I just realized that these kids get weird about the desert island question bc they basically have never had to think about a musicians catalog as an opportunity cost – like, when I was growing up, when I wanted to listen to new music…I had to go buy new music. And whatever I bought meant I wasnt buying anything else. These extremely tall children have had spotify and youtube and streaming their whole lives, and have never had to, like…just listen to what they have. The concept of it, deprivation from other music, is bizarre, rather than the baseline.
Im old, so it's basically the most important question that isnt important I could ever be asked, and they are all like 'I listened to some Drake today, so Drake'.
