Pistons possibly looking to poach Horst

The Pistons are believed to have interest in exploring the prospect of hiring Bucks GM Jon Horst as they search for a new head of basketball ops. Horst is a Mich. native, worked in Detroit and won Executive of the Year en route to Milwaukee’s 2021 title.

Don’t let the door hit you on the ass Jon

I could see him doing it if he has lost faith in Dame. The state of the bench is rather dire, and we have very little draft assets, so if he is doubting Dame’s ability to carry the Bucks alongside Giannis… then he may want to get out before it implodes.

It would be a convenient escape hatch for Horst. Leave our roster in a terrible place and bail. I could so see that happen.

Will always be grateful for the ship and trading for Jrue and Dame. Not gonna blame the coaching search entirely on him, but it’s his job to tell Giannis who is going to be HC… not the other way around

Horst coming in and immediately getting some old vets for leadership. Gallo, George Hill, and Ingles

If I’m Horst I’m probably taking that job. He’s already mortgaged our future for the guys we have now and he’s all out of assets to make anymore big improvements. He’s already won a Ring and GM’ing from here is going to be rough sledding with zero assets to get new guys and 2 superstars that will keep expecting you to improving this team. Horst has done a great job imo and I don’t have any hard feeling for him no matter what he decides to do going forward.

Despite some fans turning on him, this would be a disaster. He’s still one of the best GMs in the league.

Sure, next thing you’ll tell me Craig Counsell will leave and go manage the Cubs…

  9. Good riddance.I’m not even sure he likes basketball.

Good luck he doesn’t have the best track record drafting prospects

Like others have said it would be an easy way out for Horst and wouldn’t be surprised if he bolted at the first opportunity.

Horst is a good but flawed GM and the people criticizing him aren’t wrong. To name a few of his missteps:

    1. Tampering on the Bogdan trade with the Kings, costing us a 2022 second rd pick
    2. Messing up Pat Connaughtons first extension, forcing us to sign him for 3/16 instead of 2/8.
    3. Horrible at developing young players
    4. Trading Donte for Ibaka’s corpse
    5. The Adrian Griffin debacle

He also inherited Giannis and Khris, and Bud had a huge impact on shaping the culture and making it easier to identify the types of players who fit the team based on the system.

All in all, I think he did his part in delivering a ring but hasn’t done anything to prepare this team for the future. Which isn’t great.
