The Orlando Magic silenced their critics and doubters with a dominant 121-90 win over the Charlotte Hornets, punching their ticket to the Playoffs.
Everyone on the Internet was clowning the Magic, and especially Paolo Banchero, after their frustrating loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. Back in the spotlight, the Magic set a forceful and physical tone from the beginning and never looked back after leading by 20-plus points and never really looking back.
Paolo Banchero made the biggest statement with 25 points and helping set the tone on defense. He made a statement that he can still be an All-Star and superstar-level player. He can lead the team and make them a factor in the Playoffs with this physical style of play.

paolo + carter are such an underrated duo.
Phil, a reporter in the room asking questions…could have asked the question in the room…what aren't you playing hard or why is Paolo shooting threes rather than driving to the basket. Instead, he kissed their butt all year, then when they play their worst, he just moves on to next year, tells Locked on Hornets "we suck and will definitely lose". Then, after the win, blames "others on the Internet" for the negative talk rather than saying, the Internet was right, Paolo needed to just be physical and drive to the hole and play defense. He should be leading with, I can't believe I just quit rather push for Paolo to actually play to his strengths.

Rational, fact- based criticism is part of fandom. It's not disloyalty. The goal coming out of last season was to win a 1st round series. League history is littered with teams that overcame injuries to attain success. During this season there have been times when it was reasonable to think this team had given up. They needed 2 chances to get into the playoffs. I'm hoping this group can continue to play to their strengths, minimize their shortcomings and reach the goal.

Truth be told I was never worried about this team defensively. That was a coach and chemistry issue. Bane and Suggs still showed why Magic need a PG tho was never high on hornets and both of their decision making is awful. They put Paolo in better spots, simple and his mental was better
You still missing the mark with with team. Reality is hornets was overrated as hell. Relying on 3 ball and offensive rebounds. Hopefully Wendell and Suggs play well enough to trade them this offseason

Good news: yes, when the Magic play like this they can indeed beat anybody. Bad news: the offense is so poorly run, that you do need to play this style of defense to be consistently competitive. Worst news: it is an impossibility to sustain this level of defense for an entire season or even a playoff series. THIS is the issue Banchero has with coaching… You can't expect players to play this defense every night and bail the offense out. This frenetic pace is also how inuries happen. Players deserve a coaching staff that can also account for some wins on the merit of NBA-Level X&O's offense.
