Bickley Blast: Why are the Phoenix Suns being so elusive?

The Phoenix Suns held a press conference Wednesday for owner Mat Ishbia and general manager James Jones, and Dan Bickley can’t help but ponder why the organization is being so elusive about tabout the future of head coach Frank Vogel.

  1. These press conferences just showed that Ishbia is tone deaf and has no idea what he’s doing. He has good intentions but is way too involved in basketball operations and suggesting the Suns are in a great spot and fans should basically be grateful for 49 wins after being swept in the first round is just way out of touch and not rooted in reality.

  2. That press conference was embarrassing. Talk about gaslighting your fans ! It was absurd. This is why the NBA is dying – entitled players who don’t want to play defense & tune out their defensive oriented coach.

  3. He says it’s his job to set the record straight, then doesn’t set the record straight? I think the greatest point that Bickley made was… “Why the hell are you having a press conference if you have nothing to say, or will say nothing?”

  4. It seems like they can’t handle criticism. A billionaire who can’t be fired should be above that. I just want to know what their plan is. What is the plan? What is the team mantra? If everyone did so great why are all the fans unhappy? It’s a little insulting. They want our money, right?

  5. Its simple, they learned that firing Monty without having a clear plan on who to hire was a mistake. They aren't just going to react immediately and emotionally like fans. Evaluate your options, you have 5 months.

  6. “Steph Curry is the face of the franchise, and that helps me out, because I don't have to,” he said. “I don't want to have to be the leader. I'm not a leader. I'm bad at saying, ‘Stand behind me and follow me.’ No. I'm one of those guys that's just like, ‘Let's do this shit together." – Kevin Durant in 2017 (GQ Magazine)

  7. I'm glad the ESPN host feels the same way us non Booker stans feel.. Because when it becomes to yalls beloved Book its not on him

  8. The "PG" we have can't handle high pressure situations aka- playoffs. Neither can Book or KD. This team and organization are not all on the same page.. You got Frank saying he's got Ishbia support and then Matt doesn't say he's back next year in the presser.. What a fiasco.

  9. Play the part about how later he said KD isn’t going to ever be happy because all time greats never are that’s what makes them all time greats they chase greatness

  10. Felt that this press conference fell flat. How can you truly believe that this was a great season? Getting dominated in the first round by a team that you owned in the regular season should prove that it wasn't. I think it's just a matter of taking some time to let things cool so that the best decision can be made.

I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but every time I hear Ishbia speak I get exhausted. It's almost like he speaks just to speak. It should be more of JJ speaking than him. He doesn't know what's going on so why would he speak? For as much as Ishbia preaches about being connected and building that type of environment, doesn't seem that is happening within the organization yet. Seems like a lot of rash, hurried decisions rather than taking the time to thoughtfully plan out a more methodical approach to establishing a championship contender.

  11. It's because Pass the Lemon season is in June and the Suns aren't the only team sitting on the couch right now faced with hard choices. Best not to tip your hand until you know the lay of the land.

  12. If they move on from Vogul it'll be cus of x and o's not voice. This big three has always followed their coaches' game plan whether they like it or not. Point blank, they need an inventive coach to come up with a system that creates opportunities instead of relying on isos and a Draymond Green type to slot in the 4, play make, guard, add toughness, ruffle feathers and allow for a bunch of different lineups by guarding 3-5 at least. A vet pg off the bench after that, and better athleticism too. But the big three are gonna have to take on responsibilities they're not used to if they want to win. Its what campions do. Between catch and shooting 3s, rebounding and interior defense from KD, ball handling, and playmaking, JJ's right. There's not a whole lot they need to add to this team.

  13. im glad i got off social media the first couple days after the suns got swept. this guy sounds just like alex jones. and thats not a good thing.

  14. I hope they are asking for a trade. Worst thing imaginable is the same team coming back next season.

  15. All 49 win teams are not the same, this seasons was infuriating and made me angry watching. I would much rather have inferior players that are likable.

  16. Having 4 SG and no PG plus lacking depth at the other positions is the biggest red flag.

Damn we all play 2K and we know to at least have 2 of each position on your team in franchise mode 😂
