At some point people have to stop pretending this is bad luck with Joel Embiid. It’s a PATTERN. Every single postseason there’s always something…knee, face, illness, conditioning, now appendix. When you’re the franchise superstar making that kind of money, availability is part of the job. The Sixers have built the entire organization around him for almost a decade and the result is the same second-round ceiling every year. When is enough enough with this fanbase? MVPs and scoring titles are nice, but what good are they if your best player isn’t there when the season is actually on the line?
And while we’re at it, people need to stop acting like Tyrese Maxey is some superstar that can carry the team when Embiid is out. He’s a good player, but against real contenders he gets exposed. Small guards that can’t defend and struggle to control the game against elite defenses aren’t leading anyone to a championship. The Sixers keep trying to convince themselves this core works, but the reality is simple…Embiid isn’t reliable and Maxey isn’t that level of player. Until the franchise faces that truth, the ending will keep looking the same every year in Philly.
