The Nuggets don't have the luxury of being able to give 100% effort every single regular season game. They've dealt with tons of injuries all season and they've got a lot of old and injury prone players, so the way they "load manage" in the regular season is by not giving 100% every game. They can usually win most games by just outscoring the opponent and not giving too much effort on defense. It does bite them in the ass sometimes like when they lose against bad teams, but overall it's a winning strategy. They show up for big regular season games like you saw against SA the other day, and they'll lock in for the playoffs.
They are the Pacers from last year. Trail, trail, make a run then win.

Excuse: They could not put together their 9 man rotation all season. Played 30-40 games with 2-3 starters… at best. At times even with 1 starter only.
NBA really f*d DEN up with scheduling – caused so many (soft tissue/hard) injuries… But that`s another topic.
Even now – DEN is missing Watson (and Jones as a defense plug).
If they pull it together in the next 2 weeks – get Watson and Jones back and use this time wisely (meaning forget about standings or losses) – and in 3 weeks are FULLY healthy and clicking – DEN might pull it off.
Unfortunately – NBA did the number on DEN… I hope DEN will prevail and win at the end.
The injuries that they have had have caused their cohesiveness to not be optimal. They started the season 10 and 2 before the injuries started and Cam was playing horribly. They will be ready by the playoffs but the seeding will br difficult and it is all because of injuries.
