The LaMelo Ball PROBLEM…

The LaMelo Ball PROBLEM…

Yo what’s going on y’all it’s con back here again today with another video and today I want to talk for a little bit about lamelo ball in the Charlotte Hornets I haven’t made a video on them this entire season and to be honest I wasn’t planning to the rest of the way

They’ve been really bad I was expecting them to be pretty bad this season and at the moment they’re 18- 52 they’re well out of the planing race they’re headed for another Lottery appearance it’s going to be the eighth consecutive one for them they did have a playing appearance amongst these playoff misses

Where they won 43 games back in 2022 but lost through I believe it was the Pacers in that 910 matchup and haven’t been back since I do think a lottery appearance is good for them right now they’re clearly still a ways away from being a competitive team and adding an

Extra young core piece potentially with a top five pick in this draft definitely won’t hurt especially because whoever they draft this year assuming they do take someone and don’t trade the pick is going to be joining a pretty interesting young core already in place here in Charlotte there’s some real star

Potential with a number of players on this team and one of those core guys is Brandon Miller he has had a phenomenal rookie season a locked to make all rookie first team and if Chad and wemy weren’t having two of the greatest rookie seasons ever Brandon Miller in

Most years would be right up there at the top of the conversation to win Rookie of the Year 17 points per game 4.3 boards and 2.4 assists shooting 44% from the field and 37.3% from Deep while playing some pretty solid defense he’s had some amazing flashes of shot making

Shot creation finishing around the rim knocking down outside shots last game he had a 30 piece which it feels like he’s had a number of times here in the second half of the season Brandon Miller has been fantastic I was someone who’s a bit more of a scoot fan going into the draft

And Brandon Miller has shown exactly why so many people did like the pick for Charlotte taking him with the number two overall selection there are some people that will tell you that Brandon Miller is the guy going forward for the Hornets and if you believe that I don’t blame

You that’s how good he’s been Mark Williams is someone that I really liked a lot going into this season after a pretty solid rookie year and he’s shown a lot of the potential when he is on the coure unfortunately hasn’t been out there A lot has played Just 19 games

This season but in those games he was a high level defensive big a great play finisher rim protector put up about 13 points per game with 10 boards over a block per contest 65% shooting from the field he and lamelo as well as the rest

Of the guys on this young team we really building a lot of chemistry if he can get back out there I think he’s one of the most interesting young centers in the entire league Trey man has shown a lot for the Hornets ever since they picked him up at the deadline over from

Oklahoma City he’s got more opportunity there and has put up 12 points per game five rebounds and five dimes with 1.6 Steals on 46% from the field and 37.7% from deep in his 18 games he has been really good it feels like he could either be a future guy in the back court

For them or maybe even a six-man with a really high upside in that scoring regard Nick Richards has had some really solid run for them this season especially in the absence of Mark Williams Grant Williams has been pretty solid for the Hornet since coming over even poku has had some pretty good

Minutes also coming over from Oklahoma City it’s not the best young core in hoops there are teams I would take over them but I do think they’re building something really intriguing over there they have a lot of potential especially if they do add one of these top picks

This upcoming draft and that’s all while hardle talking about the most important part of the equation to them in lamelo ball he went third overall to the Hornets back in the 2020 draft and had an amazing rookie season winning Rookie of the Year over Anthony Edwards despite

Playing only about 60 games by year two he was already making his first All-Star appearance he was dropping 20 points per game at seven rebounds and eight dimes a night 1.6 steal shooting 39% from Deep he was getting in the passing Lanes knocking down logo shots creating a lot

Of his own offense as well as the offense for the whole team some of the most absurd passes you’ll ever see from a young playmaker he just has that Vision to him he was incredible earned that All-Star appearance and brought the Hornets to a play and appearance like I

Mentioned earlier they didn’t end up making the playoffs but it was higher than I thought they were going to go that season that team overperformed because in large part due to lamelo ball and the overall impact he had on them offensively every single night it felt

Like from that year on he was going to be a pennial Allstar an all NBA Contender and he still can be at some point like I still feel like he’s on that trajectory it’s just that the past two seasons unfortunately have been plagued by injuries it started in the

2022 2023 campaign when L Mel missed the first 13 games of the Season due to an ankle injury came back played three games again missed time for 11 games before eventually returning and looking great in the process at that time he started putting up fantastic numbers of

Career high 23.3 points per game at 8.4 dimes looking like his usual All-Star self and that continued for a little bit until February 27th where unfortunately in a game versus Detroit he would end up fracturing his ankle he was put out for the year following that after just 36

Games played and it was a rough season for the Hornets one that led to a way worse year in the standings than they were hoping for I’m sure they were looking to build off of the playe appearance maybe even make the playoffs but instead fell all the way down

Towards the bottom of the standings although it probably worked out in the long run because it got them Brandon Miller who again is killing it this season and now with Miller in the fold alongside other young guys like Lamela ball Mark Williams veterans like Tera Rosier Gordon Hayward it seemed like the

Hornets could build off last year I didn’t have them as a playing Team definitely not a playoff team but it feel like it could definitely be a better season than the one they showed the year prior while the Hornets wen’t winning at the beginning of the Season

Lamelo ball did come out of the gate on fire over his first 14 games balls putting up 26 points per game six boards and nine dimes with one and a half steals while shooting 44% from the field and 39% from Deep on 9.4 attempts per game which is Elite shooting

Individually he was playing at an All-Star lock all NBA Fringe type of level at the beginning of the Season you could see chemistry developing between him and Mark Williams which is one of my favorite guard big pairings in the entire league amongst young guys you could also see he and Bron Miller kind

Of figuring it out a little bit they were showing all the potential in the world as a Duo the vision was there for the Hornets I was starting to feel it really buying into what they were building over there and the future seemed bright like I said not a lot of

Wins were coming but towards the end of November they did get back-to-back wins one versus Boston in one versus Washington with a mellow ball in those two games putting up 369 and 8 and 348 and 12 which marked the third and fourth straight games where lamelo put up 30 or

More points it was the best he ever looked it was crazy the hype was building up around him I remember a lot of my fellow YouTubers making videos about lamelo ball and his performance there were people in the offseason I feel like kind of forgot how good lamelo

Was and they were saying that they were wrong they were buying into him being a star Allstar maybe even all NBA player this season it felt like lamelo ballst was at an all-time high until the next game where unfortunately Lelo landed awkwardly after a layup against the

Magic and injured his angle again he was unable to put weight on heading back to the locker room and this was a massive blow to the team one that preceded a 2 and 15 stretch over the next 17 games where they were getting blown up by 30

Left and right it felt like he would return on January 12th after those 17 games and again looked great although not quite as good as his pre-injury self but towards the end of that stretch you could feel him kind of refining his rhythm and then just another freak

Accident where PJ Washington lands on his ankle when they’re both contesting a shot immediately goes down and once again has to be helped to the locker room since then lamelo hasn’t shown up on the court and the reason I’m making this video is because today it was

Announced that lamelo ball is going to be shut down for the rest of the season ending an amazing year for him or what felt like was going to be an amazing year after just 22 games played that’s the lowest Mark of his four-year career so far with this lamelo has played Just

58 games over these past two seasons and just 57% of all possible games up to this moment in his career it’s starting to get concerning especially because I know from personal experience ankle injuries like to linger I’ve had a bunch of them and I know every time you have

One it becomes easier and easier to have another and the meow ball obviously has like the best sports therapist physical therapist in the world with being an NBA player so he’ll probably be most likely fine but it is a trend at this moment and Steve Clifford said that he’s been

Very diligent up to this point about his rehab and his work but the ankle just hasn’t responded that doesn’t sound great I don’t feel like ankle injury should be keeping him out this much if it’s just a typical sprain it feels like something a bit larger than that and

There’s extra concern because we’ve seen what’s happened with his brother Lonzo ball where he had some injuries that didn’t feel like they were going to keep him out that long but now he hasn’t played in a couple of Seasons there’s still hope he can play next year and

He’s getting a bit better as of late but he’s been out for a while and I’m not saying that’s going to happen to lamelo or anything like that it’s just something that makes me a bit more concerned I just want to see lamelo back out there doing what he loves and

Hooping and unfortunately as of late he just hasn’t been consistently on the court it really sucks for both him and the Hornets he should be out there making himself known as one of the League’s brightest young Stars continuing what seemed like it was going to be a career year for him he should

Have had another All-Star appearance maybe an all NBA appearance or the very least probably would have gotten consideration if he kept playing the way that he was instead he’s watching from the bench and for the Hornets they’re not getting a chance to evaluate their young Corp figure out who they need to

Put around these guys who should be there for the Long Haul like for example they’re not getting a chance to evaluate how lamel ball and trayman work as a back court they feel like guys that could theoretically coexist with each other and if they can that’s huge but

They’re not going getting a chance to evaluate this right now they’re going to have to wait till the beginning of next season assuming lamelo is good to go by then to actually figure that out so it’s just delaying this whole process for them and if this ankle injury Trend

Continues it makes the hor future suddenly a lot more up in the air like Brandon Miller’s amazing and feels like he can be a future Allstar Mark Williams is fantastic too if he can get on the court that’s big for them but lamelo ball is the franchise guy he is the

Player that they sign to a Max contract for good reason he made an Allstar in his second season probably would have had a couple more appearances if he was on the court this year was the best season of his career he was playing the best Hoops we’ve ever seen from him and

The injuries just keep popping up it’s really unfortunate I hate to see it I hate how injuries have kind of ravaged this Hornet young cor as of late with L Melo ball being the biggest recipient I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this is just a beginning of his career thing

Like Steph Curry had a bunch of ankle injuries at the beginning of his career eventually kind of figured it out and now you see where he’s at I’m hoping we can see something similar with lamel where this offseason they figure out okay how do we avoid these for the most

Part going forward he’s able to get back on the court and do the same stuff he was doing this year next season and if he can get out there again he Brandon Miller Mark Williams whoever they get in this upcoming draft Trey man if he

Continues to play the way that he is if he works in that back court they have such a bright future ahead of them I really feel like the Hornets have kind of flown under the radar with this great young core that they put together as of

Late I can’t think of a time where I’ve been more excited about the Charlotte Hornets than I am right now if l lamelo can get back out there I’m really hoping he can next season but it is something that’s very concerning and for the moment has delayed the timeline of this

Team has put things a lot more up in the air than they would have been otherwise it just really sucks for all parties involved but yeah with all that being said I think that’s all I’ve got for this Hornets lamelo ball situation at the moment just super unfortunate let me

Know Down Below in the comments what you think of this Hornets young core do you think lamelo is the franchise guy going forward could it be Brandon Miller is it someone they could draft this year let me know what you think about the young cor General too where do you rank them

Amongst the young teams in the league how far do you think they could go next season if everybody’s healthy just let me know what you think about this Hornets team cuz I know I haven’t talked about them much this year on the channel and they are in a pretty interesting

Spot at the moment I appreciate you watching leave a like And subscribe if you enjoyed hit the notification Bell so you don’t miss out our future videos I’ll see youall later real one sa back

LaMelo Ball has been the franchise guy for the Charlotte Hornets ever since he went top 3 in the 2021 NBA Draft. He’s been an All Star and has shown flashes of becoming an All-NBA level player. Unfortunately, he has suffered a number of injuries along the way and it was just announced that his 2024 season is over due to another ankle injury. It’s starting to become a concerning trend for LaMelo, one that has me worried about the future of him and the Charlotte Hornets. Charlotte has done a great job of building up a young core with a ton of potential, but none of it works if LaMelo Ball can’t stay healthy. Let’s talk about it.

  1. So sad for the Ball Brothers. Two guys with unlimited potential and were living up to the hype but just plagued with injuries. Man, incredibly unfortunate that we will never be able to see them at full speed.

At some point, it just feels like Lavar put too many miles on them from such a young age, or it's just plain genetics. I pray they recover and can just play the game safely and confidently again.

  2. Melo didn't really have an off-season last year due to an injury. He was barely even ready to play for the preseason games this year, so I believe he should get a lot better this time around. Praying for a healthier upcoming season 🙏

  3. These injuries sucked, man. I'm hoping Melo can just get healthy and Mark Williams doesn't need surgery. The Hornets are running 8 man rotations because of the amount of injuries they're still experiencing. There was nothing play for, so it wasn't worth bringing him back out. Good news is there's a bit more depth there. They need a lot more size, too.

  4. As a Hornets’ fan, it’s so frustrating. We have an amazing core of the future (Ball, Williams, and Miller). Yet the injury bug has me equally pessimistic as LaMelo seems injury prone…smh!

  5. It's crazy to think how good they could have been if not for
    their dad's upbringing/training techniques/shoes/personality.
They made the NBA inspite of him, not because of him. His "blueprint" made everything harder/worse.

  6. Unfortunately injuries have really hindered our efforts but people forget just a few years ago we almost made it out the play in, we just need the personnel together on the court

  7. LaMelo is turning out to be a bust like lonzo. I was really rooting for him

  8. With Seth Curry on the team and Dell Curry as a commentator, LaMelo has 2 connections to Steph. I’m hoping he can get in touch with him and figure out what he did for his ankles and his body overall to improve his durability. LaMelo really needs to focus on his body this off-season. I don’t want him to be one of those “what if” guys.
