There is No “D” in Cavaliers?

It’s a popular narrative lately, but the numbers tell a more complicated story. As of the end of the 2025-26 regular season, the Cleveland Cavaliers rank 15th in the NBA with a 115.0 defensive rating. While they aren’t the defensive juggernaut they were a few years ago, they are effectively a middle-of-the-pack unit. The “no defense” talk likely stems from a recent late-season slump where their perimeter defense looked particularly “permissive”.
