Luka Doncic & Cade Cunningham WILL BE ELIGIBLE for postseason awards 🚨 | First Take

Stephen A. Smith, Chris “Mad Dog” Russo and Kenny “The Jet” Smith join Shae Cornette on First Take to react to the breaking news from Shams Charania that the NBA and NBPA have ruled in favor of the Los Angeles Lakers’ Luka Doncic and the Detroit Pistons’ Cade Cunningham’s “Extraordinary Circumstances” appeal to the 65-game end-of-season awards rule.

  1. How is it that Jokic was able to get his son born and missed one game two years ago and Luka needed 2 games off?

  2. Moving the goal post It's all about who we like basically a popularity contest Jalylen Brown should be the MVP

  3. I think this is the way it should be. Appeal and then take a look and see the whole picture. I think this is a great idea.

  4. Come back lethal luka hes a big bad mean champion lethal lika is (6'7) thats a strong great great skilled player goddam he big mean hes got a great great game with his great shooting form his (44 points ) against the pacers lethal luka mvp mvp mvp ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⚔️⚒️🔨🏀

  5. Im calling b.s. it is the players fault injuries, dnp, sitting out , technical fouls.
I knew they wouldnt hold firm. The nba, they celebrate losing too much and reward for it.

  6. San Antonio didn't create "load management". Toronto did. They were to the first to use that term for one Kawhi Leonard, essentially a star, at the height of his prime, that could not stay healthy. And when KD and Klay went down and Toronto got a chip out of it, it incentivized other teams to do it. San Antonio would rest their older guys from wear and tear but they never wanted or advocated for younger guys to not play. Kawhi Leonard changed that and ultimately, not conceding or catering to his exorbitant demands, is why he was traded. And now we are here years later and Kawhi Leonard is still affecting franchises in negative ways. Think about it: Toronto never recovered either from him leaving them high and dry. They didn't even get a sign-and-trade out of it. Ultimately, Kawhi Leonard has been bad for the league.

  7. Just like the nba. We make up rules but only enforce as we see fit. NBA is all rigged, manipulated, and controlled. Not fair sport but sports entertainment

  8. The only reason they approved it because they both really were playing for there teams and not tanking

  9. The awards are on a vote basis right? If the voters feel like 55 games is not enough then they don't vote. Like this year, Wemby played 1 more game (65 vs 64) than Luka but Luka played 391 more minutes which translates to about 8 more games than Wemby. Should Luka be disqualified from the awards?

  10. The nba is opening Pandoras box with this ruling. Nba teams will find a way to use this just wait 😂😂😂

  11. SEE, these motherf•cking retards just came up with the 65 game minimum and immediately give a waiver for an exception. I HATE ALL YOU COCKROACHES❕️PEOII ULA JUDGE USM-CIA-OO8

  12. Hey espn do you think Jokic can appeal his black balling of the nba mvp put on you and all the people who get to vote for mvp he’s really sorry for signing with the Chinese shoe company

  13. It seems like the NBA is adjusting its rules to support players like Luka (if it had been Cade Cunningham only it would not have happened), which raises questions about consistency in how different teams and players are treated. It would be great to see a more uniform approach that benefits all players, regardless of their team or celebrity.

  14. The NBA is being extremely fair. The rest of these guys, like Deadbeat Man shouldn't have been skipping games for no reason. You get paid to play, so play.

  15. Just make it by minutes or 60 games . U can miss 20 games and still be impactful thru the season

  16. 65 games is just short of 80% of the games. If a player can't manage to play 80% of the regular season games, then how worthy is he of an end of season award?
