Portland Trail Blazers NBA Draft Targets in the Sweet 16 + Dalano Banton Stays Hot vs Atlanta

In today’s show Delano banson does it again dude gets buckets in a Blazer’s lost to the Hawks plus we talk best NBA draft prospects in the sweet 16 welcome to locked on Blazers let’s get into it you are locked on Trailblazers your daily Portland Trailblazers podcast part

Of the locked on podcast Network your team every day what up world is your past first point guard and Trailblazers reporter Mike Richmond you are listening to another episode of Locked on Blazers part of the locked on podcast Network failable wherever you get Podcast and also on YouTube free and available on

Every platform coming at you Monday through Friday each and every weekday so make it a part of your daily routine tell your friends to do the same make it your first listen it’s lockdown Blazers your team every day in today’s show we’ll talk a little bit about the

Blazers lost to the hawk Solan Banton keeps on doing it another big game off the bench for him he’s carving out a you have to you have to figure out a way for him to be involved in the roster next year type of role for himself he’s he

Looks like a keeper we’ll talk about or at least uh should keep uh in in we’ll talk about him in the first segment uh then I want to talk NBA draft stuff uh as as promised I want to talk about the sweet 16 you’re listening to um best

Prospects to watch in the sweet 16 that is you’re listening to uh Thursday March 28th show and uh we’re getting to the the fun this is this is a really fun weekend of the NCA tournament SW swed 16 and the lead the elite eight you’re getting the best teams um not always

Best draft prospects but you’re getting the best the best teams playing playing the most meaningful games before you get to the get to the final four and uh and uh this is this is a good run because you still get four games on Thursday and four games on Friday we’ll talk about

Those Thursday and Friday games who I’m going to keep an eye on who you should keep an eye on plus I want to talk about Donovan kingan and I want to talk about Zack e because um they are similar players that are I think are viewed

Differently and I want to talk about the The View of two behemoths in college basketball and kind of the the the dangers of group think but first let’s let’s talk about Delano banson let’s do what we do first of all fastest recap in the west Blazers lose 12 106 they

Actually LED 2926 after one but uh Trail by seven at halftime and pretty fun first half 10 lead changes uh Tano B had 15 in the first half like it was like this it was it was a it was a fun game uh still for the Blazers no DeAndre in

This one no matis thel no Jeremy Grant obviously no no um Malcolm Brogden at all um we do have a non- update update on Shaden sharp Shaden this is this is the Blazers release this following update uh as we take a break from Blazers down 7 a half time in the

Pastest recap in the west uh Shaden sharp has been recalled by the Portland Trailblazers they don’t say what he’s been recalled from in this tweet but Shaden sharp has recalled from the Portland Trailblazers sharp participated in non-c contct conditioning drills with the remix again what’s the remix he will

Be evaluated over the next week as he joins the team on the current road trip let me translate this Shaden sharp had been sent to practice with the uh Blazers G League team the Rip City remix he’s back now after after participating in non-con conditioning drills with the

Remix I think that’s important he didn’t go through a real practice he he ran around with him non-c contac conditioning drills he will be re-evaluated over the next week as he joins the team on the current road trip so he’s going to fly out to um uh he’s

Gonna he’s gonna meet them in in Florida as they play um Miami and then Orlando and then they head up up the coast Charlotte Washington Boston on their way home um I don’t think that means he’s G to like that doesn’t sound he’s going to come back

Um I’m I don’t imagine the Blazers are going to have like a full five on five practice with the way their roster is right now but maybe they want him if he’s going to do contact to be around their their doctors their people their their coaching staff etc etc as opposed

To like the extension of them which is the g- league but I think that’s a non- update update on on on Shaden sharp uh he didn’t but what we know is that he went through non-con drills with the remix okay back to your regularly scheduled Rec fastest recap already in

Progress Blazers down seven playing that all rookie lineup yet again uh with starting lineup of scoot Ryan ruper do upath to Kamara and Chris Murray those guys come out for the third quarter and the it just it the game kind of ends like this the the uh the Blazers down

Seven and a half time Ryan ruper gets a bucket to to begin in uh the second half they cut it to a five-point lead and then the Hawks score the next 13 points and that’s your ball game all of a sudden the Blazers are down 16 they

Never get they never uh get it back within single digits after uh after that run that’s basically the first three minutes of the second half the game ends and they go on to lose they’re down 14 at end of three and and go go on to lose

1216 that’s your fastest recap in the west not a lot of great ones in this one I I thought Chris Murray really struggled on off defense um tonar had a great first quarter hit his first five shots had a great first quarter finished with 17 uh du PR had 13 seven for Ryan

Ruper to go along with six boards and five assists and he played 39 minutes let’s go Ryan uh 15 for scoot back in his hometown I didn’t I do not think this was a good scoot game by any means six six turnovers I just just not a good scoot game six of

16 from the floor the thing you need to know and and like I guess the thing you need to know is that your boy Gary bird hit five threes Off the Bench for the Hawks that’s Garrison Matthews uh and 30 for Deonte Murray but but Delano banson is

The story in this game he’s been the story of the last two games uh you know he comes off the bench against Houston he has 28 points 11 rebounds five assists he against the Hawks 31 points five boards nine assists um you know he’s the three-point shooting is five of

11 from three in this game I I don’t know if I’ve been like waiting for it to come back to earth because I’m not like I’m not like sitting here anticipating it but I would have anti I would have guessed um that he would have had some

You know some 0 of nine three-point shooting nights just because he hasn’t been a good three-point shooter in in any any point in his professional career and it’s like and it wasn’t a good three-point shooter in college and it’s like yeah at some point he’s just going

To he he he’s going to come back that he’ll he’ll regress a little bit he just shooting the ball really well I don’t think I’m I think I’m going to hold off on my regression watch just shooting the ball really well five of 11 from three

Uh 8 of 12 inside the arc his shot chart is a real nerds dream he only took one mid-range jumper and it came at the very end of the game in the fourth quarter otherwise he’s taken three-pointers and layups not even like shots in the paint

Layups shots right at The Rim scored on a couple inbounds plays um the three-pointers he made for the most part are catch and of the catch and shoot variety and the three-pointers he missed he had a couple late could push had to push up like end of a quarter and then

End of a a end of a shot clock like kind of ugly threes but then the ones he missed were some pull-up threes and and then when he took one catch and shoot three when he was like I’m hot baby and he just like took it quick early in the

Shot clock but um why I mention the catch and shoot stuff is because what I’m really curious about Delano banson and this is like has been my consistent take with him and I’m going to keep it keep keep saying this because I think this is an important my sort of big

Takeaway from watching him what does he do when he doesn’t get 23 field goal attempts I’m thinking at the free throw line tonight he’s been typically good at getting the free throw line but like he’s not going to shoot 23 times in in in like the future of the blade lasers

He’s not going to play 37 minutes and shoot 23 times he’s going to have a smaller role um you know there’s a chance that he’s like the third guard on the team next year I don’t think he will be but there’s there’s a chance that he is then he won’t have like a

Dramatically smaller role but he’ll have a little bit smaller role and when everyone’s healthy you know Jeremy Grant’s going to soak up some possessions if he’s on the team deandre’s going to soak up some possessions like in a fully healthy roster you just don’t you don’t need nor

Want Delano banson to to take 23 shots so it’s like one of the things I’ve been thinking of is like what does he look like in a smaller role and that’s why like making the catch and shoot threes matters to me as like a as like a thing

To Star because that’s a that’s a smaller role right it’s not dribbling into three-pointers it’s not having cart blanch to attack and transition and all those things it’s like that’s what he’s going to do he’s going to attack making plays off inbounds off inbounds plays just like cutting to the right spot

Making quick little reads and then attacking off the catch uh and shooting pullup threes I I like the way you know he’s big right and he uses his stride length and his ability to kind of lean and create angles to get himself to the rim um he changes directions really well

He kind of just says or changes speeds pretty well he goes from like um not very fast to even slower and that like but he’s taking these big strides so he can get past people with like that first big stride and then he and then he moves

At his speed and he has um he’s had decent touch with that little right-handed sort of hook push around the rim he’s not like this Elite finisher in the paint by any means but again his ability to create angles and and to create um the sort of spot get to

His spots by his with his stride length and his and how how long he is particularly when he’s guarded by like you know guys who are 6 fiveish he’s got some stuff right like 315 and and nine assists is some stuff um I I I it’s like at this time of year I’m

Reminded of Brandon Williams’s run with the Blazers that this was two years ago in 2022 uh and he had a late season run where it’s just like you know he had like a 25 and 12 game against Oklahoma City and it was like well I don’t think

He’s going to do this but like he deserves to be in the league and then he was like cut he was just like straight up not on the team um in in the future because it’s just like sometimes guys who get the ball in their hands get like

These volume minutes and so that’s why I’ve been like thinking about Bon is like what if he had a smaller role I think he’s interesting enough and he’s big enough like the size that he can play like multiple positions I don’t think you want him to play a bunch of

Small forward I think you want him to play one or the two um and you want him to play like as that perfectly suited as like a benchu um because I don’t think I think defensively he gives a little bit up as as as a three cuz he’s he’s a

Little slender and he’s not like super impactful on defense but he’s scoring 31 points 28 points and 31 points Off the Bench if nothing else because he has a lightly guaranteed contract it’s couple hundred thousand dollar and then it’s not fully non-g guaranteed beyond that and so the

Blazers could just keep him on the roster until for very cheap and then keep him you know pay him you get paid like for when you’re on the team but uh they they wouldn’t have to make a decision whether to wave him or trade him or or or fully guarantee his

Contract till January I think depending on what other moves they make this summer and boy they better make a lot of moves this summer they better um they better the for my money the roster should look different next year significantly um Banton deserves to be involved because he has shown that he is

Good enough to be an intri he has some intriguing stuff and because he isn’t you don’t have to you’ve already you know his contract has you don’t have to like make a you don’t have to carve out a ton of cap space for him and you don’t

Have to um you don’t have to add like multiple years on a contract to keep him you can just say I like what you do come back next year and see if you can do it in another setting and I think he’s earned absolutely that opportunity because he’s during a season and during

A stretch when it has not been very fun he’s if nothing else provided us a bunch of fun and he’s provided like an intriguing an intriguing option probably not going to shoot 20 times in the future but if you make five of 11 threes you get to keep shooting um Bon he just

Delano does it again as as Kevin collabro called him on the broadcast the other night uh delightful I believe is what he said that’s a really bad Kevin collabro impression Casey if you’re listening I’m sorry okay let’s talk about some draft prospects to watch um I’m going to be

Tuned into the NCA tournaments um probably just to enjoy basketball but along the way I will do some amateur draft scouting uh and I’ll tell you who I’m going to be watching and some prospects that uh for the Blazers to at least consider uh as we as we uh get

Scout uh the the swed 16 of the men’s NCA tournament starts on Thursday uh with four games we got Clemson vers Arizona San Diego State vers Yukon and and Illinois vers Iowa State are are the three games I’m going to be focusing on with with the most uh sort of uh

Um draft energy the University of North Carolina Tar Hills also play against Alabama I don’t think there’s Surefire Pros in that game you know Carolina has Harrison Ingram who’s like a second round um uh pick type a sort of versatile forward and and and an intriguing player that um could could

Conceivably Go Pro but the other games have guys who are probably going to come out and be available so let’s for now first of all like I just want Carolina win I’m not going to be watching that for uh for scouting purposes I’m just going to be watching it as a nervous fan

Uh but the other games uh Clemson Arizona San Diego State and Yukon and Illinois Iowa State on Thursday let’s run through some some some draft names to to watch here these are a bunch of names that I’ve mentioned so if you’re you’re an everyday listener you’ve heard

Me mention them but I I I’ve watched them in the NCA tournament so I have I don’t know if I have updated takes but I have updated um my eyeballs I’ve seen them more recently um Kad Johnson the big guy at uh at Arizona might be my probably of

The guys who are playing in the sweet 16 probably the guy who I think is most intriguing as a second round Target for the Blazers right now I just think the the energy on defense the versatility on defense the rebounding and from what I I I haven’t seen Arizona play a bunch this

Year but when I’ve seen him play he’s made a three in every game um he’s shooting above 38% from three heading into the tournament or was shooting above 38% from three three adding into the tournament like I like him as a second round pick um Blazers have 34 and

40 in the second round I to me he’s intriguing um pel Larson the W the wing for for Arizona he’s he’s interesting but I don’t I don’t have the same sort of affinity for him after watching him a couple times um I think he’s pretty good

Maybe he gets drafted and um and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s an NBA player but I I didn’t I came away watching Kad Johnson I said yeah like he I like the package of of stuff he has he doesn’t do a lot on offense he doesn’t

Do a lot on offense but he plays hard and he can make stand still three-pointers and to me that’s like those are role player skills and then you try to develop some other stuff okay what what you know what other other things you can do if you draft a guy at

40 you’re hoping they stick one of the ways you can stick is you do the simple things he seems to do those things I like heot Johnson PJ hall for Clemson will also be in that game I I’ve seen PJ Hall play a lot he doesn’t jump off the

Page to me as an NBA player uh he’s projected to go in the sort of the 40s and 50s on most drafts uh so like middle of the second round I’ve seen him as high as the top of the second round um you know he’s a big guy who has some

Offensive versatility um he can rebound I would I expect him to get drafted I am not he doesn’t to me he does not scream uh NBA player and I’ve probably seen him you know I’m an ACC guy I’ve seen him play a bunch uh the next game San Diego State and Yukon

Yukon’s just got pros that are intriguing I like both of them their lottery pick uh projected lottery picks Donan Kling and the big guy 72 um cing Kong I learned that they call him over the weekend um sophomore giant sophomore giant person play you know played limited minutes on on last year’s

Team has a bigger role this year he’s I’ve mentioned this previously it’s like I’ve probably seen him play fiveish games um not a ton like I don’t watch college basketball like that and I would never lie to you like I’ve watched eight Yukon games because I’m watching the NBA

Baby watching I I’m watching the end of uh of the end of a very stupid Sixers Clippers game I don’t have time for college basketball um but I’ve probably seen him play five games the last two years some of those games I feel like he’s really slow and I worry about him

Some of those games I’m like that’s a pro like that’s a pro that’s Steven Adams 2.0 um I think he can pass a little bit I really think he can block shots he might have enough um defensive lateral quickness to be to play you know defense in the NBA at a level that

Matters if you’re just a drop big in the NBA you’re probably a backup um if you can move your feet a little bits you have a chance to be like an impactful uh you know half the half the game 24 to 28 minute center before they put in like a

Real shooting center he doesn’t shoot threes he shoots poorly from the free throw line I think that’s a concern he’s not much of an offensive player at this point but he’s like the rebounding the size I think he has some some defensive it’s maybe not like he has a

Potential to develop some real tools I I like him I I would I would not hesitate if he’s in that with the Warriors pick range 12 through 14 to to to use that that late lottery pick on him Steph Castle I just um he’s just just he’s

Just he’s just a good defensive player who does stuff like he’s a Swiss army knife type on offense you know he doesn’t get the ball in his hands a bunch in the way that um Yukon plays so he doesn’t he doesn’t like you’re not

Going to see him do a bunch of stuff on offense but in his role on offense I think he does it well and he’s a really good defensive player and he has like some passing ability and some size and some defensive skills maybe he can’t

Shoot I don’t love that about him but I think like just like the I’ll be interested to watch Yukon a little more in this tournament and see if um I feel like Castle’s offense intrigues me enough because right now the defense definitely does um the other kid from

From Yukon who watches Alex caran a wing um I think he’s projected as a second round pick but castle and and and clinging are definitely um are are projected as lottery pick so the Blazers have two picks likely to be in the Lottery this year the last game on

Thursday is is that with NBA prospects in it Illinois and Iowa State Shannon Terence Jr uh from Illinois he had 30 in their last tournament game um it was against duain like uh so it’s kind of the weirdness of the tournament sometimes you a team gets an upset in

The round one and he like oh we are very overmatched in round two um but like um dude’s a bucket 66 Wing you know he’s been in college a while he’s a little older but like 66 Wing who can absolutely score um part of me loves

Chuckers so there’s a part of me that loves Chuckers so it’s like I’m I’m intrigued by him um I you know Step Up in competition in in in the sweet 16 I want to see I want to see what he continues to do because he was hot hot

Coming in in um into the tournament and he’s he was really good last weekend when I watched him okay Friday games and I want to talk a little bit about zachie ver Donovan Kling and that’s what we will do to close the show those are your Thursday games and Thursday guys to

Watch is as you are doing your your fake draft scout your amateur draft scouting in the NCA tournament let let’s talk about a couple other names to know and and a little bit about Zaki vers verse uh verse Donovan kinging to close the show first I want to tell you that this

Next segment is brought to you by better help uh therapy can be incredibly valuable um talking to a neutral third party about the struggles of everyday life can um can help you develop the tools and develop to be the best version of yourself if you’re dealing with an

Acute trauma it’s incredibly valuable to talk to a therapist if you are just dealing with what it’s like to be alive in 2024 it can be incredibly valuable to talk to a therapist so if you are thinking about starting therapy why not give better help a try it’s entirely

Online designed to be flexible and suited to your schedule so visit betterhelp.com lockon MBA to get 10% off your first month that’s better help hp.com Lockton NB hey all right still a pass first point guard I’m still Mike Richmond and you are still listening to lock on Blazers Thursday games got my eyeballs

On a couple on on on a trio of games I’m really just going to like watch Carolina and if they win I’ll keep watching college basketball and if they lose I’ll be sad that’s that’s probably how it’s going to go down we’re being honest uh Friday games NC State Marquette um Tyler

KCK is just a pass first point guard’s dream just really good Collegiate point guard who is projected by ESPN to be a late first round pick um I don’t think the Blazers need more guards uh but he’s probably going to be someone who gets an NBA look next year so take a

Look at him and uh for when if you’re watching Marquette also watch my man d DJ Burns freny state just just a fun basketball player a giant a giant person listed at like 285 a giant person who can really pass and has exceptional touch uh and is an incredible interview

Um you know go wolffy or whatever but like I would have it would have been better if they didn’t make the tournament because then they would have uh would have not beat Carolina in the AC tournament but it happens uh the I’ll skip Gonzaga and Purdue for now um Duke

Houston Duke’s got two dudes who are going to be drafted in the first round um Kyle Phil palowski you know when I read about him from from draft people from people who do this professionally who are not amateur draft Scouts like me their concern with him is that he um

Maybe can’t shoot as well as they thought my concern when I watch him is that I don’t think he can play center in the NBA because he gets overpowered by by tall people the aforementioned DJ Burns bossed him Armando Bott in in for Carolina Bost him just like big physical

Collegiate centers they had their way getting into the paint when they won when Duke guarded when Duke let flip guard one-on-one big guys big guys um gave him trouble I think his feet and on offense are awesome his footwork is awesome his touch on offense is awesome

Um you know he’s not a great he hasn’t been a great three-point shooter but he’s like I think he has a package to be totally functional as as a as an offensive player I just don’t know if he can play center and if he can’t play center in the NBA

He is he a four are there fours that are does he have the skill set to play power is he going to guard Jeremy Grant in a game next year that seems unlikely um he’s skilled enough that he’s going to be like a late lottery or top 20 pick

Like he just has he’s 7 feet tall with a lot of offensive skills I think I think that’s worth taking a risk on I just don’t I don’t see it as a defensive with the physicality defensively he he blocks shots um I think even in the in Dukes

Games in the tournament like his size just like um deters college players from driving to the rim I don’t don’t think it’ll be the same thing in in the NBA but um I do think he’s like I think he has enough skill on offense to be worth

It the other Duke player that is that is likely to go in the first round is jar McCain um he’s like of to to my knowledge the first like true Tik Tok star where we’ve reached the era where it was like he was famous on the

Internet before he got to before he went to an incredibly famous college basketball program that gets like 22 games on national TV every year um he can really shoot and uh watching the DU Carolina games he’s a really good rebounder for someone who’s like 62 63

Um Jay bilis was says he’s the best rebounding guard in the the AC in the ACC I bet Jay bis knows um he could really shoot really good catch and shoot shooter has some craft to get to the rim um and can really sing has an incredible

Singing voice uh I don’t is he a two is he a two or a is like I don’t think he’s a point guard at least doesn’t play much on ball stuff at Duke and point guardy stuff but he can score absolutely can score and can get hot um I think he’s a

Probably a top 25 pick just because of his offensive skill set and he’s young um it’d be interesting to see what position he plays in the NBA but he’s he’s he’s worth getting ice on um kraton Tennessee uh you’re going to get Baylor shyan from kraton their their wing and

Then Dalton connect from Tennessee uh real quick on Dalton connect I I know a lot of Blazer fans at least like based on my emails and YouTube comments and stuff they like dton connect because he’s like a a shooter and this team desperately needs shooting no doubt about that think

That’s true for me um I think the Blazers should take swings on upside guys dton connect is a 23-year old Collegiate senior I do not think they should draft a 23y old with a lottery pick this team needs people who can develop into Stars connect is a guy not

That he can’t get better and not that like college seniors never improve and are are never good NBA players but I think they need to they would be better served taking like a big upside swing on someone who can um turn in who has a much higher ceiling with a potential for

A much lower FL because of that higher ceiling I think connect has a much higher floor but a lower ceiling and for me that wouldn’t be what I would do in the lottery but I understand the appeal totally okay Gonzaga Purdue you’re going to see Zak he’s the freaking best player

In college basketball he’s averaging like 26 and 17 in the NCA tournament he’s absolutely a physical beast and ESPN has him at 15 Sam Vini in his recent mock draft said that that NBA people have been telling him that Ed’s going to go right outside the lottery but he’s absolutely

Ely a first round pick so he’s like in the teens right um Jonathan Javon at um or gavone at at ESPN like he he gets the stuff right if he has Ed at 15 I bet he’s going to go in that range like he get javone gets the stuff

Right last year I wouldn’t have drafted e at all I would have been like he’s undraftable he can’t play in the league now he’s all all the way up at 15 he seems to have a really really similar SK skill set with Donovan kinging and actually uh friend of the program rapael

Barlo wrote about this exact phenomenon right it’s like that Kling is considered a Surefire Lottery Pick and Ed is considered like a woo I don’t know overdraft at 15 and I feel that way like I am part of that sort of strange group think that says kinging good Edy bad

Even though they’re very similar and Ed’s a better offensive player I’ll tell you what though here’s my actual take on it and this might just be group think and I might be a victim of this and I might be a victim of reading draft boards and might be a

Victim of I you know I’ve seen I’ve seen Ed play parts of six games in his entire college career like I haven’t watched him that much but I watched him over the weekend obviously way way way way over like dominant against that level of competition I think he always just turns

Over his left shoulder and shoots right-handed hooks so does DeAndre Aon to some extent but like Aon is much more physically gifted um I worry that Ed’s offense just isn’t because he’s a non-shooter he’s like a postup Masher um I worry that like this this Simplicity of that offense might not translate and

I worry that he’s just slow on defense I think kingan is when I’ve watched him I’m I’m that’s said in the the second segment it’s like sometimes I feel like he’s really slow and sometimes I feel like oh he’s moving his feet he’s versatile he can defend baby I think he

Blocks I think Clingan is it’s better better shot blocker and maybe has more scheme versatility on defense but Ed’s just the production is undeniable and he’s so freaking big and if you’re talking about uh this 72 dude or this other 72 dude and one of them is

Averaging 27 and 16 it’s kind of undeniable to look at the production and say maybe that’s real you know last year I think y got a the second round draft grade and this year he’s he’s a lottery Pick and that might have something to do

With the draft class but I think it has a lot to do with how much he’s improved and how much he’s improving the eyes of NBA Scouts um I right now today I was recording this at about 11: pm on on on Wednesday March 27th I would still take

Kinging over 80 you know seven days a week I’m not sure that over by the end of the NCA tournament I’ll still feel that way obviously small sample size and like recency bias and all that nonsense um I don’t have to make the decision I just have to I’m going to offer my

Honest opinion right now I’m still clinging over Ed but I I feel like there is a tendency this time of year when something has been written enough times by enough people in the same way that everyone takes it to be factually true scoot Henderson is better than Brandon

Miller couple people say I think Brandon Miller might be better sometimes it’s better to um in this draft world when you see some like oh that’s a truly wild opinion why do they hold that oh that’s an opinion that goes against what everyone else says why do

They hold that I’m not saying you need to adopt the opinion for the sake of being a contrarian but I think considering um if something is held so certain by so many people considering why it might be that way and particularly with prospects that seemingly are very similar I think

  1. Banton's height and handle compliments the Blazers foundation back court of Ant, Scoot, and Sharpe. And if the salary cap concerns did not make it obvious that Brog is gone, Banton does. Blazers should go for Wings and Bigs. There is not a single guard in this draft that is so dominant that they demand to be picked.

  2. Knect could be a trade kicker; this is another reason to draft a player not just taking a gamble on the upside.

  3. Filipowski is a stiff. Duop and Badji are more athletic. If we're drafting stiff, tall Bigs, then draft Edey, but I prefer Matas, Tyler, or Dalton for our second pick I like Sarr, Risarchie for our first pick. Second round da Silva and Hall.

  4. Picking a center with Ayton, Rob, and Reath on the roster is malpractice. The Blazers need big wings who can shoot and create.

  5. In my view what the Blazers need is either a good 3andD swingman and/or a bruising tough-as-nails big who can be depended on to show up each night and always give it their all unlike someone I could name (cough cough Ayton cough cough) and who will play D and rebound like a beast. Im hoping they get a shot at Sarr but not overly optimistic about it. Some recent mock drafts I have seen have Portland taking Stephon Castle from UConn. Good wing player. Edey could be ok, but would have trouble going out to the three point line to cover bigs that can shoot from there. We will see. The NBA does seem to be shifting, if slightly, away from the small ball and tons of threes era with players like Giannis and Joker leading teams to championships lately. Maybe this will continue and a Zach Edey could defy the current narrative that I hear about him probably not doing well in the NBA, maybe not. Time will tell.
