I would pass on Russell. If the Spurs are going for a PG in free agency, Tyus Jones would be better option than Russell and probably cheaper. Less PPG than Russell but similar FG% and 3pt%. Plus Tyus is not unprofessional.

I'd take Chris Paul on the cheap if they don't go after a high-profile PG. You either get Dillingham and let Tre continue to start… or you'd get rid of Tre and let Paul take the helm. Or get Tyus to start and Tre to back up and draft a big.
In Russell's defense he was traded for Brook Lopez, Kevin Durant (Russell was a sign and trade, so BRK really wanted him), then Andrew Wiggins, and Russel Westbrook. It's like Chris Paul, he has been a tradable piece. Also, 5 games against the Nuggets will probably bring your stats down. He did hit a clutch 3 pointer in the play-in game against the pelicans and was a +26 in the last game of the season the lead the Lakers being 7th seed instead of the 10th. He seems to be a bad one on one defender, but a good team defender/coordinator. That being said, since he wants a raise and a long term deal, he probably isn't the best fit for the Spurs. Plus if the Spurs draft a point guard this year, he would just be in the way. I wouldn't break the bank on him, but if the Spurs could get him at the right price, he might be worth it.
D-No is a no go. He's inconsistent but I'd take him over Klay any day. Me saying that does not mean I want him playing for the Spurs in the least.
He's not great defensively at all. He sits around at the 3 point line swiping and getting blown by. He gives up way too easy. Add his unconcerned phone opposed to huddle mentality. It's not looking good for Mr. Russell whenever he's shipped away in a trade package.
