  1. I’ve been talking about signing Monk to a 2 year deal with a player option for the second year for almost the entire season. I even called I. A few times and mentioned this. If Monk stays here for one more year, the kings get high Bird rights. This is huge because we can dip into the luxury tax to pay Monk a larger salary without taking as much of hit in the luxury tax because of his Bird rights which allow the team to retain a player by going into the luxury tax without the team being taxed. It’s a solid deal for Monk. He stays on the competitive team that actually gave him enough of a chance to show the entire league who he is, and he gets a huge pay day next season.
