The Spurs WILL Benefit From THIS!?
Did the San Antonio Spurs actually benefit from their heartbreaking OT loss to the Denver Nuggets on Saturday? After blowing a late lead and falling 136-134 in overtime, this game might’ve revealed more positives than negatives. The Spurs went toe-to-toe with a championship-level team, led most of the night, and got a dominant performance from Victor Wembanyama.

Spurs fans do you agree with my assessment? Thanks for watching and GO SPURS GO!
For those who are upset with d fox , he took a back seat to let Steph develop . He could easily get 25 a night . Plenty of times he’s been clutch for us in the 4th . He had a bad game . I 100% expect him to recover from last game . Dudes a star . He will win us playoff games .
I agree with u 100% this was something our boys needed. The silver lining to this game was that we could have came out flat and been blown out by the Nuggets but our boys fought hard. It came down to a few possessions that could have won us the game. So I’m not worried I know the guys will learn from this loss and we’ll be rdy for them in our house when we play them for the last time this regular season.
The spurs and coaching staff really needs to learn clock management, if your winning in the last 2 minutes stop shooting early in the shot clock, run the effing clock
Fox did screw us big. Hope he will play better but I think Harper should play more
In the comments in your live during the game versus Denver, it seems that everybody forgot that the Spurs were on road for a back-to-back-to-back (three games in less than 88 hours with 2 flights in-between) : the worst one of this season !!!!
In Q4 and OT, almost all players disappeared, especially Stefon Castle with only two points in 17 minutes.
Victor (who didn't play at LA) was almost the only one to carry the Spurs in the Q4 with 12 points.
Everybody is shooting on Fox but he was obliged to be clutch in an OT against a very competitive team who rested the day before at home !!! In the playoff conditions, there are no back-to-back situation and both teams will play the games in the same conditions…
Mitch Johnson also made a very strange choice : Victor and Castle has played the 12 minutes of the Q4 and the 5 minutes of the OT without rest (this is almost the same for the other starters : Vassell, Fox and Champagnie). I am pretty sure that this is voluntary as a prep for the playoffs.
Even in a playoff game, you would rest the starters in the middle of Q4 for at least one or two minutes in order not to finish the game exhausted.
PS : I think that the game against the Sixers will be the last competitive game of the regular season. The other games will be played with the rotation.
First aaron gordon killed us !!!! Why we have no player around 6,8 to 6,10 playing PF or SF and dont talk about kelly mason or bismack
If we go .500 in the last four games, we’re in trouble.
I know the spurs have been amazing, but I definitely think the spurs drop the ball this trade deadline, we have all these players we dont play Kelly olynk, plumlee,Bismarck, why didn't they get a dam athletic stretch big man that could play 4-5,a 6-8 to 6-11 guy,or even last resort a guy like yabellsel, now we have a bunch of guys on roster we can't play in playoffs, and next season we have to consider trading fox for another superstar, 3 guards who cant shoot a 3 off the drilled is allowing defenses to sag off,but this season come on we could of kept all our players that play and added and athletic forward, chapenny and barnes are not going to cut it at power forward in the playoffs
Here is the deal. In this particular game, we went with Fox down the stretch and he was abysmal. Harper had been playing a great game. I am certain that Mitch and crew took notes and in big crunch time in the future, when it really counts, we may lean more into Harper.
I do not CARE this was a win-win situation. If we won, it was another playoff-ish win to boost our confidence into the playoffs, and this loss was another lecture for all the players going into the playoffs.
Can’t wait to see Jacob Tobey sing the national anthem
Fox, Johnson, and Castle went 0-16 from 3. 0 for 16!!! And we still almost won the game. The Spurs will be Fine and Dandy.
The last loss was because of some late mistakes. So yeah best to get that dose early. Those can be corrected which is encouraging. Wemby 40 min a mile high is also encouraging
We need game like this for learn. We are a young team. Denver have a lot of experience. Sorry for my english 😅
Early cheap fouls ultimately played a huge part in this defeat
I think this was a good thing to be honest. The Spurs were coasting hard the past few weeks destroying people. Getting punched in the mouth going into the playoffs is agood thing to get the team back in gear and ready to go for peoples throats.
I am actually more bullish on the Spurs playoff prospects after the loss to Denver. We absolutely needed this to focus the team and set expectations for the quality and intensity for a playoff series.
Denver was really pushing for the W. We went to OT and lost a close one. We have the skill and talent. We need intensity and execution. That game contributed greatly …..
Im afraid that Spurs are going to shrug off the loss and not learn from it. Why? Because its easy to chalk it up to bad shooting and turnovers. I think we are going to see this again in the playoffs. Missed shots, turnovers, and no game plan adaptation
If its a learning experience for anyone, its Mitch. When the fanbase in unison could see Fox struggling late in that game, Mitch definitely needs to see it and pull Fox for Harper. If this team is truly together and wants to win above everything else, then there should be no issue sitting Fox in clutch time. I hope Mitch learned that lesson. Regardless, I agree, Spurs will be better for it and let's enjoy some playoff basketball!
honestly this is the game everyone been asking for and we got its and Yes! this is the great thing for our Spurs as our Spurs are Saiyans as each game is battle to get better and stronger 💪🏽
i fear No One as i Believe in My Spurs
The only reason why the denver won was because that foul Fox made on a shooter. For him to be veteran and react that way under pressure scares me a little. On top of him shooting 5 foot shot instead of driving in for a lay up. Vassel has to catch that ally and Wemby has demand the ball in the clutch way more
I absolutely agreed with you on the matchups take! I don’t wanna avoid certain teams to be on a “easier” bracket to go to the conference finals or even the NBA finals, whether it’s the Nuggets or the Timberwolves (the two team I’m afraid the most in the playoffs), BRING IT ON!! You gotta beat whoever’s in front of you to have the right to call yourself a champion ❤️🔥
Happy Anniversary
What the spurs should be doing next year is either drafting hopefully or getting as a free agent or trade for starting center then they can let Cornett still be the backup center, and then Wemby becomes power forward
Absolutely yes! I personally believe that any loss where you played your best is a learning opportunity. As fans, we can lick our wounds with the fact that if a few of Keldon's corner 3s drop or if Fox has a better game we could have won.
Imagine if they would’ve used their second round pick 2025 a Maxine right now instead a schmuck in the G league
The lost was bad because if lakers finish ahead of denver then denver will see OKC round 2!
1. Trade Wemby: Missed the game winner
2. Trade Fox: Missed 3s, fumbled, missed the layup
3. Fire Mitch: Running with Fox and poor time management!
All jokes aside, it shows that Denver handles pressure A LOT better than us. As good as Spurs can be, we see many times this team crumbles at the crunch time which is expected from young, inexperienced teams do. (I know Fox is a vet, but many of our starters are young and even Fox does not have much playoff experience.) We need to learn from that we do not have to rush when we are chased from behind. We really rush when we are up by only a few points and the team is chasing after us. Yes, better to lose a game now than in a playoff. Hopefully they learn something from this loss.
Damn that was the best game of the season by far! What a matchup between the two Giants the Alien 👽 and the Joker 🃏! Great play by both teams but SHEESH Fox 🦊 really messed up that last play to tie the game.. Fox 🦊 went from clutch player of the year to Brick 🧱 player of the Clutch.
That last lob to Vassell wasn’t the problem.. that’s on Vassell.. it was the missed 8’ shot after that, then the ridiculous foul at the 3 point line in clutch that hurt us. He lost that game for us.
Wemby did nearly everything right..
Wemby missed his final shot in regulation which would have ended the fame right there. Spurs also should have challenged that out of bounds where Jokić and Champagnie hit the ball out..
But Jokić is a True MVP clutch player!! Nobody else can get those shots over Wemby but him.. He owned that game in the final seconds, even though Wemby was right there with him trading buckets. They Both are heavy weights the likes of Hakeem the Dream versus David Robinson, or Tim Duncan versus SHAQ! What an incredible matchup of Two Titans. It was absolute Cinema the entire game!
Not a bad loss though.. our third road game in a row. Spurs have been traveling a lot and are definitely tired.
Harper made that last 3 pointer bringing the score 136-134 last second! We will take it and the #2 seed.. playing either Portland Blazers or Phoenix Suns in round 1… then either Minnesota Timberwolves or LA Lakers in round 2. UNLESS Lakers loose two of the last games, then we have to face Denver in second round. Denver is only ONE game behind LA.. but LA owns the tie breaker after beating Denver 2 games to 1 this season. So Lakers would have to lose One more game for Denver to pass them.
If Denver doesn’t pass LA.. OKC has to play either the LA Clippers or the GS Warriors in round 1… then they have to face either Houston Rockets or likely Denver Nuggets in round 2 before seeing Spurs in the WCF..
Now Denver has Aaron Gordon back and they are so good! Gonna be hard to beat them but OKC and the Spurs both can do it. Bring on the Playoffs!
Finally we have a great Playoff schedule for both the East and the West! Knicks and Philly is going to be a good series.. so is Boston and Charlotte round 1..
Trade fox
Great Stream TSR 🩶 Happy Anniversary on the podcast🏴🏳
We were ahead 95 percent of the game and shot ourselves in the foot heavy especially with that 4 point play. If castle and fox don’t go 0-10 from 3 we easily win this game, this shit don’t worry me a bit and all of media has gone ballistic over it lmao. We the best in the league.
Here is something interesting Spurs have over 120 defensive rating against 3 teams Nuggets, Timberwolves and Knicks. Since February 1st Spurs have a 123.1 offensive rating so it starts on the defensive end with them. When playing the Nuggets you have to make Jokic a scorer Nuggets are the most dangerous when he gets double digit assists. Let Jokic get his points he will regardless what defense you play against him but none of that matter if he do not get his teammates involved.
