Phoenix Suns COLLAPSE To Deni Avdija, Trail Blazers In HEARTBREAKING Play-In Defeat

The Phoenix Suns couldn’t get the job done in the 7-8 Play-In Tournament game, blowing a late-game lead to the Portland Trail Blazers. Despite leading by eight points late in the game, Phoenix fell, 114-110, and will have just one more shot to advance to the NBA Playoffs.

With the win, the Blazers will move on to face the Spurs in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. Phoenix now awaits the winner of Wednesday’s game between the LA Clippers and Golden State Warriors, and the two teams will face off on Friday for a chance to face the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Suns were led by 35 points from Jalen Green while Devin Booker added 22 points on 7-of-17 shooting from the field. For the Trail Blazers, it was Deni Avdija who led the way, scoring a game-high 41 points, including the bucket that put his team up for good.

PHNX Suns postgame laments the loss and looks through what went wrong before looking forward to what lies ahead Friday. Follow the show: @PHNX_Suns, @ErikRuby, @GilMcGregor_, @Espo and @StephenPG3!

  1. We can hold Booker and Ott accountable for the collapse.

We can give the Blazers their flowers for mucking it up, and maximizing their only way to win the game.

But at the same time, someone needs to hold the officiating accountable. There were 5-6 calls during this game that were so horrendous, it makes me wonder want to check their draft kings accounts. It’s not the reason the Suns lost, but it’s a real problem.

  2. Deni learned all of the Suns secrets from Amare Stoudemire. He played with him a few months in Maccabi

  3. Damn, Portland didn't even feel that Booker was worthy of being double teamed. They played single coverage on him all game. That doesn't look like a $75 million dollar player.

  4. Why is jordan goodwin starting ? Start Collin or Royce.
Also why not throw different bodies at Deni ? Haywood could have made it tougher for him throughout that game.

  5. These dudes aren't allowed to criticize, Jordan Ott. They work for the team. His ridiculous small lineups are the problem.

  6. Buddy Shaedon Sharpe wasn’t “lost” on that last play. The play was for Shaedon to set a screen for Deni to get him the matchup that he wanted. Deni right away liked the matchup with Goodwin so he waved off the play.

  7. I’ve said it since the finals run and keep saying it- Booker is NOT someone to build around.

Not clutch, not a leader, tries to play hero ball. He is a great scorer when he gets hot and that’s it.

  8. That Booker dribble into mid-range, pump fake move pmo. Booker looking to pass and the rest of the team is looking at him to get to work.

  9. Kd would of stomped on the blazers some dudes just not superstars and cant step up to the plate when the lights is bright 🤷🏾‍♂️

  10. I would’ve rather had the Suns get blown out than lose to free throws. Absolutely unacceptable.

  11. Can we address the ridiculousness of the play in?

I liken it to a team winning a game just for the refs to hold a special overtime to determine the actual winner. Tarded.

Great during a COVID shortened season- not great for teams that earn those 7-8 spots in a 82 game slog.
