But seriously…did we ever find out where the rest of the team was? They passed the ball like 5 times before you saw another Spur. They were on a 4-on-2 break and somehow turned it over….but to not recover at all???
Wemby doesn't need the praise of others to become great. He has to perform on the court and take care of his obligations off the court. And he already knows that the motivation comes from within.
..we are getting spoiled in the defensive impact/ Wemby effect in regular games.. time to let player vote on DPOY instead of media😅 or both..either way DPOY is rules needs update! …agree on adding another physical mobile center!

Just look at the history of the league. He is a good individual defensive stat stuffer. He isn't the engine that makes a defense elite. Your contribution to team defense and how it translates to wins has been the standard for as long as you've been alive. If Wemby gets DPOY for individual stats on a losing team, then you have to go back and award every defensive statistical leader on a losing team with the DPOY award that was stolen from them.
Just do a tiny bit of Googling. You don't even have to go beyond Wemby's own team's history. David Robinson had a better offensive and defensive rookie season compared to Wemby statistically, and he elevated a losing team into a winning team.
Robinson's first year, he joined a 21 win Spurs and outperformed Wemby in pretty much every statistical category except 3pt shooting. They finished with 56 wins. His defensive and offensive stats were better than Dennis Rodman's. But Dennis Rodman was the best defender on the Pistons who won 59 games. Pistons Def Rating was 2nd. Spurs Def Rating was 3rd.
Dennis Rodman won DPOY because his team was a little better defensively and won 3 more games. Wemby's team is straight garbage. There should be no consideration whatsoever for him winning DPOY. It would be unfair to all the rookies of the past who had better defensive seasons than Wemby statistically and all the rookies who may not have had better stats but helped their team be better than his was with their defense.
What really needs to happen is that media heads and former players in the social media click bait era need to provide context when they throw stats in front of normies.
Every other DPOY won the award under the same standards as the one prior. For Wemby to win, he would be winning it based on new standards of raw stats just to create the narrative of him being the first rookie DPOY. I don't see how anyone can honestly think that that's reasonable.
In a competition, the standards need to be set in stone. If you stray from the established standard now, then you open the flood gates, and all future and past award winners become illegitimate because they won based on subjective standards of that year's voters. One year it'll go to a player on the best team. The next year it'll go to a player on the best defensive team. The next year it'll go to a player on the worst team who has the best stats. No one will ever enter a season knowing what they need to do to be considered for an award.
In the history of the award, no player has ever been awarded DPOY with WS below 5.4. Wemby's WS (Win Shares) are 3.7. They intentionally don't point these things out to normies because they want to use your lack of knowledge of how the awards races are judged to trick you into helping them justify giving the award to whomever they want to have it. This type of bs ruins all debates about who's better.
