Spurs are not interested in Trae Young. He’s a liability on defense.
I like young, but he is going to HAVE to improve his defense to come to the spurs and more importantly manifest these comments he’s making to the media to STAY on a spurs roster. He’s worth the gamble though!
If they add Trae, it will be imperative to find a top notch three and D guy similar to what Klay Thompson was for the warriors.
If PATFO thinks Trae’s game is the future, we might as well draft Rob Dillingham who has a very similar skillset. Personally, I don’t mind Trae as long as the cost is only their picks. If we can squeeze them to keep that ‘25 pick, even better. The thing is, we have full leverage on the Hawks. Even if they trade him somewhere else, they are sure to be worse when that happens which catapults our chances on some juicy picks next year, not to mention the Raptors pick that we may end up not getting this year, but next year. I’m okay with staying patient next season, then cashing in after the ‘25 draft.

what kinda contract do you think D. White will get at the end of his contract. I suspect somewhere north of 30 mil per year. Probably closer to 34 per year on a 3 yr minimum contract. Do you think Celtics can make that offer?

CLAN the Spurs fans don’t understand that his lack of defense makes up on the offensive side. Defense is a team effort. We can make this work. It is a win with Trae and we need 2 more defensive mindset players and that’s all we need to compensate
6:25 it's not the case, Spurs roster already have the worst defender of the league: Malaki Branham. Trae Young would be the same on D, with so much more upside on the other side. But playing both at the same time would be a christmas gift for the other team.
Also in 2 years Malaki didn't improve at all his D (it was better only when Wemby was here to cover his a..) Spurs need to trade or get rid of Branham.
Wemby covers any defensive issues Trae has. Wemby is a whole All Defensive team.
Tony was a better defender to me. He had his moments where he was a harasser
I'd love to get the 7ft Frenchman in this draft to be a rim defender when Wemby is off the court.
Young is only 25 years old, that's why getting him wouldn't be skipping steps. He would be an integral part of the long term project. Skipping steps means getting players that are older and in a must-win-now situation.

It's a deflection tactic. The Spurs aren't going to show their hand before it's time to wheel and deal. If they're too excited… the Hawks asking price will be too high. It obviously was too high during the trade deadline.
