Get their Shooters open and today we’re looking at it from the uh Dallas Mavericks and for them they’re running this play oftentimes for Tim Hardway Jr let’s get a look at it first thing you’re going to see is the point guard coming across the top off of a double

High screen open up the paint you got one shooter in each corner you see the one shooter is kind of up on the elbow a little bit and so then after that you get this what can be a back screen or a pin down you can run it both ways and

Then a secondary screen for the shooter to come off of receive the pass and go into their jump shot one of the things I like about it is you open up the paint so you you finish with Shooters in each Corner three players at the top of the

Key so you have all this space for the defense to cover which allows if you pull the defender out the rim protector out to guard the shot you have an open paint to die and go for the offensive rebound legs what do you see here so many things I love this obviously I

Would have loved this action when I played if if to run a set like this and you know the initial ball screen is sort of token you’re not really trying to get anything out of that like you’re not trying to turn the corner in this case it’s Dante xam running this isn’t Luca

Maybe Luca sees something different and pulls that shot exm just gonna run token action and then on the weak side you know like you said Adam the KE is it could either be a back screen or a down screen and I think you’re going to mix

That up the reason it’s such a threat on the second screen is because of the threat that you have set a back screen on the first one and there’s someone running free to the rim as you can see right here that wasn’t even a legitimate backst stream by Tim Hardaway this is

Tiniest little bit of daylight they’ve also run this one with Jordan P this is obviously from uh from last season but you’re gonna see same thing they set the screen here and it creates the opening for that back cut you were talking about yeah so that one it almost looks like

They they do this as a mandate to set the back screen and I love it because as a shooter I can tell you there is no better way to guarantee getting open other than setting a back screen because what happens is typically a lot of times

One one of two things are going to happen the guy that’s guarding you in this case Steph Curry the guy that’s guarding Curry is so worried about Curry then coming off of a screen that you’re not gonna bump the first guy going to the rim like in this case I think it’s

Gary payt you’re not going to bump that so because you’re worried about staying connected to the shooter and if that’s the case you’ve got you know your best passer and Draymond Green coming off that’s that could be an easy lob play in this case they switched it right and

When you switch it a lot of times what happens the switch is late because I think this was a late call by Jimmy Butler and that’s why you’re gonna see Caleb Martin ends up just completely trailing this play because the call is made late and then it’s a nice little

Cleanup screen on the second part of that and here comes Curry off the top with a full head of steam getting the basketball there’s a number of things he can do out of this right there he can shoot a 28f footer off the catch he could have curled that in or he could

Just pull it out and rerun ball screen with a different matchup that’s the other option at the end of this and what I like about it here is Caleb Martin has to go from a switch to a p to a off ball screen in half a second and it’s boom
