defense is all effort i can be taught but only matters and translates when you put in effort
i wouldnt consider this a key to them winning since typically defense should be expected from everyone on the court. If You can't defend you won't win and thats true for everyone, including luka. I still think the key is production from the mavs role players. game 2 it was PJ. If someone can cook a little off the bench the series is over. Luka's defense was definitely crucial, but its not the key to winning, its just the key to prevent them from definitely losing. The defense allows the game to at least be close. Kyrie knows this too, and was playing aggressive defense all game.

The key to this is a better playing Kawhi, like during their 26win in31 games run. Rusty Kawhi is devastating. At least 2 stars in Kawhi, Harden and PG need to show up to counter Luka and Kyrie

Mavs have been #1 Defense in the leave the last 18games and in the top 5 after all star break . Yall gotta face the fact that this is the new identity. I know mavs and defense usually don’t go in the same sentence but .. I’m even shock it’s happening even as a fan . Not even being bias .
The bottom line is Jason Kidd strategy in game 1 was not good. The funneling did not work. Luka is always gonna have help on the back side but his effort level has to be better on defense. In game 2 it was and we're so much better when the effort on defense is there. Like the video mentioned, players really get excited when they see Luka 1on1 but when he's competing – its not as easy as they think. It actually will bait a lot of defenders into isolation shots.
He better get some defensive badges on 2k.. brick wall and off-ball pest maybe menace. Not the 🗜️ though not yet
