SGA fans take offense to it because coming from most people and most of NBA twitter and Reddit they use that take by media to diminish SGA. As soon as SGA fans agree and say “yeah SGA’s team would win 50 or more without” him then you got every other hater and a majority of fans saying “that’s why Jokic, Luka, Wemby etc.” are more valuable.
I love the pod, but that is laughable. No one who actually watched Thunder games would agree with the idea OKC would have won 50 games without Shai. Someone who didn’t watch what Shai did in the clutch all season, might say some ignorant shit like that. Bill Simmons doesn’t even watch basketball anymore. Not a crazy take. OKC win games because of their all time great defense. SGA's contribution to the defense can be replaced easily.
It’s so funny how the most basic lesson of NBA history is that great teams win titles….makes one wonder how many brain cells NBA fans have. This past decade is the most unique in NBA history where there isn’t a dynasty simply claiming a title every other year or back to back years. OKC may be the first to do it and break the dry spell.

the top scorer on the thunder has been different every single game when sga was out.
those same players would have one game where they scored 25-30, and then the very next game only drop like 8 and miss half their shots.
the reason the thunder blow most teams out of the water is because it’s a compilation of role players who can, at any random point, explode on a night for 25+.
hell, aaron wiggins dropped 45 on a random ass night last season, and we haven’t gotten a fucking WHIFF of that this season from him.
isaiah joe randomly decides he can’t miss after throwing bricks for a stretch of games. do NOT get me started on Lu Dort and his shooting.

the thing with the thunder is yes, everyone is really really good on the team SOMETIMES.
SGA is legendary every single night he plays, without fail.
whether he has 9 ft’s, or 2. he’s getting 30. whether he’s having an explosive night, or a slow night, he’s getting 30, or he’s drawing so much defense that he sets up these role players that can pop off randomly, and so many of them can just pop off randomly that we usually don’t have to rely on only SGA to score.
the thing is, if yall WATCHED THE GAMES, you will have seen, several times, games where it’s literally just SGA getting buckets, and whenever he’s off the floor we are sometimes the worst offensive team in the league, straight up.
so fucking hell no, the thunder is absolutely not a 50 win team without SGA. they’re top 8 without him definitely, but anyone claiming the thunder could do all this without Shai again, just isn’t watching the games (go figure)
Sorry but the difference between SGA and Podz is more than 9 games. Shai averages 9% better true shooting and 17 more points while also averaging the most clutch ppg in NBA history. Thunder would still be a great defensive team but it would be hard for them to win those close games without the MVP in a season where their 2nd best player only played 33 games.

Since a comparison was made between SGA & Podziemski switching teams and how that team would perform what about SGA & Jaylen Brown switching teams? If SGA was in Boston and no Tatum would Boston still have performed the same they did or better?

I began watching for Jason’s unique blend of analytics but also context based analytics with a blend of real world perspective so to hear this take is straight up disappointing.
For context: the Thunder bench beats OTHER bench groups by a wide margin. If you remove Shai, you then have JDub also missing near 50% of the season and then coming back and shooting himself back into a rhythm which then costs them more games. You have Chet and Ihart and Dort and Caruso injured for stretches.
Shai’s superpower is his ability to weather the storm and create a repeatable scenario without making mistakes, then close out every game without mistake.
You remove him; turnovers go up, you remove a weak side legitimate Guard rim protector, you create a scramble for a closer, AND your bench unit now has to play against starters all game. OKC in a perfect world is a 50 win team, sure. Their luck has been anything but that though.
They would not have won 50 games without SGA because they also did not have JDub most of the year. Chet is not leading this team, even as deep as they are, to 50 wins. Just silly talk.
Win 50 games without SGA? Podz could be anybody. Take away Shai's clutch shot making & the insane attention SGA demands with the constant double & triple teams. His defensive minded teammates are mostly not offensively gifted can essentially play 4 on 3 with Shai on the court. And they get to rest when Shai cooks giving them more energy on defense. The efficient & consistent prolific scoring Shai provides plus elite playmaking is simply irreplaceable
7:24 y’all are doing everything to discredit SGA and his body of work by saying that this team would be as good as the Cavaliers without him. This team without SGA is not going to sustain a net rating like that. Y’all are not taking into consideration fatigue from a standpoint of scoring. If you remove 32 points from an offensive standpoint, then other players have to step up on that offensive load, which means that their defensive impact will take some sort of downturn.
