Like the NFL, the NBA should have an OFFENSIVE Player of the Year award along w/ the MVP. So this year obviously Luka would have won the OPOY whereas the criteria for the MVP (best [most impactful] player on best team) could go to guys that play 2-way or just are overall dominant on the top 1-2 seeded teams.

You can tell from Ernie's facial reaction that he wasn't amused that Shaq had to bring up the the MVP debate again. 😅 It's like a dad in a meeting with grown ups and having a kid butting in the conversation.

It’s like Shaq thinks the voters coordinate with eachother before voting. No matter how close it is, they have to somehow rank the players. So maybe Joker was better than SGA just by a little bit for a lot of voters. That doesn’t mean they’re gonna give SGA more 1st place votes out of pity. He got the most 2nd place votes because people think he was the 2nd best player.
Cmon Shaq its not that hard

Shaq isn't wrong though. SGA should have won the award.
So "baddest mf in the NBA" is kind of completely an arbitrary eye-test metric so I decided to look at the facts. Jokic has the most winshares in the NBA (MVP is basically a winshare award) which means out of any player, he adds the most wins to his team. Shai has 14.6, Jokic has 17. He also has more winshares/48 meaning he wins more with the same amount of minutes.
He has the highest BPM meaning he creates the largest point differential in the NBA. (both causing less points to go in for the other team while contributing more points to his team compared to Shai.)
Season wise, Nuggets fell off pretty hard from last year and he's somewhat the sole reason they even tied for first place in western conference standings, wherein Thunder got massively better compared to last season.

Why does having more MVPs than great players from the past have to imply that they are greater?? We all agree that the game is much different now, just bc a guy has 3 MVPs in recent years doesn't mean he would've won them if he played in a different era, i feel like most fans know that so why is it such an outrage that Jokic has 3 MVPs but (insert name) doesn't?
