Shai's MVP case is the same as Derrick Rose's back in the day while LeBron was clearly the best player. He's on an elite defensive team that allows a below avg defender to gamble for steals, while he drives the entire offense. It's a good case IMO.
Of course the difference between the two being one is one of the biggest grifters of all time while the other was the opposite end of the spectrum and one of the most ethical, refusing to flop. Unfortunately ethics isn't a factor.
Spurs were actually really good this year without Wemby, against us and lakers especially, and even now, any given game, the biggest +/- on their team is either Vassel, Castle or Fox. And beside that, their whole team is great defensively. I am not trying to downplay him, he does spearhead his team to another level, and I do place him Jok just right above him this year, but I was thinking the same thing about Wemby as Wind until I watched Spurs without him and started following their stat sheet a little better. It's more that I feel people underestimate the Spurs as team without their main star, and those guys are balling. Doesn't even matter tho, Jok just wants to play his boys for a while now and just forget about that specific race, it seems.
There is the possibility he is not trying as hard because he knows the others need to step up for the team to go deep in the playoffs. Regardless I have zero concern about Jokic in the playoffs. or Murray. The deciding factor of how deep we go will be how well Gordon plays and to a lesser extent CB and Watson. I'd add Cam too but he's been quiet most of the year.

Thanks for this episode. Understanding Jokić’s true greatness is something like the burden of perspicacity. It’s hard to carry. And it’s weird when it’s off kilter.
I love the nuggets and Jokić but cmon man lol
