So happy for him. Just wish this apex of his could’ve happened with us…

Should have 6 Dpoy smh. Cant believe Smart won one

  3. Ok_Seaworthiness2218

Was one of the most overhated players for a long time.

  4. Hope he continues to win (if deserved), feels like he’ll lose votes going forward as it’ll mean he owns the record for most DPOYs

  5. robograndpa

Smart and the Boston media mafia robbed him

  6. Phenomenal2313

He’s going to win at the minimum 2 more DPOY’s

That puts him at 6 , which I dont think anybody can break

Sidebar to this, but I always find it nutty that Ben Wallace won four DPOYs, and I believe they were consecutive too. Won one with the Bulls even, when he was on the decline. Just insane how he managed to do that as an undersized big in an era that really valued size and rebounding.

I wonder how Dikembe would be treated by modern NBA. He only averaged over 15 points 1 season and was a defensive focused player like Rudy.

  9. elgarraz

Olajuwon only having 2 DPOYs is a minor travesty.

Jesus Christ I am not ready for how toxic the DPOY debate will be next year when Gobert once again anchor the best D in the league and Wemby pulls the Spurs up to like league average while getting insane amounts of blocks. Will be ready to get in the trenches for my guy though.

Wemby will get it until they are tired of giving it to him. Should have gotten it this year.

  12. Black_wolf_disease

Shoulda had 2017 and 2022 as well but that’s another story for another day

He deserves it. I grew up as a Nuggets fan in the 1990s with a “Mount Mutombo 5,287 feet” poster on my bedroom wall.

And Gobert/Wallace/AD are the closest defensive forces I’ve seen to Mutombo since then.

  14. deadzsteve

Better hope Wemby plays less than 60 games going forward then lol

  15. alta_vista49

Wemby wins it every year from now through the next decade minimum

Why can’t we have an all French spurs team?

Who would be the starting five at the moment?

  17. If the Wolves win it all, does he enter the conversation of the best rim protector in the history of the game?

  18. torexmus

I remember a time when some nba players and a lot of fans thought his defence was overrated. Twolves have at least a couple of guys that have turned the narrative about them around this season. Makes them easy to cheer for

  19. AccidentallyHidden

You could say that he’s addicted to winning the DPOY
