for bragging rights with a group of friends more so than the money yeah we we put you know we we put a hundred bucks down we’ve we’ve been doing this pool since 1997 right so so it’s been before Sports was even

Legal yes no we had so you’re just betting among yourselves we we made [ __ ] boards and wrote names on it like this has been going on for a really long time is this for March Madness no no this was NBA we’ve been we’ve had an NBA pool since

1997 right where we drafted players and we like we do this auction draft and really all it is it’s it’s a means to to it’s a means by which that we know that we’re going to get together with these 14 guys every year at least once a year

Right and shoot the [ __ ] be in our friends backyard in in uh at the end of the summer you know beginning beginning of or Autumn or whatever nobody ever nobody ever left uh like we’ve had a couple people come and go here and there but for the

Most part we’ve we’ve kept we I mean we’ve kept it it started at what I think it started at 12 people and and it went to as many as 16 now it’s at 14 right and so you know it’s a means by we we’re all in a message group together

Um I I literally made the finals today right with um with uh amen Thompson played well for me and and um who else who wait who locked it in for me oh and Paul George his game on with the clippers because those those guys played

Well I made it to the finals and so we’re just like [ __ ] talking each other on on the messes board and if if I end up winning it’s like 500 bucks or something like that right $100 bet this is fantasy basketball right fantasy basketball yeah totally so I how does

How does fantasy work so like do you tally up like all the points and all the rebounds and all the assists is that how it works yeah there’s a there’s a website that does it there’s there a website that does it we draft our teams they all get put in input into the

Numbers um I’m I’m in a couple of them and and they’re all just because I’m you know buds with different people here and there and um and it’s and it’s a an other it’s an added fun way to to keep on top of the NBA which is my you know

Which is what I I’m just genuinely interested in in anyway right and so there’s a little added bonus I am definitely not putting prop bets from game to game I am not like laying down big-time bets you know these these Collective fantasy pools cost me $200 a

Year at the most right right and like League Pass itself costs a hundred bucks a year so like it was it if it was a it was a if it was a financial play it would make no sense whatsoever because you you know right but no I think I

Think that that you’ve hit on something really important there which is like if you’re doing it for fun like that’s when I that’s what I considered like sports betting like 13 months ago because my friend started telling me about like how he’s making money and he’s just like

Dude he’s like you know so much more than I do he’s like you could probably he’s like if there’s ever someone who has a 1% Advantage it’s you because I think that’s about as much of an advantage as you can ever think that you have 1 to 4% is fair the minute you

Start thinking you have a 12 to 18% Advantage you’re delusional you’re like kissing true delusion in the face so um but yeah you’re right it has helped me follow the league a little bit more it’s helped me follow Sports in general a little bit more um it had me watching my

First ever Super Bowl which is pretty interesting um it’s a good one watch yeah steel saying rob you would kill that fantasy I probably wouldn’t and I’ll tell you why because I have a strong bias towards players who don’t have big spot big box score stats but who have

Like real analytical impact and so it would be really hard for me to get my brain to divorce you know and be like I’m gonna pick Andre Drummond in the 10th round or something it’s just like [ __ ] Andre Drummond sucks you know but it’s like but the rebounds but the

Points but the field goal percentage it would be very hard for me that fake that fake three-year draft that you and I did together is um is a perfect perfect outline or perfect testimony as to what you’re saying right now the fake three you remember that

Thing do you remember that thing I do but I would love to revisit it at some point and just like get get get my own like what the [ __ ] was I thinking um no no no you know what you you you smashed me because the first four picks were you

Took W one obviously and then I Scotty 3 and you took Scotty 3 and I took scoot second and mold you got [ __ ] you got [ __ ] oh my God y before the record your your your big two would be not even dominating Europe right now let just tell you that right

Now for the I remember that very clearly yourself first overall pick so if I had I care if I gave myself first overall pick I gave you second overall pick and you picked scoot Henderson also In fairness we were both much higher at scoot than on scoot at that time but I I

Believe if I’m not mistaken I was shocked at my [ __ ] mind that you pick scoot Henderson right I scoot over Anthony Edwards and Scotty Barnes and Tyrese halberton and everyone was an was not was not available what it was um no it was it was three years 21 22 23 there

We go okay gotcha okay yeah yeah you’re right you’re right you’re right you’re right okay yo okay so so so so In fairness if you would had the number one overall pick you would have picked you you you would have picked um you would have picked

Wemi I would pick Wy for sure yes okay but if I had number two I would have picked Scotty Scot yeah you would have gone scoot yes based on your logic and I would have picked Evan Mobley at which point I still beat you see what I mean

Well sorry we went we did go 30 picks deep so I think I think as the draft went along I I had a strong because okay so you hate Cade right so I got K I got him 12 I think I got Paulo like you you could have gotten you could have

Gotten Kate at 38 okay just to give it to keep it a stack like you could have kept him like you could have you we could have gone real deep with Kate cunning but it’s like when you’re when you’re negotiating with somebody who doesn’t have like who has a clear bias

Like wean look I mean I’ve come a long way on Cade where I I can understand you know some of the load and creation but I will change my mind like I mean if you follow this as long as you have you know my my initial take on jayen Suggs was I

[ __ ] hate how he plays basketball and I think he’s really overrated but when he adjusted and he changed and I saw those numbers changing and I saw him changing I was a very big fan I advocated for a trading for him so I think for a lot of people again people

Who are very static minded and they’re like hey you got to you got to pick a side and you got to hate this guy forever it’s like no I won’t I won’t be I won’t be a clown and I won’t be a caricature for you to feel amusement or

For you to feel I’m consistent but I will always change my mind so if Kade ever ever shows that he can be a competent role player on a good team I will upgrade massively because I do think that he’s very skilled and I do think that he’s very talented um and I

Do think his physical profile is very interesting for a guard in the NBA I don’t think however he necessarily has like prototypical size for a wing like he’s not much bigger than Moses Moody and people don’t realize that right yeah he’s he’s he’s definitely in a weird role

Um the Domin he CH he’s chosen it every step he’s chosen it he chose to go to high school college and he’s chosen to play this way I mean are you thinking that like if he wanted to get off the ball a little bit more in Detroit that

They’re not going to let him he plays this way for a reason this is how he plays this how he thinks of himself as a basketball player experimented with him a little bit off ball especially when J um yeah but then I think they’ve done a

Little bit of it and I think there was a I think there was like a a rally cry at some point like get him off the ball get him off the ball you like he gives the [ __ ] ball away too much like they started seeing like well here’s the

Thing here’s what I really appreciate about a lot of the Raptors young players especially Scotty Grady and um Emanuel quickley and really all of them actually um RJ as well they’ve all agreed to do things that they are in inherently bad at right for the betterment of development and for the

Team Scotty agreed to be a point of attack Defender higher up in the defense um he agreed to be a center a power forward when he’s obviously more invested in being a guard because it was better for RJ and better for quickley Emanuel quickley you know probably more

Of a floater rang guy tried to be more of a paint finisher even though he got blocked a ton of times and looked really foolish doing it um of an offall Defender agreed to pick up more on the ball responsibilities RJ Barrett once once Scotty Barnes was out he became a

Deao like point of attack Defender for this team he took the hard assignments when the Raptors didn’t have anyone in the starting lineup who could take those hard assignments for him sure and kudos to him because he clearly he must know to some extent unless he’s completely

Delusional that’s a that’s a weakness of his so that’s what I’m saying it’s like you know I I see too many players who are afraid um to look bad and it doesn’t seem like the Raptor young players are afraid to look bad feels like they’re perfectly comfortable looking bad

Because they trust the longer term Vision that looking bad now will help them in the future and um without contracts to dangle like Nick nurse’s you know carrot on a stick is always like oh if you play well you get to you know get Max contract um and I’ll bury

All the players behind you so you know you’ll get all the minutes and you’ll have these big box score numbers and you big raw score numbers and look he he it paid off okay he said he’ do it for Fred he did it for Fred Fred got paid you

Know and he said he’ do it for Pascal and you know Pascal almost got paid and now he’s not going to get a super max clearly but he’s still going to get a Max um he’s still gonna have more money than he could ever dream sure sure you know um but that’s but

That’s my point there has been no dangling of carrots right now I don’t I don’t think Darko rakovich is going up to man quickly every single day being like do you really want that Max contract then play then play point you really want the max contract and do this

I think the entire conversation holistically from Darko from day one has been I’m going to make you the best basketball player you can be are you interested and if you’re not interested then get the [ __ ] out you know and I think that that has been a really good

Message and so many times I feel the message is only as effective as the messenger right um so if you’re not about it yourself like if if the team were hearing you preach about the you know the purity of the game and doing things for the sake of doing things but

Then notice that you yourself were all about the money and the promo and the attention and the marketing then that would read false right I think you know and if you were all about living through mistakes and you know I I believe this partially because of penance because

Penance is not the tronto Raptors and it’s not coaching an MBA team but you know to some extent I do see the transfer of how leadership can dictate the terms of Engagement and so something that I realize is if your head coach is open to making mistakes is open to

Accepting fault is willing to do things that he’s not necessarily good at so that he can get better if he commits himself to growth if that is his message and that is what he’s living every day it becomes harder and harder for the team to not buy into that same mentality

And that’s a gross mentality that that mentality help anybody that mentality helps you that help that helps me you know like imagine if you woke up tomorrow and you were just like I know everything about music there’s nothing anyone can teach me about music you’re [ __ ] you’re dead you will

Never be successful with that attitude right so I think the the mindset is very good and what I’m most curious about and to to Circle this conversation back to where we started about why this team will be good next year what I’m most curious about is what the next four and

A half months will look like you know not just in terms of roster turnover and draft picks but rather the actual work that they can do with these players in the summer because they’re all young enough and having that full training camp coming in with high Spirits hopefully with some health would

It surprise you if the Raptors start out next season 8 and five or 10 and six or you know even four 14 and six or something like that and it’s like now we’re talking about like a different season and and and guess what like okay you don’t have your draft picks you know

Provided you get your draft pick this year you won’t have that you’ll be in the same position right but you won’t be in the same position because you’ll be delivering a very late pick and then after that pick is off the books I mean you have multiple picks in

2026 right you have you once again have the repeat so you have no 2026 so you have the Pacers pick in 2026 oh right right right but if you deliver but if you deliver your pick next year you have multiple picks in 2026 and so if Scotty and and RJ and man

Quickle and Grady dick and whatever they show and plus whatever you draft this year if they show their ahead of schedule guess what now you have two picks in 2026 to potentially move up in the draft or move out of the draft or you could potentially even package I don’t know

Maybe you package an RJ Barrett plus two picks to get to get yourself that final piece or maybe you package yaka purle and two picks to get yourself the center of your future the Raptors have been in much worse positions before and I tell you right now if Pascal seak was on on

The team and as much as I believe he’s played pretty well for the Pacers he has been okay and OG and has played pretty well for you know he’s played really well for for the Knicks and Fred Van v has played really well for the Houston

Rockets so all three guys who went out the key guys they have played well even precious tuua has played well I don’t think anyone with a straight face can say these guys are horrible at the next stop oh my God Loa bull these guys are terrible but if their contracts were on

Our book our team would be worse I I agree with you wholeheartedly it’s just they’re they’re difficult decisions that needed to be made unfortunately Ely for the for Raptors fans they needed to be made a season earlier right but you know God bless God bless Messiah he wanted to give him

Another shot you know he he wanted to do that um and so we’re you know we’re we’re in the spot that we stand right right now um I don’t think it’s completely out of the realm of possibility that I don’t want to make the I don’t want to make the prediction I almost

Don’t want to put it out there but I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility that they’re they’re uh with with a few uh unlucky injuries next year that they’re bottom six again right if that happens then then you’re like then you’re then you’re really rebuilding and

And and quick because that because that’s going to be a load of draft right there are there are what they’re saying they’re saying there’s generational talent in in that class again who’s 2025 yes besides besides him who’s the who’s the big Center the sagales center okay I mean there’s there’s quite

A few guys I think in 2025 that might put push for 20 they would be first overall pick this year um I think Boozer might be the first overall pick this year if you were in this draft right uh come on Malak you seen this guy yeah he looks

Insane okay but like in fairness anytime there’s a 7 foot2 guy who’s 16 years old like he looks insane because he’s going up against guys who are five foot five right I mean I mean obviously to to qualify he looks he looks better than your average Center

Who just dominates because of size he he he looks like got he’s got this the wemi skill set um now it could be argued that so did B bow sure that’s that’s a thing but but this guy looks he looks pretty legit anyway regardless I feel like it would like as

Painful as it would be to to be terrible again next year and I don’t see it happening I think I think that if if they do have a relatively healthy season it’s just not going to happen I I think like you they’re going to be you know

Anywhere between 34 and 40 wins some maybe maybe sitting in in there um but if they do have some some bad luck like he uh Messi gave this press conf or at one specific press conference once he was asked he was asked a question to which he responded oh don’t worry I’m

Patient I’m gonna be patient and I’m gonna be very very patient like he just repeated I’m patient I’m going to be really patient several times and I was like is that for foreshadowing for like is this team going to suck for like a really long time or like what’s what’s

Going on I don’t think so first of all uh if Scotty doesn’t get hurt there’s a very good case to be made that you’re probably ninth right now okay sure um so you needed a lot of things to go very wrong this year for you to even be sixth

Right you needed everything to go wrong for you to be sixth like the only thing that could have been worse is Scotty misses the entire year with something um you needed a unprecedented amount of bad luck in close games you needed a crazy amount of um shooting variance uh mismanagement so like for

Instance Gary Trent Jr shooting well now versus shooting well before well if he was shooting well before and he was able to give your bench anything of substance when Scotty and OG and Pascal were playing well and if Pascal could have inverted his shooting splits from what

He’s doing now to back then there’s nothing really inherently stopping him from shooting well in Darko system that’s getting him shooting well Indiana my point is if these guys had clicked well there’s a really good chance they started 10 and five this year instead of

You know nine and 10 and if they had started 10 and five this year they wouldn’t have pulled the plug right you know and they probably would be fighting for the plane they’d be exactly where you know Chicago is right now and we wouldn’t be talking

About how bad they’re going to be again I think we have a bias when things are bad to assume they’re going to get worse before they get better and I think they can get better very quickly and very dramatically um and it has happened before where were we with the Oklahoma

City Thunder last year I mean people forget we were talking about the thunder as a playin team last year a playin hopeful right Chad is injured yes I promise you despite the fact that Shay was a very good player jayen Jaylen Williams was a completely unproven commodity Josh giddy was you know people

Were excited about it but he couldn’t shoot chat was going to miss the year the bearish sentiment on the Thunder was they would be competing for the first overall pick and then they end up in the playin but now Chad is coming back but chat’s a rookie what’s he gonna do and

You know what’s what’s case walls gonna do and people were like well let’s hope they can make it out of the first round and now they’re the first overall first seed my point is these these everyone acts like they’re right later but they they’re usually wrong and I think with

The rappers you know I see a lot of guys who could grow in interesting ways and maybe guys who especially when you consider how they’ve played this year by stressing offense instead of Defense all the turnover all the you know chemistry issues that come with playing different lineups like the Raptors have started

Like how many different starting lineups you know craziness they’ve deliberately not played players who were fully healthy I mean Emanuel quickley is capable to play right now 100% like even personal loss aside right um Chris bu was available when when you know guys who were worse than him were getting

Minutes ahead of him uto Porter was available when guys who were worse than him were getting minutes Jaylen McDaniel is never going to play again in the NBA after this season I don’t think for a team that’s at all hopeful he played Major rotation minutes for us Grady dick

Is not the same player anymore um I think Scotty Barnes will be better next year so I’m just I’m I’m failing to see how this team can be any worse than they were this year um and I think they’ll I think they’ll be really good um have you Harper play by by

Chance Ron Harper Jr’s younger brother oh no no so he’s also going to Ruckers he’s really good um NBA draft room Compares him to James Harden wow holy [ __ ] okay yeah he’s he’s currently he’s currently fourth in the 2025 mock draft I I what I’m saying like isn’t it isn’t

It actually in potentially in our better interest to this year’s because even if we get say the I don’t know 12th pick next year or 14th pick there’s a there’s a greater likelihood that that that player will be even better than the fifth pick this year or the fourth pick this year

Um I was of that mindset uh that if you do end up losing it it’s not the end of the world but I do have this feeling that next year you will be good enough that you will surrender like the 16th overall pick and I do believe that because of where

Darko’s system is and jama’s system is in terms of development that sooner is better when it comes to young players and the Raptors getting them into your system sooner as opposed to later will edge up better on Scotty’s timeline so for instance I mean prospects are not like jars of

Soap they’re there’re a molding process here right so for instance let’s say just to just to simplify this use numbers let’s say you get a 75 Prospect at the fourth overall pick this year that’s relatively low for a fourth overall pick being 75 maybe you think

There’s a 74 or a 73 level Prospect available at 14 next year right but by the time next year comes and that draft pick is made for you know the 73 player at 13th or 14th overall wherever you think we’ll pick the 75 overall guy that you picked at number four or number

Three will be an 80 overall because of how good this system has been and so the guy that you pick at 13 will always be behind the guy that you picked at Fourth let’s just say hypothetically you can pick both players I guarant in theory I don’t say guarantee I in theory the

Player you pick at four this year or three this year will be ahead of that player for at least the next three years right in terms of his onc court contributions unless of course there’s a variable of luck involved where I don’t know your fourth overall pick has a lot

To a lot in common with James wisman and your 13th overall pick has a lot in common with you know Paul George in which case I don’t think you can project for that I think you control what you can control I don’t think it’s the end

Of the world if they lose a pick this year because yes there’s a chance they could be bad next year but I just feel if Scotty and emanu quickley and RJ Barrett are healthy you’re not GNA be bad enough to get a top six pick next

Year and that’s where the talent is next year right but the talent in this year’s draft is actually scattered throughout the first round right okay I I’ve got to I’ve got to cap it but I’ll leave you with one thing since we were just talking about OKC as a basketball

Fan I really would have liked to see OKC trade for JA hurle yes I think okay I think I feel ripped off on behalf of Shay because I love that I love everything about that guy love the way he plays obviously fellow Canadian right and I really think that they they had

Like the window for for winning is shorter than you think sometimes right and OKC out of everybody should have should know this based on what happened with Harden uh Westbrook and Durant right so you have so many picks right even if you had to quote unquote lose

The the trade by trading two first round picks for yakob hurle and salary filler right you are giving yourself a shot this year at competing with Denver at competing with the Clippers right I don’t I don’t I don’t think yaka Perle puts you over Denver at all have you

Seen yako Perle try to guard nicoa yic it it doesn’t look fun for anybody okay name name one person who who who guards him well embiid yic yeah he’s cooked in bead before and he probably does the best job at it over everyone I don’t think anyone can really

Guard him because he’s so multifaceted uh name is OG an anobi you know who did guard him really well Scotty Barnes OG yeah sure Scotty Scotty guarded him really well um I think you need like a lot of quickness and a lot of length and you need to get

Under him a little bit um and make him really uncomfortable with with putting the ball on the floor a lot of a lot of people try to match his size but I think you have to match his balance on defense which is why I think OG and Scotty like

A bigger version of OG and Scotty might be like a really interesting matchup for him um but that being said I don’t think that pushes you over the edge and and now you’re just down to draft picks like look I I think Sam prey is a little too

Analytical for it’s funny to say he’s too analytical for my taste he’s a genius obviously he’s very very smart he’s very competent and he reads the numbers really well and at some point you know is it deflating if you’re the OKC Thunder if you yourselves believe

That hey we’re a center away from being competitive and you know your general manager and your president just basically says [ __ ] you guys we’re not going to do anything for you maybe that’s a little demoralizing seen differently it could also be a vote of confidence to say hey like we’re going

To believe that you guys are going to do what you’re going to do I think it’s just realistic truth be told um the OKC Thunder are long long long long long shots to win a championship this year uh they don’t have the playoff scars necessary in my opinion to do that so

Building some playoff scars and then tabling this you know yaka ptle like you know and there’s no reason to have to even trade for a yaka purle you have the assets to go out and get the best version of this player why do you have

To why do you have to take two draft picks to get an overpaid Center do you know what I mean like like I think we’ve established yako purle is not a top 20 Center in the NBA right now well I sorry I only use yaka purle because he was

Available but that’s that’s in theory he was available I mean I don’t know if the Raptors made him available but was there any substantiated I mean somebody if somebody was pting up two two first round draft picks with one in especially with one in 2025 then I’m sure I’m sure

They would have done that um but uh but regardless like you put Daniel Gafford like would he have helped maybe um the point is is that is that avilable for second round picks what’s that was he not what was Daniel Gafford traded for wasn’t he wasn’t he traded

For second round uh no I think he got I think they gave up a first for him Dallas gave up a first though but Dallas’s first is like it’s it’s not a great first um you know which player that I would really like to trade for but he might not Denny

Ofo I’m actually looking around at maybe maybe I should do a video on players that I would like the Raptors to trade for and exclusively look at Lottery teams that have like gems that are maybe too good for those teams or I want say too good for those teams but like

Are better than their reputation suggests but they’re like good players on bad teams as opposed to you know like the Kate Cunningham argument of like empty calories on a on a really bad team like these guys are maybe like they’re contributing something to winning but because the team around them is so bad

Nobody cares and nobody notices I think like someone like a Nar Thompson for instance right like someone like that or a Denny abdia or you know a Daniel Gafford would have would have been a good example like three months ago I think these are that would be an

Interesting video to just kind of go through that because bad teams are usually bad for a reason because they don’t know what the [ __ ] they’re doing but yeah anyways thanks a lot for calling in appreciate it long time no chat yeah always a pleasure sorry I’ve been uh

Yeah I’ve been uh sort of a bit of a hermit lately um just trying like what’s that you don’t have to apologize for that man come on oh yeah yeah just I I I love what you built and I love the the community that surrounds it

And so um any chance that I get to to pop in and say hello and just chat is always great um you know and and for for guilty or you know for for selfish reasons you know I just enjoy I just enjoy being being a part of the

Conversation so um so yeah I get I start to miss it after a while and uh and yeah so hopefully it’s not too long until the next one and uh go go wraps go go tank I don’t know how you would how you sign

Off on this one uh go tank go go tank would be the way to go go go for 20 straight losses and as I already flashed onto the screen there’s still a chance you could win you could lose every single game of the season and still lose

Your pick so the math on this is pretty depressing um really going to come back and haunt us that three you know the three wins we we did for that pizza party that’s right those those are the PS that are gon those are the picks that

Are gonna cost you this draft pick is it gonna cost us Nia topic no Nia what’s his first name topic topich Nico topich yeah oh it is Nico okay yeah yeah but anyway yeah there’s gonna be there’s gonna be like there’s like an influx of

Nicas in the NBA ni topish ni yic Nico yic Nico topish Nico yic three there’s more coming there’s more coming it’s like we just want we want to we want to see of we want to see of players um in the NBA all from Serbia anyways I hope I

Hope to see him on the Raptors at some point that that would be awesome he’s cool he’s he’s a really interesting player he’s got a lot of verb someone said someone messaged in the comments they said he he moves like shenon I was like what six

Foot just like oh okay like I guess they both have sort of slow you know like interesting like lower like they’re both of them have a lower Center of balance which is actually a really interesting thing as a basketball got a little bit of a butt butt sticking out thing is

That is that what he’s getting at I I think it’s because his legs are a little bit shorter and his torso is a little bit longer um but those players if you’ve ever played basketball like the more atypical a person’s body structure is relative to the normal player that

You play the more difficult they are usually to guard because the more deviate from the typical player you used to guarding so if a guy has like really really high hips like when he posts you up his asses are [ __ ] you know in your chest you know what I mean when

He’s posting you up it’s just very weird to try to guard that player usually for right but like yeah exactly and if somebody is like really low Center gravity like maybe that that could be very very good for their shiftiness and in terms of like predicting their movements is very difficult and that’s

Why he’s so good at getting to the rim but then also look at somebody like defensively like somebody with really long arms whenever I play guys with really long arms I have to adjust my shot because I’m not very tall so I’m like you know you have to shoot over

Them in a way and like if you don’t plan it you get very embarrassed you know so I don’t know I I just think like people who have like weird Dimensions can be very good for basketball anyways thanks a lot for calling in good luck with the

Album good luck with the new album and everything and I’ll we’ll see each other soon for sure take care see you man bye buddy all right all right all right um little bit of a uh let’s call it a hold on where the hell are we here um selfish

Plug if you will um Canada film Day is coming up on April 17th and it is a very cool celebration of Canadian film and Canadian artists and uh Penance Film Festival is hosting a really really cool screening of two films specifically uh film called I killed my

Mother and that’s this film right here it was the debut feature of zavier Doan it’s it’s an incredible feature uh it’s happening at scoa bank theater not scoa Bank Arena scoa Bank theater downtown Richmond Street West uh tickets are free if you go to uh filmfreeway.com I’m

Going to write it I’m G to write it here hold on one second film freeway I’ll add this in the link after uh.com Penance sh over here SL pendan SL tickets I’m going to put that link there if you want free tickets to this and if

Opportunity for you to I don’t know integrate some really cool culture in your life so there is the link filmfreeway.com pendan ticks it’s free tickets to go check out um you know two films deline uh which is a story about a Lebanese girl who gets bullied on a bus and her

White um friend and her response to it uh the film premiered at the Venice film festival and is widely regarded as one of the greatest Canadian shorts of all time and jum M which is uh I killed my mother which was the uh debut feature of

Zavier Dolan he wrote the film when he was 177 years old he acted in it it’s 7 autobiographical and it is a coming of a story these are incredible films um again if you have a copile in your life make sure to let them know about Canada

The film day all the films are free and yeah and if you ever wanted to uh check out these films in a theater um definitely come check them out all right take care and um if you’re right Penance tickets for everyone on me are you saying this

Because you know that the tickets right now are free handing out tickets buddy like like Willy walk that’s kind of funny for real okay um yeah just just a heads up if if someone ends up getting if if someone ends up claiming more than six um free

Tickets I will fully put a full stop to to the tickets um for that person like no one is allowed to get more than uh two or four so yeah uh okay I’ll talk to you guys later if you like art house Cinema again April 17th and uh I’ll catch you guys

After the next game whenever the hell that is uh when is the Raptor’s next game hold on let’s just check the schedule again Raptor schedule schedule the next game Sunday oh wow that’s amazing oh that’s great there’s three days off ah thank God Okay wait oh no wait what okay there we go Sunday March 31st Nick nurse and the Philadelphia 76ers I believe are coming back to town um then we have the Lakers LeBron James LeBron James is back just came back tonight I believe uh so that’s April 2nd then we have backtack so oh

[ __ ] it does not get easier so in so you have three games in five nights against the Lakers Timberwolves and bucks and then the true test of the season will come down to the five games the Wizards Pacers Nets Heat and heat there’s a very good chance that the heat

Will be resting Jimmy Butler and if you watch the heat without Jimmy Butler and um they’re not a very good team right now um to be honest like they’re much better than the Raptors but is going to be hard to go over in all these I think

You can lose against the Sixers I think you can the Sixers have been relatively competitive they played really competitive basketball down the stretch against the Clippers tonight um so I think they can beat you I think tyres Maxi alone is like so much better than anyone who’s playing for us right now um

I think the Lakers is a nice easy loss I think the timber rolls are a nice easy loss I think the Bucks are an easy loss um even though holy [ __ ] Damen Lillard’s defense against the Lakers last night was embarrassing bad um but yeah after that it gets dicey the Wizards were

Surprisingly competitive they they were winners of three straight which is like whoa what is this what is that team doing um but yeah we we could we we could we could me we could mess up you know we we we could end up winning one game here and it could be everything um

But did did Memphis what’s memphis’s schedule like I I gotta see I gota I gota see the grizzly schedule right now to see if they have any of these shitty teams oh sh yes oh yes they have such a easy schedule coming up okay good job that’s great

Okay this is good okay sorry I saw Detroit twice I got really happy so the Grizzlies have Orlando Detroit Milwaukee Detroit Philly San Antonio Cleveland Los Angeles Denver [ __ ] okay so they have a pretty tough schedule apart from those two Detroits and that won San Antonio and In fairness San Antonio won tonight

Uh San Antonio has been winning more games lately um which is interesting but nevertheless it is very likely very likely that Detroit probably wins one of those games and they win one more of these games so I would project the Grizzlies to finish with two more wins on the season which

Means the Raptors just have to make sure that they don’t win three more games this season actually yeah so just keep it under two yeah I think I think you’ll be fine and if those two come against a random team probably Washington I don’t know maybe it’s Washington and Miami

Like maybe those are the two wins um how do you feel about seon castle I still don’t know enough about him to be honest I still haven’t watched enough tape on him so I still don’t have a an educated opinion on him I said I would start most of my draft coverage at

The end of March after March Madness um March April and I plan to stick to that I mean we’re closing up on the end of March right now I understand that but there’s three three more days in March um but yes give me give me three more

Days to renovate and fix everything up and and do all the Deep Dives and stuff like that we’ll do a video on you know which guards they should Target which Wings they should Target which bigs they should Target Etc we’ll go through Prospect by Prospect look at their

Analytics Etc like we did last year and I think we can also do a you know uh diamond in the rough type of you know guards when centers that could be available this offseason and just do like a an entire offseason guide so that this community is better prepared than most communities

To just deal with a very potentially turbulent potentially you know High uh volume transa transactions honestly I don’t even think this is going to be super high volume transactions I think a lot of the volume transactions that they were going to do they’ve already done reigning Kelly Lin trading for oai you

Know I mean I think the team did the for a reason I think they wanted to use whatever was remaining of this season as a sort of ramp up training camp so they could have a clearer perspective on what they wanted to do in the summer and you

Know I think summer is going to be really important for this team I think it’ll be really important for Emanuel quickley and Scotty barns to have like runs together and get healthy I think it’ll be really great for Scotty to get with the team Team USA select team and

Have some experience with the national team on that level be great for him um but also like individual work and you know again I I don’t see this team being bad for very long I’m going to stay I’m going to stay with that take until I see

Otherwise I think it’s going to be good yeah nice one saying free Porter I am really really hoping for a good result for jonte Porter but I I I am cautiously um pessimistic and I don’t think it’s going to be a good result for him but I hope he lands on his

Feet um God heal Barnes and heal RJ’s mind I don’t think anything’s wrong with RJ’s mind but yeah sure all right make sure to hit like subscribe all that good stuff you later bye

Miles McBride scored 29 points, Jalen Brunson had 26 and the Knicks never trailed in a 145-101 win over the slumping Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night, New York’s biggest margin of victory this season.

Precious Achiuwa had 19 points and 13 rebounds against his former team as the Knicks won for the seventh time in eight games, set a season-high for points and swept the four-game season series with Toronto.

Knicks center Mitchell Robinson played for the first time since suffering a left ankle injury in December that sidelined him for 50 games. The 7-footer had not played since he was injured in a Dec. 8 loss at Boston, later undergoing surgery.

Robinson came off the bench and scored eight points.

Gradey Dick scored a career-high 23 points for Toronto and Gary Trent Jr. had 18 but the short-handed Raptors lost their 12th in a row and fell to 1-13 against Atlantic Division opponents.

The 44-point margin was Toronto’s biggest home defeat in franchise history, eclipsing a 41-point loss to New Orleans on March 5.

McBride, who scored 18 in the first quarter, matched a Knicks record by making six 3-pointers in the period.

Brunson scored 11 points in the second as the Knicks took an 80-59 halftime lead. The 80 points was the most the team has scored in a half this season.

Former Raptor OG Anunoby was not available in his return to Toronto because of the right elbow injury that has kept him out of 22 of the past 25 games.

Knicks guard Alec Burks sat for the second straight game because of a sprained right shoulder.

Toronto guard Ochai Agbaji landed heavily on his right hip as he and McBride went up for a lob pass toward New York’s basket midway through the first. Agbaji was helped to the locker room, unable to put weight on his right leg. He did not return and the Raptors said he suffered a right hip contusion.

Toronto was already without starters and former Knicks RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley, who are still in return-to-competition reconditioning, as well as injured starters Scottie Barnes (left hand) and Jakob Poeltl (left pinkie).

Raptors center Jontay Porter, who is being investigated by the NBA for alleged gambling, missed his third straight game.

  1. One of the biggest problems with Doug Smith is his ego. For decades Bob Mcgowen was considered the number 1 sports analyst/host/whatever you call it, in Canada. Even I believed growing up that there was nobody who knew as much as him, and was as respected as him. Doug Smith was one of, if not his number 1 ‘goto’ guy/ source and he still hasn’t realized how far away from that time period we are . He hasn’t realized how much the landscape of basketball media has changed/grew. He speaks as if we still live in an era where he can say whatever he wants and nobody will question it because for YEARS they absolutely dominated the sports talk ratings in Canada .

He speaks with such confidence without realizing nobody depends on a single source for information like they used to even a decade ago.

Basketball has grown so much in this country and I still think he believes most raptors fans only have a surface level understanding of what’s happening.

Don’t get me wrong, the dramatic ‘Steven a smith’ type of media in America can be insufferable but at least (even if it’s contrived) they’re encouraged to play devils advocate or question each others takes. There is not a single member of the media (outside you) who actively pushes back or challenges anything these guys say.

Until Sportsnet/tsn adopt the ‘debate’ formula that American networks use, these morons will just continue to say whatever they want with no repercussions.
