The trade that ruined the Wizards
One trade can change the league. And that’s what happened in 1998.
When the Wizards traded Chris Webber to the Kings for Mitch Richmond and Otis Thorpe, they crushed whatever up-and-coming, no-longer-terrible momentum they had. While at the same time creating a new Western Conference Super team (albeit a temporary one) in the Kings. It’s not easy to be a Wizards fan, I’ll say.

Ive,said for years Mitch Richmond was one of the most overrated players in the 90s. I heard people back in the day put him on par with Clyde drexler

This trade was when I stopped being a Bullets/Wizards fan…and really a NBA fan. That was the death of hope.
The Wizards are one of the worst run organizations in the league. No 50-win seasons, no Conference Finals/Finals appearances, only 5 second round appearances, more years out of the playoffs than in since they made the Finals in '79. They are moving in the right direction, but they have a lot of ground to cover

Webber never hit a stride in Washington. He came to Washington under bad circumstances, got hurt, didn’t win and then came the legal troubles.
Trading him was fine, but Thorpe and Richmond were not enough return.
I screamed WTF in this video about 6 times as a result of hearing the Wizards stupidity. Some things never change

As a Kings fan, an you at least do a video on the other side? Our only real "glory" of my lifetime. I was born in 1984 and my dad wpuld take me to see games with dirt cheap tickets throughout my childhood. I had all monds of 80s and 90s gear, was hyped for them making the playoffs vs the Seattle Super Sonics… then years later against the Utah Jazz and that serise against the Lakers… and that was it. I am 41 and they have been kind of okay to good maybe twice?
I clicked on this video and it really just mentioned the Kings in passing only when it had to.

#1. Crazy if Webber played for the Lakers who would become the Kings' greatest rivals.
#2. Us Warriors fans were sad to lose Webber. So coming backing to Northern Cali to play for Sacramento was like a consolation homecoming.
