  1. It’s good to hear someone like Stein talk about what really came back in the AD trade. They got cap flexibility but no real draft capital or players to pair with Cooper. And as Stein just noted, it feels like players aren’t even bothering with free agency.

It feels more like the FO caved to fans as opposed to truly trading to build around Cooper.

  2. The problem with the nba is the salary contract rules. 60 million dollars to an old injury prone player is nonsensical. Also the over all talent level is effectively lower because there are too many teams.

  3. Give the play in teams that don’t make the playoffs the best odds in the draft. At least in theory they are trying to win games. Why reward the worst teams? Especially the recurring offenders. Plus if you have a play in team you’re probably one good pick away from a solid playoff team. No reward for mismanagement of your franchise.

  4. Here’s the solution to tanking : only allow drafted rookies to be on a team for three years. after which, they become unrestricted free agents.

  5. How is Dallas not a contender with Kyrie healthy?

They replaced Luka with Coop and Max. They still have the entire finals team plus Naji & Klay.

    Kyrie- Williams
    Max- Klay
    Coop- Martin
    Naji- PJ
    Gaff- Lively

How is this not an awesome contender if Kyrie is healthy and even half of the player he’s said to be? If Coops already a top 10-20 like people say, again, how is this anything close to a rebuild team??

Luka had legitimate G league bums 90% of his first 6 years. Coop has awesome role players ready to win and it’s a full blown rebuild?

How sway? Even replacing Ky with any top 50 PG would have them as a top squad way better talent than the current clippers suns warriors kings jazz grizzlies. Solid team next year at worst or Kidd is straight garbage.

  6. As a Mavs fan I can’t wait to see what AD looks like on the Wizards’

    bench

  7. Lmao @ Adam. Nuggets didn't make a big move="the trade deadl8ne was boring. No contender made moves for this season, just for the future"
CLE, MIN, DET, BOS, NYK, OKC, GSW ALL added players who will have impact in playoffs. Look at the rest of the picture bro.

  8. The NBA wants teams to tank because it gives fans of bad teams the illusion that they can immediately become good teams with the luck of the ping pong balls. The reality is the draft lottery has always appeared to be rigged, whether it is or not. There are ways of fixing the draft but the NBA doesn't want to fix it. If they did, the NBA draft would simply rotate on a snake, where a team that gets the #1 pick one year gets the #30 pick the next season, regardless of their record. #2 gets #29 the next year, and so on. That eliminates any incentive to tank.

  9. Here's a thought; Don't give the best draft lottery odds to the last place team. Give the best odds to the 4th worst team, then the 3rd, then the second. Give the worst team the 4th best odds. And make the difference significant. Then everyone will be fighting to not lose the most.

  10. dude is like one day somebody in the west will be bad. meanwhile w
the mavs, kings, pelicans, warriors, grizzlies, and jazz are on the struggle bus. almost half the conference

  11. The odds need to be flattened even more.. no team should have more then 10-11% of getting the #1 pick

  12. It’s amazing how a GM cemented his place in history as the dumbest GM ever with just one ill advised move. Harrison was applauded for his other moves until February 2025.

  13. If teams need a generational franchise player they’ll only get that player at the top of the draft as teams don’t trade franchise players.

  14. Flip the tanking points after the all star break. Every win now will make the team closer to the top draft. The end of the season will be competitive as hell as contenders will tryhard for better seeding while drafters will tryhard for better draft position.

  15. There are four primary constituents in the NBA … owners, broadcasters, players and fans. Adam Silver prioritises the owners first because they pay his salary, then the broadcasters because thats where the league makes their money, then the players because they are the product, then last and least the fans. That totally sucks and it’s a shame Adam Silver doesnt have the balls to stand up for fans. But the broadcasters are ultimately driven by eyeballs and fans turning off will eventually impact their interest in carrying games.

  16. Flatten lottery odds even more. I do not care, if better teams get better picks. Playing bad should not be incentivized a penny. You can also remove any lottery participation for the two worst teams in each conference. You have to show at least some competitive spirit to get access to the lottery. Make the lottery public, so no one can complain about it. None of the owners is poor, there is no way that they can not improve their team by investing. They just need to be pushed to do something instead of sitting on their a… losing all the time !

  17. Tanking is a problem because of the lottery. If every team had just one ping pong ball, no one would ever tank again. I feel like entitling the weak only keeps them weak, and the high market teams are lazy and don't even try like they should. The Lakers and Knocks have seriously underperformed the last few decades. Let them have some good picks. Small market teams will just have to be better at general management. It's like this. China has an unfairly undervalued currency that gives them an advantage. While China makes every car part for every country, do you see a Chinese car company? No. Because Chinese businesses are making billions each year making parts for others. They play down to competition. It takes too much hard work to develop an image and faith behind a company. It took Hyundai and Kia a decade at least. On the other hand, the USA has a strong currency, which forces USA to develop deeper strategies, which is why USA makes cars and the first smart phone and is at the top of development while China makes the parts. There really isn't any need to change the drafting odds. The high market teams will be lazy as usual and the small market teams will be smarter and develop deeper strategies just to compete.
