Miami Heat: How will the Jimmy Butler situation play out? | Five on the Floor

A day after the Pat Riley press conference raised more alarms, Ethan Skolnick and Greg Sylvander evaluate the chances of four possible outcomes for Jimmy Butler’s future with the Miami Heat. And they don’t agree on which is most likely — or whether Butler would opt out in a season if he doesn’t get an extension.

  1. Ethan, when are you going to put Brady on the INTRO. He is a very big part to your show? And he is very good, and knows basketball very well?

  2. You can't enforce games played contractually other than making concession in it for you to meet minimum games for him to get the remainder of his money, however the best thing you can do is to temper the extension based on past experience. What will end up happening is you put he has to hit 70 games as example for him to get the remainder of his max as bonus hell hit that mark but playing half azzed, his body can't play like that anymore. They need to come to terms like you won't play more than 60 but you coast for 20 of them, so essentially we prorate his salary knowing that. If 56M top tier we need to cut you down 30% say a flat 38M for an extension.

  3. The word availability was never brought up until this year After they got embarrassed in the first round. You say you want him to try harder in regular season games? But last season you said when Jimmy was averaging. 26-27 points a game and shooting 60% from the field after the all star break that he shouldn't have to do that. You said Tyler, Bam,and others should be stepping up more So there's not so much of a burden on jimmy in february and march. All we heard including jimmy before the season started was how much of a leap tyler and bam we're going to take.

  4. You're qafter the overtime game against Orlando last year When they didn't put good pieces around jimmy, 'That's not his mother effing problem " But now let's blame him for missing a game in November.qoute

  5. Jimmy needs to go. It’s time. He’s done great things for Miami but let’s not pretend Miami hasn’t been good for Jimmy. His image has been repaired by being in Miami. These 2 parties needed each other. The reality now is he’s 35, habitually injured and you have another guy entering his prime, he deserves for the table to be set for his success. Get Jimmy to Philly for some picks.

  6. I have said this more than once ,only reason l watch the Heat is because of Jimmy Butler, the game when you were supposed to wear the jersey of the player , seen more no. 22 than anyone else, Jimmy has the mental toughness that you don't get from other players, I would rather see them go after Allen from Cleveland than Mitchell, how long do you think Bam can go like this without a significant injury lets be real ,although Bam isn't aggressive enough, geez he had Horford down low , could have went at him all night long ,they have Terry, go after a fringe player White outplayed Tatum and Mitchell in the first game of that series, and they gave Josh Richardson and another guy,fir him,Cleveland played better when Mitchell was out this year, my other take is Minnesota and Dallas this far in the playoffs this year without there surrounding players they aquired or playing with Ant and Doncic scoring their 40 every night , l personally don't think so,
