I like the current synergy we have in Finley and Riccardi. They both have a wealth of basketball knowledge and really know the team. Don't mess that up just for namesake. No thanks.
These guys are just waiting to see where Dallas picks.

When a GM doesn't want to commit before a draft, that is a problem. Most GMs want to be in place BEFORE a draft so they can pick their own players. Getting rid of Luka and being 39 games out of first place does not make things attractive. On the plus side, though, anyone who takes this job could see a 10+ win total next year and say they did it. Dallas will have to get an up-and-coming GM who wants to make a name for himself. I doubt anyone established will want the job. The entire West is getting better and without Luka, it makes it 100 times harder to turn around a franchise.

I really don't care who the GM is. I just think it would be nice if the front office and ownership developed rules for future trades. Like, never trade the three best players on the team unless they ask out. Never trade away draft picks unless you're ready to tighten your championship window. Don't make trades for the sake of it or lose a necessary skill (defense) for another necessary skill (shooting) unless you have a plan to make up for the lost skill. And allow ownership to hear multiple viewpoints from Mavs legends like Dirk and Nash and Mark before making major moves.
Kidd can replace Brown in New York. Good riddance when he leaves.
Masai has been openly critical of and outspoken against President Trump. Miriam Adelson is the biggest f—ing Trump booster/funder maybe outside of Elon Musk. I wouldn't be surprised if Cuban's criticisms of Trump led to him getting pushed out of running Basketball Operations or getting any input. I hate our ownership so much and we will likely miss out on more good opportunities in the future because of them. Do they want the "voice in press conferences" to be giving his opinions on world issues that don't align with theirs?
Finley and Matt with a good experienced GM in there with them would be the best choice now if this is the case.
Connelly giving multiple firsts to draft a small guard (rob dillingham) scares me. Makes me think he'd take acuff over wagler/brown which I would not like.
Finley is Dallas.. You two dudes is wild… He was the beginning piece that turned the franchise around in the late 90's. After that long franchise playoff drought he was on the team that defeated utah in round 1
