In this episode, I provide film and narrative breakdown on how the Golden State Warriors were able to beat the lowly Sacramento Kings while still missing a ton of players in rotation, thanks to the unexpected impact of Charles Bassey alongside Steph Curry, who has now played two straight games without issues.

  1. Charles Bassey is a very interesting player for the Warriors, and his breakout game makes things complicated in terms of who the team should take to the play-in and beyond. It's between him and Nate Williams. Right now, I would still take Nate because he's the only wing who can play elite POA defense, but Kerr doesn't seem interested enough (what else is new), and I wouldn't be mad if they chose Bassey as the extra body.

  2. The Dubs will dump the G league bigs for more guards. Lol. Curry should retire. He’s going to permanently hurt himself.

  3. Bassey got Bounce. I was cursing out Steve when I saw four guards and the smallest 5. I started rooting for the Beam to get lit out of spite. Maybe they're conditioning themselves for tight playoff action. I can do without the ❤ attack. Christie's hack-a-Seth strat bailed out the dubs. Guess he felt sorry for Steve

  4. I like bassey and I don’t like pat spencer! He was only good those 2 games against Philly and Memphis and has disappeared since then! I’m with you Jim and I hope pat is benched and hope melton wakes up in the play in, would you start him or have him come off the bench ? Bassey is interesting for the dubs Jim

  5. Just imagine if the dubs were healthy! Jimmy, Steph, Kp,moody,horford,Seth,melton,green,gp2,qp, podz in certain situations, the talent is there

  6. here’s my thoughts on this, in a playoff setting there’s never going to be a back to back game, so the older guys have an advantage. i feel i’d rather have nate williams over bassey simply because we need a shai stopper in the first round, even tho no one can stop 2, nate is the most built for it in terms of positional size. i think biggest mistake was giving pat the guaranteed contract but hindsight is 20-20 i guess because if he didn’t come on that deal, correct me if im wrong, we’d have space for nate and charles

  7. Seth was being fouled on purpose in the fourth while the W’s were in the bonus. Draymond commented on this obvious tanking. I have never seen that, ever! It was disgusting. 2 of their 3 wins were against tanking teams. I’m hoping for the lottery and a new coach, a meaningless playin win doesn’t help them.

  8. If QP, Horford, KP and Draymond are all healthy come play-in then Bassey is redundant. Leons plays far better POA defence than Bassey; Bassey can protect the paint but can't defend the perimeter as good. Would love to see him play 2 more games though.

  9. Geez so much to say. Overall I’d take Pat’s feel for the game/maturity over Podz heroball. Both are liable on defense but Pat at point is a positive for the team.

Podz in too many instances looks off players, not engaged unless he’s scoring, can’t stop no one(except his little charges), and simply would get cooked in the post season.

Pat however allows the offense to flow way better by being patient and looking for the right players to get the best shots. Not to mention can score just as well as podz

I didn’t mind Pat being on the floor with Steph and Seth. Think about this Pat runs the point, currys run actions to get open, dray and a big to hold down the paint, rebound and set picks. Thats a solid a pretty solid line up.

  10. we finally have a mobile athletic big that has touch around the rim… wow…

  11. Charles Bassey had a great game! The Warriors need to keep Bassey on the roster moving forward.
If it comes down to Cryer and Williams staying on the Warriors, definitely keep Williams.
Play Nate Williams before Pat Spencer too.
Need more defense and height on the floor at all times.

The Warriors definitely will have to make some changes this summer especially since Butler and Moody will be back around December/January. It would be great if Curry, Butler and Green wouid take less money to be able to go after another championship….something like Curry 45m, Butler 35m and Green 12- 15m (off the bench). Bring in Kawhi Leonard possibly.
Would need to trade Butler though to make that happen or Butler would need to take a big paycut to like 20 million.

  12. Bassey looks like a big version of Gui Santos, too bad Kerr will probably not play him in favor of Pat Spencer or another guard, warriors have some size now, but Kerr still throws out his 4 guard lineup, even with the Curry's back.I hope Lacob does not bring Kerr back next season.

  13. Everybody know Steve Kerr doesn’t know when to make the right change to win a game. It would takes kerr about two or three years to figure it out.

  14. [EDIT: First things first, Bassey is essential! Get him as many minutes as possible!]

One of the biggest problems with this roster is that Pat Spencer is really the only true PG on the team other than Steph (I'll get to Seth). There are a bunch of SGs on the team as Pat is the best ball handler, passer and at running the offense meaning he will always get minutes due no one other than Podz having the ability to fill this role. Kinda… since Podz is still more of a SG

Nah Seth "ideally" makes Spencer obsolete but only if he was healthy all season. PGs require chemisty to optimize value whereas SGs not so much. As bad as Spencer is on defense (especially when out of position at the SF), since Steph is 38 and Seth is acclimating, Pat's gonna get "some" minutes

  15. Ive been saying this for the longest time : qp defense against real competition is not viable, especially against teams like the rockets, the thunder, the wolves, the blazers, the hawks etc etc. Post has atrocious rebounding and is having career lows inside the paint alongside shooting percentages. Sure he slides his feet on defense, but hes not an actual rim running big man that prioritizes easy buckets inside the paint. If you have horford and bassey that would help lock the paint down far better against the thunder running isiah hartenstein + chet holmgren double big lineup. Post is more of a complimentary piece for a team, but i dont trust him

  16. The other teams average 6'5-6'7 on 5man lineups 😅 why the heck does anyone think throwing 6' to 6'3 is good enough and some of our tinies don't defend either 🤣 then some say oh but OKC player a lot of smallball too..my ass they average 6'6 to 6'7 which is a massive upgrade from 6'1 to 6'2 🤣 and they got a Chet in their team 🤷 we don't 🤦

  17. They won despite Steve Kerr and his 4-guard lineups. And what happened to the fiery, competitive tenacity of Pat Spencer? He got that contract and was like "I'm good."

  18. JP: excellent analysis, as usual. Bassey was a very welcomed addition. A strong, physical, athletic Big . . . wow what a concept! Why has he been an unused secret? In any event, it was great to see a new BIg with skills.

  19. bassey does have presence in the paint. Feel like he is somewhat of a looney + TJD. But then…Kerr will not keep him more. :/

  20. Kerr see the game upside down. and he still playing green at center at this stage in his career..i told u he would still do dumb stuff

  21. If they lose in play in or not i hope immediately they fire kerr.what i dont understand is what the other coaches are doing when its ao obviously what's causing most of problems for this team

  22. How about Bassey over Leons, and keep Nate Williams? Leons is 6'9", but he's quite thin. I like what I see when Bassey is on the court, even with Kerr's four-guard lineup. He is a mobile, 2-way big man. Nate is like a bigger version of D-Melton.
