Odd trade from what we know right now. Itâs sad not to get anything (of significance) back for Ivey. We may have gotten worse at shooting without getting any better defensively. But maybe thereâs another real move that happens here and makes it make sense.

I feel for JI. The guy has had bad luck from the beginning. Cade gets hurt his rookie year. Had to deal with Monty playing Killian over him in year 2. Played great in the first half of year 3 to have it derailed by a freakish injury. Hope he is able to find consistency moving forward, whether that is in Chicago or somewhere else.

Iveyâs tools were never the problem; coaches loved the straightâline burst and his ability to get two feet in the paint on demand. But by year three he still wasnât consistently organized in halfâcourt sets, blew weakâside rotations, and freelanced offâball in ways that killed spacing and timing next to Cade. He watched many, many games from the bench while recovering….and he still did not know what he was doing out there or where he was supposed to be.
