Don't downplay what happened last year. It put things into perspective for him. He can't say, "It's okay, I have time, I can be MVP next year or in two years." He doesn't have time to wait because with a body like his, he doesn't know if he can play for three years, five years? Nobody can say, especially in his case. Since he's in a good position, he might as well try to win all the titles this year. Even if it's going to be difficult, he can't afford two more off games, and SGA is still in a good position.

if he plays the necessary amount of games, he absolutely has a case. i would like to see a couple more 30-40 point games to bring his scoring average up. but his defensive impact is so significant. i’m picking the spurs to win the title but if he doesn’t win mvp, that will for sure even fuel him even more.

Why is Shai the presumptive MVP? Who's the player that's in the headlines for the last few months? Who's talked about the most in these post game shows? Who's almost guarenteed to be in the 10 Top Plays of the Night every night he plays? Who pulled his team from irrelevance to contention (yes he does have a great supporting cast, but so does Shai!)? If he meets the games threshold I think Wemby is the MVP 100%
