Looking back at those years, it’s actually shocking how highly rated Ariza was compared to Artest. Knuckleheaded plays aside like that quick 3 (I thought the mid range shot was fine), he made massive contributions during the playoffs despite suboptimal decision-making and shooting on offense. Yet during those years I remember a lot of discussion was about what if Ariza had resigned and how the Lakers would have been a far better team with him instead of Artest. Looking back I have to say, I have doubts on whether the Lakers would have won in 2010 with Ariza instead of Artest.
