There is some pressure, but it ain't on Coop or Kon. It's on the media. They had BETTER get this one right. I think the STRONGEST case for Cooper is how Kidd put it on Richard Jefferson's podcast. Kon is a fantastic piece to the puzzle, but Cooper is the puzzle. How many times did Kon go up against the #1 defender for the opposing team? It was EVERY NIGHT for Coop and he STILL came out with a historic rookie season.
Kon is big for Charlotte sure major respect to him, but Lamelo played 72 games and B Mill played 65. That's 137 games together, half a season more than their most games played together previously. Lets not act like that has not been the biggest deciding factor here. If it becomes a co award okay I get it, but if I have to pick one its Coop 0 doubt.

I agree there’s no such thing as a player with better season thing, the best in class should be the ROTY. The ROTY will have a flaw if this is a seasonal award while players only have one rookie season. The player growth also matters, not just consistency and availability 😅
If Cooper Flagg isn't rookie of the year, its another drop in the bucket of just how bad the NBA has become. The divide from the media that covers and votes compared to what the fans can see, is continuing to grow and its why there's such apathy around the league right now. Blow it up.
Mavs ruined their lottery odds… lost over 10% at a top 4 pick because of the wins vs Portland, LA, and Chicago in their last 10 games.

I wonder, if the Mavs are locked into 7 or 8 and don't jump into the top 4…..do they trade into the top 4? Got PJ, Gafford, Klay & some picks to play with. Or would they try to jump up just a few spots for a Wagler or Acuff?

Just imagine how bad situation would be if Mavs didn't get Cooper Flagg and they were stuck in limbo with AD. At least they are now in position to actually build a good team around Cooper with this years draft pick and the trade exceptions they have and ability to go sign or trade for a couple of good starters to play along Flagg and Kyrie.
There's not one GM in the NBA that would take Kon over Coop long term.

Kyrie is not going to play for just anyone. Kidd is his mentor and he says he wish that Dallas had drafted him. KYRIE wants to retire a Maverick. Kyrie wants to be comfortable where he is act and he loves Dallas. The only way Kyrie leaves is if Kidd leaves
Having no plan B sounds pretty much like my good old mavs. It reminds me how they broke up the title team to go after Dwight Howard and Chris Paul just to lose Tyson Chandler and JJ Barea. Or how they had max cap space in 2019 and they went after Giannis just to sign nobody in the end.
