Nick Friedell: Bulls’ mess will take years to fix after firings of Arturas Karnisovas, Marc Eversley

On the Rahimi, Harris & Grote Show, Audacy NBA insider Nick Friedell reacted to the Bulls firing executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley on Monday. In Friedell’s opinion, the first move the Bulls should make is to offer former Warriors lead executive Bob Myers their top job in the front office.

  1. My prediction holds true that Arturas would never fire Billy because if he did he was gone right after. ☑
    Jerry:
    Michael:
    Me: 🤨Not laughing

  2. Bulls are one of the top 3 worst run organizations in all of professional sports, absolute dumpster fire. Reinsdorfs need to sell, they're completely incompetent and incredibly greedy. The only reason AK got fired is because they missed the play-in, if they'd have gotten 10 seed he'd keep his job, but papa Jerry can't handle losing out on that extra playoff revenue.

  3. He clearly despises the bulls, the job is not bad if you look at the money they have, they have all their own picks. The roster is basically already reset. If you don’t hire someone as bad as AKME, you have a pretty bright outlook.

  4. Years I don’t agree. This is not baseball or Hockey. I say if again IF! It could be done in 2-3 years not like baseball 3-5 or hockey 3-6. It needs a solid foundation from the top. Again solid!

  5. No thanks to Meyers, he had all those players fall into his lap. And no more Dookies, so no thanks to Dunleavy. Also, he got punked by a rook Giannis while on the Bulls.

  6. Friedell tells it like it is, and I love that. And count me as a Chicago guy who has completely lost interest in this team until they come up with something successful. Not hyped or well-marketed. I want to see success before I even care, let alone spend money on this team.

  7. I'm not even gonna watch. They could hire Pat Riley and if they don't land a super star: "Riley was washed up and the Bulls are stupid." Or they could hire some average rookie executive or GM, and if they draft the "best player available" who develops into a super-star: "The hire is a genius and the Bulls got lucky." All the real-life characters are ascribed with roles in the writers' fictional accounts. All of the stories are already half-written.

  8. While I won’t disagree with Nick. Why the hell do Chicago stations keep having him on? He’s a TRASH reporter and I don’t think at any point of his time when he was best writer of Bulls to now has he ever actually liked the team. Hes had disdain for this franchise, even when they had an MVP, best record in the league and were in the Conf Finals. Keep him the F out of Chicago sports business. Hes a burn out who is a laughingstock in his own right.

  9. While they showed a masterclass of how to take players who could have gotten multiple firsts between them all and got none by waiting past their worth, there is at least a glimmer of potential. It’s going to take some luck this year and 2-3 years of either high picks or good drafting. But they have a relatively clean future cap, all their own picks and at least a player in Matas who might not be a 1, but he could be a part of a good team. They somehow jump into the top 4 (someone has done it almost every year) and things change. They’ll have money down the line to add if they can just hit on picks. But this will take time and the right guy. I’d still take this over a handful of crap teams tbh. You could have a whole lot less to start with and at least can establish the team without many holdovers aside from Matas and the French kid they drafted last year who still has time and some promise. The get one of the top 4 and you might be onto a start.

  10. Years to fix is ridiculous…. We have tons and tons of cap space.
I get it, P Will still on the books, but it’s super clean otherwise.
Bulls lead the league in attendance, it just takes the right leadership/maneuvering to right the ship

  11. Bob Myers is not that guy frfr!!!! We need Sam Presti!!! Give him 100 million dollars if that’s what it takes my ninjas!!!! And allow him to fire Billy if needed! Don’t tie his hands outta the gate!!! That’s garbage!!!!!

  12. If Billy Donovan couldn't get anything out of Patrick Williams in his first 3 years in the league, then why the hell did they give him a big money contract? I'm glad AKME is gone but damn it took too long.

  13. NBA media, including Friedell was dunking on Bulls for not selling low on Vuch and Caruso to send over to the Warriors for nothing.

What fans don't realize is it's more about who's there when you're drafting, are they in your range than whether one GM is good or one is not.

P-Will contract is nothing, the reason this broke down is Ball, LaVine, DeRozan, Caruso, and Vuch core wasn't healthy.

Nick has no idea what he's talking about. He should go back to Warriors coverage.

  14. Maybe dislike the messenger but the message is clear. The Bulls needed change from the top down. Nick tells it like it is and that's what's needed for change.

  15. Always been ownership fault in all this. Been a Bulls fan all my life but never an idiot and this has been absolutely trash for years. Even with Rose they never got him a star.

  16. They cut a guy for being a Christian. If you stay a fan of the team, you are following satan's path. And for That reason. I'm out!!! Been a lifelong fan. Done. Go T Wolves!!! I'll be back if they sell the team

  17. I’m not gonna sit here and pretend THE SCORE didn’t enable ACME. The score told u guys p will was better than Laurie 😂

  18. Pat had about a 20 game stretch in 2023-24 where he averaged 13/5/3/1/1 on elite efficiency and was beginning to scale up his usage and then he got hurt. That stretch got him paid and he’s never even sniffed that level of play again. Unfortunate
