It basically boils down to the fact that there are 5 teams with significant cap space going into the summer: Detroit, Spurs, Jazz, Magic, and Thunder. Since the salary floor changes means hoarding cap space is a negative outcome, those 5 teams have to spend on SOMEBODY, even if it’s a mediocre player like Harris. So either the Thunder spend their cap space on re-upping Joe and Wiggins and maybe taking a salary dump for assets, or they spend on free agents who are role players at most.
