Kristaps Porzingis Explains How He Avoided Injuries This Season | Celtics vs Hawks

Better not how weird is it being in a city for this long playing the same team I mean it’s weird it’s not the worst place in the world to be you know Atlanta is is a nice city and uh but it what’s weird I think that they have a

Game in between that’s the weirdest part I feeling so uh but yeah all good what did you see in the film from when’s game uh did we watch film I don’t think we did did we joke I don’t know before PR yesterday or did Joe Point prac yeah we

Practiced yesterday I don’t think we watched film uh but we practiced yesterday and to be honest there not that’s like many things to look at it was more of just our like uh we just got a little bit comfortable in that game you know going up 30 that early got a

Little bit comfortable and as I said like post game we just paid the price for it depending on Drew there’s a chance the starting five that started this season will get to play together tonight which is not something that’s happened a lot in these last two months

Um how important will it be for you guys to get some rhythm going it’s good I think it’s always like I was out for a couple games and you know it takes takes a little bit to kind get in a good rhythm again you know same for Drew it’s

Important that I think we we have good stretch now finishing the season um with the you know the guys are going to play the most minutes uh just to be in a good Rhythm and connected uh before we start the big run is priority priority too yes to like get

You guys on the no no no I mean it’s not like life or death you know obviously you know Drew is a very experienced player and he will fit right in and he’s done an incredible job this season of um just being a a great leader great uh

Teammate uh and fitting in into into what uh what this team needs and that goes as I’ve said before it goes a little bit unnoticed I think but he deserves a lot of credit and he will jump right back into into what we’re doing and we’re playing and he knows

This he’s very experienced so I don’t think it’s going to like be a big adjustment for him uh but it’s always as I said it’s always good to us just get together right before we start the postseason I have one more turn sorry um you’re shooting a career high percentage

Inside the paint how much more space do you have with this team is that do you think why I think uh yeah um I didn’t know that actually interesting it’s probably getting a lot of like deep post-ups uh a lot of space a lot of lobs uh so easy buckets I would

You know uh put that to to to that and uh and also being effective on my my own like post stups you know probably adds to that so um great job team mates and great job KP the impression of how the team is managed your health this year your first

Year here I know other Washington you were you had a really good good strong season and you’ve been healthy mostly the last couple years but what’s have been your impression how you’ve been managed this year in terms of like not playing playing minutes offense yeah

Yeah I mean I think uh the team has done like everything uh that uh they felt like they needed to do to protect me and to you know make sure we just get to the postseason as healthy as possible you know and not for me but for everybody

And for me it maybe looks a little bit different a bit more caution with each situation with each little you know ankle Ro or you know whatever and I understand that part for me of course I I was able to and I wanted to play through more stuff but there will be a

Time and place to do that you know and and that will be in the postseason so uh right now yeah just to get to the playoffs is the most important uh thing uh gets the playoffs healthy and I think the staff the medical staff has done a

Great job of keeping us healthy you think it’s been the key to staying healthier as your career has progressed obviously early on you had a lot of injuries you dealt with but last couple years you’ve been able to stay out there more often yeah I think uh like to be

Honest one part is I think little bit like narrowing down my game like the things that I do on the floor I do less and less stuff to be honest they’re just it’s much more effective of what I do and I know my movements um much better so it’s less

Out there and probably less athletic also than the beginning of my career um so you know obviously with less jumping and less crazy movements there’s less chance chance maybe of getting hurt but also my body just m maturing uh working on my body non-stop to try to avoid all

The stuff that’s you know possible to avoid and uh and some luck of course you know there’s uh there’s that component that early in my career like the injuries that I the major ones that I had was all contact injuries you know and and um and and those are you know

Tough to avoid and uh just didn’t have the best luck and feel like now my body is to a point where where uh I’m staying healthy and and I’m feeling good and and and I’m doing all the work necessary to keep myself on the court what’s been the process of acclimating Xavier Tillman

And Jaden Springer over the last few months and what role have you felt you’ve had they’ve been great since day one they came in um knowing this is a championship caliber team and they fited right in uh great teammates great guys uh on and off the floor uh both like

Willing to learn as much as possible picking th things up very quickly and uh it’s great to see that and and uh and I think they can they can be uh they can really help us last nighto band went crazy he was looking like jayen out

There basically like 30 and 10 he was throwing down big dunks he couldn’t really get on the floor here you see these guys playing in practice guys that don’t really play that much they get out here and they kind of struggle number Rhythm so I guess what does it say that

Like every player in the NBA can really play when they get the opportunity and what do you see from these guys I don’t know if I agree with that every player can play like that but Delano definitely has a talent and a lot of it is uh just

Confid confidence you knowing that if you make two mistakes in a row you’re not going to come out you know it’s not that high pressure like uh Team where it’s like everybody needs to you know here he’s has a little more freedom I think and that gives him the confidence

To go out there try and new stuff be aggressive and uh and he has the talent to do these kind of things to have these kind of games um so it’s definitely good to see him yeah being happy and enjoying basketball like this and and and just playing free

Kristaps Porzingis talked about staying healthy this season and reacted to Dalano Banton’s 30 point games with the Trail Blazers after the Celtics traded him.

  1. They have done a very good job keeping him safe since the day he arrived and will continue to do so as we get ready for the playoffs. When he got pulled from the World Cup, I knew he wasn't hurt. It was all precautionary. Also, Porzingis hasn't stopped smiling since he arrived in Boston; he likes it.

  2. When the team picks up a good player but has had a history of injuries then you have to keep him safe throughout the season , and be very precautious as you get closer to playoffs.

  3. Load managing him throughout the season helps like not playing him on b2bs during the stretch of the season
