Ant’s off to a good start. Let’s see him actually win now though. He has a great team around him and is clearly motivated. He is interesting in the sense his personality is way different though.

Ants great and is playing great. His game does have a bit of MJ, and so has a lot of other players. Hopefully he lives up to it

Ant is funnier but has zero rings. MJ is fiercer and has six rings. I would say that each has a personality that is bigger and more self-assured than most NBA players. But I would be friends with either one or both. Everyone is looking for the next big thing but it don’t matter in the end. It’s what they do or did on the court that matters.

If he wins 6 titles in 7 seasons of play then I’d be open to it.

I think it’s a bit too much, especially since ANT still has to climb the mountain and win a title but I can definitely see the similarities which even old players can’t help but remark on the similarity in playstyle. Regardless, I undeniably love watching him. He’s plays at the highest level, is fun to watch, and has a great attitude/personality. With the Bulls being stuck in purgatory and my favorite players like Kawhi fading away, I’m rooting for him this season.

  6. Ant’s my favorite player in the league atm but he ain’t MJ and that’s ok

He’s the closest we have to it today. Would love to see him start winning some rings

Ant is a dawg. That’s all I’m saying. An absolute monster. If he wasn’t getting double teamed most of the game it would be a crime scene

It’ll be a fun conversation after 5 titles?

Fine. He is an athletic 2 guard with some competitiveness and a good overall scoring package. They are always going to be compared to MJ. Kobe didn’t end up being the player MJ was, I doubt Ant will. But Kobe was great, and I expect Ant to be great.

He definitely seems like someone who could end up somewhere in the Kobe/Wade tier as far as All-Time shooting guards are concerned.

His potential is crazy when you consider that this season he’s about as old as Dwayne Wade was as a rookie.

So, he’s definitely got time to improve and get some awards/accolades/accomplishments (barring injuries or something).

He definitely has the same build as MJ, though: really long arms, about 6’4″-6’6″, strong, top-tier athleticism from a speed, explosiveness and jumping standpoint.

And they have similar looking shot-mechanics and like their hesi/cross dribble pull-ups from the mid-range.

I don’t know if he can quite palm the ball like Jordan, though. That was one of MJ’s biggest advantages. And pretty much what separates him from almost all guards in general. I think it’s also why Kawhi was such a nuisance and also got a lot of comparisons.

Having control over the ball like that is such a ridiculous advantage in basketball. It gives you access to another level in terms of expanding your bag with fakes and palming layups/dunks.

But Ant’s ball control and hands still seem solid. His handles are progressing and he’s getting better about probing defenses. And I could easily see him getting some All-Defense nods if he continues to be a dog on defense.

If his mid-range ever becomes near-automatic or he can consistently hover above 38% from three (mostly just in the playoffs) while improving his passing and decision-making steadily enough, he will be a real problem once he reaches his prime. He also kind of needs to add better footwork when he’s posting and/or improve his handles and IQ. Not that he’s bad in that regard. He’s really good for his age. But he has to get better about that stuff if he’s going to approach Wade or Kobe.

But he does look a lot like MJ when he plays and the comparison does make sense in the way that Kawhi and Butler are also compared to MJ. They all fit a similar archetype.

I can see it. I think it’s the charisma as much as it’s anything. The league is looking desperately for an American born bonafide star that can be commercialized. Ant seems to have the skill and the intangibles to be crowned the next big American star

    I laugh.

Too early, but I don’t know why everyone needs to be compared to someone else. Let him be awesome in his own way

You know what’s crazy…. I think Jordan is still more athletic than ant.like when you see the highlight for highlight comparison… Jordan is just more explosive. I think it’s become under rated of what kind of athletic specimen Jordan truly was.

I think ant has the same sort of attack personality. He wants to crush you to your face, on both sides of the court….

It’s too soon to really say. He’s playing incredible. I was not a believer before the season, he’s changed my mind with his play this season. Incredible last night, we’ll just have to see how it goes from here.

  17. OccidoViper

Obviously he is not as good but the way he moves on the court is similar to MJ sometimes
