Brooklyn Nets Hire Juwan Howard and Steve Hetzel, plus Kevin Durant’s Suns go down

The Brooklyn Nets made a couple of key assistant coach hires that begin to show the staff direction under Jordi Fernandez. They bring in Juwan Howard and Steve Hetzel as top guys. The Locked on Nets crew takes a look at both Howards and Hetzel’s backgrounds and what it means for the team.

Plus, they do a quick post-mortem on Kevin Durant and the Suns after Phoenix is eliminated from the playoffs in a sweep by the Timberwolves.

  1. The Suns picks that Brooklyn has doesn't guarantee them top lottery draft picks but they do become important "currency" in this new CBA era where first round draft picks are super valuable and if the Suns do break up their trio sooner than later, the picks grow in value and other teams could be interested in them….

  2. Now I did hear a lot of chatter today that if KD asks out again and eventually gets traded Devin Booker could follow….

Now while acquiring Booker could give Brooklyn a top notch scorer and reunite him with the Twins ( Bridges and Johnson), Brooklyn needs to carefully think about that….

Booker is making $40+ million in salary which could hinder Brooklyn's future cap space and he showed this past season he's not a point guard and having him with Thomas would put Brooklyn in the same position of needing to get a point guard as well….

Ultimately there are some big pros and cons when it comes to Booker so hopefully Brooklyn evaluates all their options this summer….

  3. As much as we have criticized Sean Marks for some very questionable decisions, this blockbuster trade with KD probably couldn't have gone better for Brooklyn considering he cleaned the Suns out of their remaining draft picks (5) and already utilized one of them to draft Noah Clowney 🔥….

Now the Suns are experiencing the "consequences" of being over the second apron luxury tax which prevents them from making many improvements and could lead to a massive breakup of their trio sooner than later….

  4. Wanted to propose this idea to everyone….

Considering the Suns are very desperate to make some kind of improvement to their team Brooklyn might want to go for the "trifecta" and try to get the Sun's last remaining asset for this upcoming 2024 draft in their 22nd pick 😮…..

Sean Marks has hinted about wanting to get involved in the draft and gritty defensive specialist Dorian Finney Smith could be in trade talks leading up to the draft….

Doe could the exact lock down defender the Suns badly need and Brooklyn could try to create a swap or 3 team trade where the Suns send out Nurcic to a third team, Doe goes to the Suns and the Nets end up with an expiring salary piece and the 22nd pick in the draft 🔥…

If Brooklyn was able to have the 22nd pick, the hypothetical Zach Edey talks could potentially become reality 🤔….

  5. It’s honestly just kind of comforting to see another team other than the Pistons that are in worst spot than Brooklyn. Phoenix is done for the next 6 years😂. No draft picks 1st or 2nd rounds until 2030, they’re stuck with Beal’s horrible contract and KD finna leave again😂. It is virtually impossible to build a contender with the Suns as it stands now. AND they’re not letting Booker go easily without him requesting a trade most likely. Beautiful thing to see

  6. We're in a great position right now. Not only could we potentially get a Star over the summer. We can possibly get a lottery pick in 2025 draft
