I’ve always said that to win a championship, a team needs an “enforcer,” like Dale Davis.
That player is someone who not only is able to guard a Shaquille O’Neal type of player, but also someone who is willing to protect their teammates when needed.
Without this type of player, winning a championship is extremely difficult, no matter the coaching phiosophy employed.
In the late 1990s the Pacers were blessed to have the Davises patrolling the paint, protecting their teammates, in Dale and Antonio.
