Jayson Tatum coasting vs. Cavs hurts him for tougher opponents, Luka’s Game 1 struggles | THE HERD

The Boston Celtics coasted through the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 1 120-95. However, Jayson Tatum finished with 18 points, off 7-of-19 shooting (0-for-5 from 3). Colin Cowherd reacts to the Celtics win, then explains why Tatum’s quiet night is not necessarily the best sign if they move on and face tougher opponents. After eliminating the LA Clippers, the Dallas Mavericks came up short in their 117-95 Game 1 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Luka Dončić finished with 19 points off 6-of-19 shooting and just 1-of-8 from behind the arc. Colin reacts to Luka’s early struggles against OKC.

  1. This take is horrible…tatum over Luka. I'm not a Dallas fan… but this isn't right at all

  2. Put Luka on Boston over the years they have Championships. Luka is injured. When he is healthy he is an all time playoff player. This is a bad take Collin. What help has Luka had over the years?

  3. My god you literally had two points and just repeated them 15 times for 8 minutes, thats just not good content

  4. @theherdonFS1 Can someone please tell Colin it's "lop sided"

    lop·sid·ed [ˈläpˌsīdəd]

    adjective

    lopsided (adjective) · lop-sided (adjective)

with one side lower or smaller than the other:

    "a lopsided grin"

disproportionately weighted in favor of one side over another:

    "a lopsided competition"

  5. Tatum is averaging the most rebounds, assists, and rebounds for the Celtics. He's just not forcing shooting the ball when he's getting double or triple teamed.

  6. Usage doesn't measure how much the ball is in a player's hand. Touches and time of possession are much better indicators…still, Luka is top ranked in all 3 categories.

  7. To me Colin Cowherd used to be a reputable sports commentator but you sir are the definition of a BOOT LICKER. Tatum ain't coasting he's playing and taking "picking his spots" to what the defense gives him. I guess just talking out your a$$ makes you a professional commentator lol

  8. You wont see JT have to really try until the finals, the knicks dont have Mitchell Robinson now Boston is very likely to have KP back for that series, in all honesty, they're probably going to annihilate the Knicks who are going to be gassed after the pacers series.

Tatum is doing what he set out to do this season, hes sacrificing to win a championship, he dont care about no scoring awards or stats, hes gonna play defense hard, make the easy pass when hes doubles, rebounds like a grown man and when teams sag off on defense hes going to light them up.

  9. Just from the title I can tell Colin isnt watching the Celtics, but still gonna give us his poorly considered but confidently communicated opinion

  10. The Celtics have only played 6 playoff games and they’ve won 4 by over 20 points. The only game they lost the Heat went nuts and made 23 3’s on over 50% shooting. Tatum hasn’t taken over a game because they haven’t needed him to. The Celtics haven’t even kicked it up to playoff level effort yet if you actually watch the games. It still feels like regular season. Really hoping the Knicks can at least challenge them.

  11. SGA’s numbers are down argument was straight trash 😂. His team is so good that he doesn’t need to average what he averaged in the regular season.

  12. lol cruising. Dude is playing elite defense and drawing doubles and making the right play and finding the open man. Yea his shot has been off but it'll come right back. How do the guys get paid to analyze sports. Is Tatum having his best lately no but he's been really good and not being selfish. Hes smart and that's why he's likely gonna get a chip or at least the finals

  13. I don’t understand how Tatum who has dropped 45 and 50 point games in conference finals while providing elite defense is considered a question mark over Jalen Brunson who’s had high scoring games in the 1st and 2nd round. What has Brunson proven? Did we not see Booker do even better last yr. Is Brunson playing defense on the level of Tatum?

  14. This is Tatum hitting another level. In years past, he would try and shoot out of a slump and end up with tons of turnovers. He is taking care of the ball and rebounding on a high level. We already know he has the scoring abilit, its like he's becoming the perfect player.

  15. Tatum reminds me of Paul George honestly. No holes in his game regularly the best player on his team but usually defers to the other guys on his team instead of inserting himself. PG was the best player in OkC but he deferred to Russ. He has been best player on the clippers for his entire time playing there cuz whether yall want to believe it or not Kwai has not been healthy or close to his regular self in LA but he deferred to Harden and Kwai and I think that’s y he is so inconsistent is cuz he plays so passively that when he does play aggressive he is forcing instead of letting things happen naturally.

  16. Tatum doesn't cruise at all. Cruising is Ben Simmons. The only thing I have a problem with Tatum is the Kobe stuff. Not the homaging, which is actually in good taste, the fact that he has to get his mind there to be top tier level. Jordan, Bird, and Kobe just had it naturally in them, even Kobe who super idolized Jordan. Tatum is elite right now.

  17. Tatum had a relationship with Kobe. So what? He’s about as Kobe as the last guy on the bench. He’s good. But he doesn’t enforce his will on a game like Kobe.

  18. Everytime he got the ball he had 10 eyes on him and all 5 guys moving towards him .. this team is built to beat that, and they are. Ofc his numbers dip but that's what happens when your double and triple covered

  19. What happened to the Kobe mentality in the finals against golden state or last year against Miami? When things aren’t easy Tatum disappears
