Made the team relevant so i hope they do

  2. turb0mik3

Him, DJ, and Chris. They put the clippers on the map after being the laughing stock of the league for decades.

  3. Live_Investigator414

He won’t show up to the ceremony.

I’d say he’s the most important clipper ever, and regardless of if he got the chip, he saved the franchise. It would be cool if the clippers honored their word to him about having his jersey in the rafters, honor him as a clipper legend forever.

  5. tridentboy3

They should. Griffin is the primary reason the Clippers are a legit team now and without him they never begin their rise to relevance. Paul never shows up if they don’t draft Griffin.

  6. Yes. Young fans dont know but even before sterling was exiled, Blake being on the team meant they couldn’t be the old Clippers anymore.

He elevated everything having to do with the franchise overnight.

Blake probably wouldn’t even show up if they did . It’s likely F Ballmer for life for how dirty the situation ended up.

  8. lilbonka

Yes, he is the reason I am a life long Clippers fan

  9. TanaTalk3

Easily. He resurrected our franchise and created an entire generation of Clipper fans

  10. TheFundamentalPoint

Absolutely. It’ll be the first hung up in the intuit dome

I mean…. if not for Blake, the clippers would probably still be a consistent bottom feeder, he may have been the #2 guy in Lob City, but he’s arguably the most important piece to its inception and relative success after jt

Man deserves a statue outside Intuit, let alone his jersey retired.

  13. Doongbuggy

he got me back into being a solid clipper fan after floating around awhile as a pistons, bulls and spurs (fundamentals) fan

  14. No_Gas_2755

Absolutely! He’s the reason CP3 agreed to be traded here, kick-starting lob city. And probably the part of the appeal that led to the Ballmer ownership

  15. alexanderknox

Yes yes yes. I’ll be disappointed as a Clippers’ fan if his number is not retired. He deserves it. Nobody brought more light to the franchise.

  16. ykeogh18

Nah. Building a Kia dealership next to the new stadium is enough

Unpopular opinion: Blake Griffin is the most important player of our franchise’s history. He was who every fan came to watch during our prime era of basketball. He actually made our franchise semi-relevant. I remember before he was drafted, the Clippers organization was handing out free tickets like hotcakes, and at times, even paying people to come watch them. Lob city just completely changed everything for us. And it was more enjoyable than whatever we got going on now. Where for some reason, our coach is benching former MVP players. Our star players miss every playoffs because they can’t stay healthy. Dozens of bandwagoners. I miss the old days.

They were literally the worst franchise in all of American sports before Blake and cp would’ve never came if it wasn’t for him

  19. Steve promised him. Make good by that and retire it. The ONLY other jersey that could possibly come before Blake is Ralph #40… but I would still do Blake first for sheer importance. Most important Clipper ever.

  20. mikey_five

No. He didn’t do shit besides average 20. He’s not going to the HOF, and he shouldn’t get his jersey retired either. The first jersey we retire should be the Finals MVP from our first chip.

Fuck yes. The sole reason I started watching the NBA and still do is because of those Blake Griffin Highlights on youtube. I have been a die-hard clippers fan since!
