[Charania] NBA investigation found that prior to March 20 game, Porter disclosed confidential information about his health to an NBA bettor. Another person connected to Porter placed an $80K parlay to win $1.1 million wagering Porter would underperform. The bet ultimately was frozen.

  2. defeated_engineer

I wonder if Adam Silver gave the verdict or Draft Kings.

  3. MemeMeOnce

Did he ever consider just being a NBA player for a living instead

  4. NevermoreSEA

I can’t really imagine there are many $80K bets going around based on players of his caliber lmao.

  5. Upvotepartycrasher

crazy they thought that bet wouldn’t raise suspicions

How could this possibly happen, the NBA said in a press conference sponsored by Draft Kings

  8. YemeniChad

I don’t gamble so i’m curious in what circumstances a bet gets frozen? Seems pointless to gamble if they can just freeze it whenever they lose too much

  9. NebraskaAvenue

It takes a special kind of stupid to think you would get away with this

  10. AmbitiusKillah

Not very smart move lmao, who thinks autorities are not going to investigate a 80k bet about guy who barely makes the rotation

  11. lilmulla1

Bro took Fred’s advice a little bit too literally

  12. upghr5187

Placing an $80k prop bet on a player most have never heard of is a dead giveaway of inside info.

  13. helloitsmeimherenow

GAMBLING PSA: IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO WIN LONG TERM. DO NOT GAMBLE.

  14. whowasonCRACK2

Not that I think this is what happened, but what if a player just tells his friend or family some injury information and they turn around and gamble on it without the player knowing?

  15. Screw this guy and I think he needs to be punished but since when is your health confidential. I understand why a doctor can’t disclose information but can’t I share my info with who ever I want?

If I understand this correctly if an NBA player comes down with cancer they can’t tell their friends and family?

  16. Impressive-Potato

Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered way to bring way too much attention to yourself you dipshit.

  17. california-whiskey

damn the NBA should ban him and any of his relatives for LIFE or at least until the end of the first round of playoffs

  18. Western-Mission9307

I’m about to find some bench player and ruin their career by playing an $80k bet on them to under perform.

  19. chomcham

Am I missing something, is this guy a good player? I mean is it nepotism or is a baller?

  20. Dsarg_92

This should be an example of not fumbling a once in a lifetime opportunity. Only to throw away your career for $20k.

  21. liltrikz

He saw “bet on yourself” and took it literally

  22. flawless_victory99

Amazing how these guy’s don’t realise gambling sites have ways to identify suspicious betting. That’s gonna get flagged immediately he’s not LeBron

  23. TMBActualSize

If this was a more prominent player, would we see this kind of punishment? What happens when someone’s dad makes a bet on the player? This will be out of the news cycle soon, but I guarantee some kid at a Name University is going to get busted.

  24. One-Positive-7556

So the bet didn’t even go through? 🥶🤡

  25. Wonder if there are any criminal or civil charges incoming. Can’t imagine the sports books are especially pleased he tried to defraud them.

  26. Can you even parlays unders? It won’t let me when I try lol, only overs.

  27. ihaveaquestionormany

The only ‘acceptable’ outcome of the NBA’s partnership with betting companies is massive losses for the bettors and massive gains for the betting companies themselves. There will be very few (if any) stories about how much money these companies make off of fans, addicts, kids… etc. All of that is ‘above board’ as the NBA sees it despite being quite literally rigged for the house to always win.

  28. Madterps2021

Now start investigating the refs. There is no way some of these refs are that incompetent.

  29. Taurus889

I wish *He could play one more game only to have the crowd chant “YOU CANT DO THAT!”

  30. does your stomach just drop once your bet like this gets frozen? or are you still too dumb to realize you’re getting caught?

  31. PugilisticCat

This family legit has soft mush for brains

  32. barktothefuture

You can only tell shams your confidential injury information.

  33. ooSPECTACULARoo

If this guy was smart he would’ve started betting on himself by sending some randy to Vegas to place bets in person.

Doing it online is kinda dumb

  34. FlightAvailable3760

Confidential information about his health? We aren’t allowed to tell people how we are feeling anymore?

Fuck the bookies. Stop offering stupid prop bets.

  35. albert_head

When the refs have been caught cheating (all the separate times) in NBA games have they also been banned for life?

  36. BillowingPillows

How small of a bet do you think these idiots could have gotten away with? Like obviously 80k is moronic and going to get them caught, but these guys are dumb as rocks so that checks out. But what number wouldn’t have raised suspicion?

    5k?

  37. afedbeats

Helping a bro out to hit a major parlay only to get perma’d from the NBA has to be a first ballot HOF boneheaded career ending move

Even more funny that bro never got paid. All risk, zero upside. Amazing. Historic. Unrepeatable.

  38. Gregoritsch

Written kinda sneakily. Did the guy he disclosed info to place a bet on it? Did the other guy who placed a bet get info from Porter? Did the two guys talk to each other about it?
