Coach Kidd says he’ll continue to live with James Harden’s floaters and still wants to continue taking away his three-pointers.

statistically it’s not a bad decision

That’s fine. I’ll take consistent James harden floaters all day. Its a good offensive rebound opportunity, and easy shot to generate in one on one after getting a big to switch on him

i wouldnt take this too seriously he could just be lying. but if it’s true (which is likely because we’re talking about jason kidd here) we won lol

Bold of him to assume Harden won’t shoot those at 90%

This is just stupid coaching. A floater has the higher chance of going in. Let’s not ignore the fact Harden is one of the greatest scorers of our generation. So why give him an easier shot to build a rhythm? Once shots start falling they all start falling.

Probably the worst thing you can do with Harden. When he’s only looking for 3’s he is crazy streaky. If his stepbacks aren’t going in you’ll see him go 0/6 from 3 in a game easy. And when they are going in the 30% of the time he’s really hot then a defense, let alone the Mavs defense, isn’t going to stop him.

His midrange game and floaters have always been so reliable and as a fan it was frustrating knowing he had that but didn’t go to it and forcing threes instead. Forcing him into the most underrated aspect of his game and letting him be a distributor is gonna cost the Mavs the series.

Actually, who knows if he is telling the truth. If he is then it does not mean he plans to implement the same defensive strategy. All that means is if they have a choice they are more willing to give up the floater. I find it hard to believe that he would implement the same strategy in the 4th quarter tomorrow. Thats a wide open James Harden floater and should not be in any one’s Game Plan if they are looking to win.

  9. this was the strategy for teams playing Houston as well – his floater was the lower expected value shot between the layup, lob , floater, and the jumper.

As a Mavs man I hate this coach and I want him fired. He is fucking delusional and trash.

  11. CP3sHamstring

All of his 3s are heavily contested anyway. What does he think he can do to stop them if Harden wants to take them lol

  12. Adorable-Physics-782

This is a good strategy honestly.

  13. Modern NBA, the best shot is the 3 pointer. Every other shot that isn’t a layup or dunk is a bad shot. UNLESS your shot is unblockable and can convert at a 90% clip.

  14. -Darkslayer

Why would he do this? Harden is literally shooting 100% on floaters 😂

  15. Same here. I’d rather Harden be aggressive than settle for threes. We have plenty of shooters. Let him see a couple shots go down.

it’s JKidd, this is just tactics

In this series, he’s been frying the mavs from three so this kinda makes sense, they’ll probably help more of the corners in the next game though

  18. Or and hear me out. You could adjust throughout the game like a coach should do
