Ime Udoka after Rockets stun Thunder, won 10th straight

After they really started trapping Jay how do you feel about his decision making Play Making with the rest of say the first two or three times took a second um for him to recognize and get off it and then the guys were rolling too far taking themselves out of the

Play and so um you know I think it was one turn over too many after he kind of noticed what what they were doing but um you know trust him he’s he’s really adjusted and done a good job against against traps and blitzes lately and trusting his guys and you know finding

The pocket and getting the number so um you know something that’s going to be constantly he has to work on for a young guy but you know sometimes he beats it or sometimes simple as making the right play and having four on three behind it

You said with trust is pass to Javari in the corner in that situation yeah it was huge we just showed the team that that was our basically our favorite play of the game um you know we know that they’re a team that loads up the paint uh see home gr’s

In there but without him they were really going to come over and try to take charges like on the last play of Regulation so uh we just showed at four guys in the paint he made the right pass and to to your point guy who was struggling all night Dylan made two big

Ones after going one for nine and then Jabari who was struggling with the fouls early didn’t hesitate and Jaylen didn’t hesitate pass to him so great pass great growth um proud of them for that play what did you think your team’s resilien specifically in overtime yeah it was good I mean it was

A high scoring overtime so we didn’t Can rely on defense when we need to and offense will get going eventually so that’s what we kind of did tonight in the fourth and overtime that sort of reaction the postgame reaction to see how much it means to the guys coming down the tunnel yeah I mean you know I didn’t

Have the pain of the last three years of all the losing and so you know obviously it means a lot to a lot to them obviously myself as well 10 10 in a row is 10 in a row regardless if Shay is out or whatever the case may be but

Um you know that’s hard to do in the NBA and so guys are proud of that effort and um well deserved and so like I said the last three years of you know 17 19 22 wins that’s that’s the reaction you’re going to get when you put 10 together in a

Row points I don’t want to say he had quiet performance 25 is 25 but what did you see from him um really find his niche in that dunker spot um attacking when they needed to find him making the right plays 15 rebounds you know six offensive he kept kept it alive

Especially when they went to Zone um quite a bit so you know stat sheets stuffer I mean four assists and you know he had five fouls I told him he should have had six and that that’s the biggest one of the biggest plays but um yeah 25

15 and four will’ll take it coach was was the neutralizing Chad tonight he had more fouls than points was largely intive yeah I mean going small uh takes away a lot of his lobs that he gets on typical FIV men or the pick and Pops that he gets sometimes so um being able

To switch we put Dylan on him to start and kind of took away some of the things he does well which is getting behind the you know defense on the rolls and and take away the pops and so just crowded him on the perimeter with our smaller

Guys and kept them off the glass and then attacked them on the other end you know elite shot blocker you have to just go into the body at times and that was a big part of it obviously getting them in foul trouble yeah it was the same game plan

Regardless um we wanted to be more aggressive than we had been in the three games um you know we have a smaller lineup where we can switch and try to uh be a little more physical on them on them um had to adjust to the refs

Calling in I mean it was at I think 17 14 to seven a half time fouls and 15 to2 free throws so um we didn’t love that part but you have to adjust to it and we’re going to keep playing aggressive and kind of let chips fall where they

May but I think that was the biggest key was trying to make them uncomfortable I think looking at last game um Jaylen Williams um SGA those guys were a little too comfortable or pickup points were too low we wanted to climb up in them a little bit more and give him a little

More probably the most important thing um you know you’d obviously like to be solidified in a spot or something like that but um that’s where you see that reaction out there U at this time or even in January February the season had kind of been over in the past and so to

Still be playing for something and winning 10 in a row and um you know playing against high quality teams yeah that’s that’s the reaction you’re going to get and I think it’s invaluable for our young guys to go through this and obviously making the playoffs and the

Playin would be another step but um just going through what they are now and coming on the other side of 500 this late in the season is huge for them thank yeah some you gotta play them

  1. Ime Udoka has done a phenomal job with these young rockets. Arguably the coach of the year if Houston makes the play-in tournament.

  2. Best off season signing in a while. So much talent on this team wouldn’t have been possible without Ime. Love the grit that he’s instilled in this team. FVV and Dillon were methodical signings. Rockets wanted to change the culture and they’ve done it. Good job Rockets, first time I’ve genuinely liked this team since our Scola/Battier days

  3. This is a different team. Jalen Green plays like a superstar with a killer instinct like Mike. He put the team on his back.
